today, for the first time it does not load for some reason :-< stays on the second loading spinner, the one that has the dragon background.

These guys go out of their way to be cool dudes and make things fair for everyone, whether paying in cash or casually and free. This has got to be the first CCG I've ever played where I -want- to pay to support them, and it's also the first I've ever played where you don't HAVE to pay to win.
Also, the D&D jokes are hilarious.

Right now at least, the most F2P friendly strategy/card game on Kongregate. You must give CardHunter a try if you play any other kong CCG.

This game is made with love, you can really feel it. As others have also mentioned, this isn't p2w, and exactly for that reason I've given them a couple of bucks because it's so enjoyable, engaging and most of all fun and fair.

This game deserves far more plays. I guess the people who see this game think "ANOTHER CCG?" and dont bother trying it out. But this is the best ccg I've played so far. 5/5

I've been a long time player on the main site, and had absolutely no problem being a 100% free player. The extras are nice, but I never felt seriously excluded. In fact, all of the cool events are free or very cheap (using in game currency, not real world $!)

As with everyone else, this game absolutely blew me away. There's so much depth to the game, it's hard to imagine the time and effort that went into this highly polished piece. Honestly if this was an actual PC game I wouldn't mind buying it!

This game is so fun! I haven't even completed the campaign yet, and I'm having a blast. Very challenging, humorous, and really cool style. I like the idea of a tabletop simulator. hilarious!

"the lords of the game didnt like your character name ( scrotum) , they've chosen the name beatrice" ha ha ha ha awesome.

Best CCG I've played, I like the combination of cards and spatial strategy. The story-style works great, both for making fantasy tropes 100% excusable because they're wrapped in genre-parody, and for making it so nobody has to animate any legs or anything. Genius idea.
Execution is super smooth and non-buggy as far as I've seen too, and the interface does a great job of letting you recall what happened if you weren't paying attention, get explanations of card terms, see highlights of ranges of actions, and generally is intuitive, helpful and unobtrusive. Great job guys.
Email support@cardhunter.com asking for a reset. Include your CARD HUNTER account name (which may be different from your Kong name!) and some piece of identifying info like a couple of your characters' names and we'll get you sorted out in a jiffy.

Wow. Intentionally avoided this for a really long time because every CCG on Kong is a money-grabbing pay-to-win. I only started playing for the contest, and it has yet to disappoint. Most balanced F2P CCG on Kong, easily. Well worth it.

This is an amazing game and I would recommend it to anyone. You don't need to pay to do anything, so the premium content is only optional if you want cosmetics and treasure hunts early on. You don't need to restart earlier adventures for XP or items much, because you only need skill. The enemies are tougher later on, but the difficulty progression prepares you for it. The game does a nice job showing you the recommended level as well. This is probably the only the only CCG where you don't need to pay to do anything on Kong.

Thinks: "Doesn't look like much but it's oddly popular. Guess I'll give it a shot." *six hours later* "What happened?*

It takes a certain kind of finesse to make this type of game both unique and fun. I thoroughly enjoy a game with such attention to detail like the deck of cards on the table or the clock sounding in the background. One may question the real value of certain items but there is more than enough content to keep you occupied for a few hours. Well done.

Hi, we're aware that there's an issue loading the game at the moment and are looking into it. Sorry for the downtime!
Hi, this is a common suggestion, and we agree with the spirit of it. Unfortunately, it's not trivial to implement due to some mechanics in the game that aren't particularly prominent initially (namely, revealing previously hidden encumber effects + the Maze of the Mind card). Given our limited resources and developer time, this is probably not a change that is coming soon... but yes, we want it eventually. Thanks for your feedback! :)

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but you can target enemies with "Jump, Soldier!" This works in the adventure mode, not sure about competitive. Since "Attack, Soldier" and "Block, Soldier" can only target friendly characters, I'd have thought the same would go for "Jump, Soldier!". Is this intended?

Sorry this might be a little long. All I can say is wow, good job devs. I've been searching for a game to get really into on Kongregate for -years-. I never thought I would get into a CCG because its really not my style, but boy did you guys prove me wrong. You name it I tried it, swords and potions 2, ad capitalist, clicker heroes, civilizations, the new bloons, SAS zombies.. and to think this one out of all I have played I might consider putting not only tons of time into.. but maybe a little $ as well. And might I add that THANK YOU as an avid kongregate player, to not PUSH spending real money on this game.. The perks are really unneeded to play the game but out of years of not paying to play - this might be my start. Who would've thought. Not to sound cliche or anything but this game might ACTUALLY be a game changer to all the devs out there. Thanks again for bringing this guys, really smooth and addicting game to play.

They should put a few more tags on this. It's way too awesome to be stuck with all those stupid pay to win ccg's made from the same dumb cut out. This should be front page stuff right here.

Also keep in mind that you can create your own single player scenarios to play or to share with your friends. So the SP aspect of the game is theoretically infinite.

I really like this game. It has the feel of the old time table top game but non of the hassle of getting 4 or 5 people together to play. I am still having a hart time getting gold. I am still enjoying the game. As the game progresses you have to choose your moves wisely. RNG is also fun part of the game depending on the card draws

I was so worried about how it seemed like another crappy Pay to Win CCG game had gotten badges, but this one actually seems really fun and fair.

Also, I tried to play it on the original website. I tried to register, but the username was taken. I assumed this was because I also tried to play here, and it told me the name was available, then it told me "Connection failed. The server or your internet connection may be down. Please refresh the page and try to login again." so I reloaded, and haven't been able to get back on since. I then tried to log in with the email connected to my kong account, but it says that email is not registered. Do I just have to make a new account?

The game play is actually more fun than I anticipated, but the cut scenes with the old D&D box set module styling really scores for me and makes me want to keep opening new adventures. Nice work, Devs!

I've been playing card hunter for quite a while now, and one thing I keep forgetting to mention is the consistency. the game's performance is so ridiculously stable, in some games lagging out or disconnecting can be a common occurance, but here, even versus a real time opponent, or in a party with 2 other people from different websites, the game is still seamless. very little loading time... I just love it. and I'm only talking in reference to the game's performance. the actual gameplay is just wonderful and requires more space than I can get from a comment to describe.

This game is very enjoyable, I wish the creators would keep updating the game. It's like DnD but you don't need friends. More people should play it I think anyway.

Maybe I'm either saying something that's been said a million times before, or this is an entire type of game that I've slept through...but this game to me a wondering mash-up of D&D (roleplaying), M:TG (CCG), and...something like HeroQuest (RPG/action board game that's D&D-esque)?
I'm not sure exactly how to categorize it, but it's pretty awesome. Plenty of challenging bits, and extremely engaging with the story arc and D&D jokes and everything.
This game rocks! I wish i could play it multiplier with friends, co-op rather than versus/PvP.

This is random, but on the loading screen in the top left corner it says, "For 1 Or More Adults Ages 10+". Sooooo... 10 year olds are now adults? Explains why Ash Ketchum's mom lets him go wandering around Kanto on his own. :)

I have been looking for a game like this for 2 years no other game can keep me so addicted to it 5\5 and i hope kongregate never gets rid of it anyone with me? And especially if you play chess/checkers its just like it this game requires REAL strategy.

As soon as I saw sweepstakes, I was expecting to see an energy or pay to win game. I really liked being wrong. It's a solid game, and one I came back for even after finishing the sweepstakes, which is something I rarely ever do, even with most badged games. The game even allows you the opportunity to get a seven day card hunter club membership if you keep the pizza you were given for a figure change. Wasn't a hard choice for me, I liked my figures.

Quick announcement: Since SAS: Zombie Assault 4 went offline, we decided to replace it with this game in the "Best of 2014" quest, which also meant adding a couple of long-overdue badges. Enjoy!

Fantastic game in basically every way. I can't possibly rate this less than 5 stars. This is a game with a lot of depth, replayability and length, and not to mention it's extremely fun. The combat in the game is very balanced and addicting, it reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics. A very positive trait this game has is its excellent style. The idea of an actual tabletop RPG being played/narrated by characters is really charming and witty, and makes this game stand out more. There is a lot of detail put into every card, character figure, item etc. I love the fact that every battle is like its own adventure with its own story and has narration by the characters playing the game, it makes it so that the games levels are unique and each one is worth playing through. All in all this is a very well made game, and I'm glad to have found it.
