wow judging from the comments it sounds like Delosford turned out to be a gigantic tool. Such a shame too, I was looking forward to playing the game again. Inb4 Delos trolls this comment.

So, I looked at the wiki, and what I can glean from it is that either lots of bills have no effects at all on the country, or that we hardly know what they actually do. It's almost like we're actual congresspeople.
The wiki is non-official information and thus very incomplete. With how bills are applied EOD, it's effectively impossible to figure out what each bill does (this is quite intentional). However, Deep Throat provides a way of figuring it out.

if constituent support falls really REALLY low your constituents should personally murder you... would be great to see it on the daily clout

With the passing out page, where it says "the sight of a particularly large spider" it would be so funny if you actually put in random spiders!
There have been various suggestions to add spiders to the game based on that... but they all seem like they'd just end up pissing people off more than anything.
You regain 3 health/day, 6/day if you're in the hospital. You also receive automatic police protection if you've recently been hit by a violent mission.

You should include information that purchasing a cigar/liquor will cause a scandal. I bought one liquor, expecting for it to not cause a scandal, but was not told that it would cause the scandal. NOOOO MY PERFECT RECORD. But seriously, I think you should include a warning next to the cigar and liquor in the store.
The scandals from these items are incredibly minor compared to other scandals in the game, and the purpose is more to use them to drown out worse scandals than to actually cause problems for characters that incur them.

@KillerOfU33 you don't need HTML editing skills to make a pastebin, you could just write shit and nobody can prove it

...what the heck is there something i'm missing here because either a) my memory's gone and lied to me or b) there's been someone posting in my name. i've never posted that you're 'crazy'/'delusional' in any of the posts; all that was there posted by other players that dancraiground3 might be a stalker was just breaking his name into parseable words. what. please do point us to evidence to the contrary. ...and a third thing, posting the guy's three rerolls does not deny you connecting him to craig and dan and the stalkers, that information is neither mutually exclusive nor damning.
I already did point you to the relevant evidence. You said it didn't prove anything. Which you will continue to do every time I point you to any evidence, no matter how obviously damning. Which means you're a stalker. Which is why you're banned. Going pretty much full circle here.

So far, this game is awesome. Another great game in the "Text-Based" Genre! Puzzling my brain with Politics while discussing bills in "Party Chat" and "Global Chat" will always get me thinking, "How come no one came up with this Idea before?" Thank you, Delosford, for bringing the Kongregate Community this Great, Humorous and Simple game!

"I have gathered all required signatures, agreements and documents required and will thus be forming a Conference Committee with respect to this bill!" I'm pretty sure someone else already pointed this out but there's one unnecessary "required" in that sentence.

So uh, what's the deal with these critical assassinations that are occurring in just 1 assassination against speaker runners that deal 100 health points of damage and bypass Martial Law, CongSec, 10 protection, and an obscene defense stat...?

Q, I've played this game for some time now--through this whole endeavor.
I'd like to simply say that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I'm not saying that what you say is untrue. I'm saying that it is incredibly difficult to believe without any evidence beyond what you say in your posts.
Could you provide some external evidence to give your word some credibility? An initial report from the FBI or similar? Perhaps consider approaching a news outlet? If this is all true, it would turn out to be quite a newspiece that could give you come publicity.
But otherwise, without this proof, you do appear to be a little crazy,
I can provide plenty of evidence. It's fairly difficult to convey across the internet aside from pictures, videos, etc., which I have posted many times before. Try asking around.
Thanks for the feedback and support! I never really expected the game to get this big, so a lot of the challenge of that Kongregate ad was dealing with the effects of a large flood of players. Once I get it all hammered out and up to V1.0, I'll start doing some more advertising with the money people have put into the game.

I was not around during said Furoa screenshot that proves her ban. Can you please clarify what happened with the screenshot that got her banned, Q?
Denied the existence of the stalkers, claimed proof I was providing wasn't proof. Pretty simple to identify as stalker behavior. It's funny, there were shitloads of people asking questions/disagreeing/etc... and oddly, only people acting really suspicious as I outlined got banned. Maybe there was a reason for that.

What if congressmen actually play this game and go 'I should use that in my next speech'... you'll be indirectly effecting politics! :D
I did just realize it might be a good idea to put people in the hospital after an assassination attempt and make it so you have to leave manually (even after waking from a coma).

Time for a more review-ish comment. I'm impressed that you've made a game that has none of the pet peeves that most, if not all MMOs possess (powergaming, P2W BS, etc.), there is also how new content doesn't immediately seem to disrupt the well-maintained balance in the game. Let's not forget the witty humor and your quick, thoughtful responses to the community. I wish for more power to Clout and all of your projects!
In short, 5/5 would eat potatoes with dev.

i see that most of the bills have "Increase" or "Decrease" or "reduce" etc. at the beginning of their names but it bugs my mind to see on the bill list "Income Tax Decrease" because it doesn't start with an action word D:

Once you get a message about being blackmailed how long does it take for the scandal to be released if you do nothing?

Can you add killing foreign leaders to mess up the world. I would love to send ninjas into North Korea. And maybe annexing Mexico.

there should be a bill that has no purpose other than to reduce public happiness, the american public have no right to be more than 100% happy!
While the game is coded such that adding parties isn't hard, the real problem is adding them to the character creation screen. The way it is now makes it pretty tough, and adding another party mid-way would be kind of infeasible at this point since they'd be screwed on number of members.

third like the idea of a president whether npc or playable. would be cool to have a prez send war proposals to congress. also having the prez elected every so many months and be from a random party if npc therefore more likely to vetoe the opposing parties high impact bills. fourth think you should put more countries into the world. fifth health problems caused by drug addiction and worse health problems with long term drug addiction and perhaps some sort of rehab. overall good game with a lot of potential and given your commitment to your game and players I think it is likely to reach most if not all its potential
President/VP, presidential assassinations and speaker of the house are next on my implementation list. It should be a pretty quick one. And yeah, the president's affiliation will affect how he vetoes. It won't be totally random. Drugs are already really bad to use frequently due to scandals, though that's probably not a part of the game you've encountered heavily yet if you're CT1/2. Thanks for all the feedback!
Nope. New feature. Helps out casual players, and also makes drugs make more sense for newbies. Sometimes people would come in, buy a stress reducing item, lose energy and not really get the point/think there was a bug. Now your stress can go negative so it's more obvious what happened.

Jennifer Government's NationStates is a multiplayer political themed online game that predated this game by several years. Nonetheless, it's existence doesn't detract from Clout's uniqueness.
I do not believe the victory criteria for any party is achievable. It'll be a 1-4 battle passing the bill, and with equal access to sex, drugs and rock & roll on both sides, I don't see any single party with sufficient resources to push it through. So are those bills just available for people to waste clout on and cause drama?
Finally, I think that having a suicide option should be available. After all, politicians have the right to commit suicide in real life. The lack of such an option deprives my digital avatar their rightful civil liberty and surely goes against the Constitution.
NationStates is a nation-building Civ game. It seems to have added an opt-in multiplayer voting element on top of the basic Civ formula, but it would be an extraordinary stretch to call it "politically-themed" the way Clout is, and such a stretch would end up including many other games that predated NationStates. Maybe "Government Themed" or something would be more fitting? There aren't really any "politics" in your nation since you just choose what to do. Anyway... yes, win condition bills are intentionally incredibly hard to pass. Certainly you agree that passing such a bill through congress would be pretty difficult? Killing yourself is not an option for gameplay fairness and balance reasons, but if you would like to have your character removed so you can make a new one, feel free to let me know.

You seem to respond to every comment made, even this one. You also make a more than realistic game about politics (although you make it so that the people actually stay relatively on topic, while in real life tax decrease would wander off into NASA funding and so). You even don't make it a pay-to-play or pay-to-win game. I was honestly considering that you are an isolated rouge AI set out on emotionally controlling the world. Mainly due to the comment responses. Honest.
It's always your allies investigating you. They just can't handle your success and are trying to tear you down. The voices under the podium told me so.

Just because it didn't work once doesn't mean they won't try another method. Why are you so confident that they won't simply try another poison, or hire a sniper/trained killer?
This organization seems to have a need to keep their activities secret as well as appear to be the good guys. They've literally tried claiming that the things occurring are the result of god. Yes, I am serious. It's not just scientology involved, as I said before... though really I'm pretty sure they're running the show.

Actually, Schrödinger's stalkers are both stalking and not stalking simultaneously. Would be more reasonable I guess.

It seems people are having problems with getting on - I haven't, but I think I'll be emailing them anyway. Is it possible to petition or otherwise organize protest against this kind of thing? Or is the best any given person can do just send them emails? If they're not doing what you pay them to do, they're doing something illegal, and it's also inconsiderate and deceptive if they're trying to lie about it. I hope this issue can be resolved.

Oh, and pretty sure having a 'written' rule posted in a transient medium such as global (which disappeared very very quickly) hardly counts. Everything I have said about you has either been true, or a reasonable conclusion to make based on the facts available to me, despite your constant accusations of lying. On the other hand, you've lied, slandered, contradicted yourself in comments, made logical errors in your sob stories, and denied all of these activities. Oh, and changed the subject/shifted blame every time anyone calls you out on it. Not all bugs are related to the stalkers, not all dissent comes from the stalkers, and actions after banning cannot be used to justify a ban.
Oh, so you admit you saw it and deliberately did something you know would get you banned? Ok, glad to see we've completely discredited everything you ever said. Have a wonderful day.

The game from what I can see is enjoyable, but isn't capable of being fast-paced. In comparison, gamemaker, check out War of the Web. It's limited but never murky.
When trying/failing/succeeding to play this I just feel slow.
May I suggest energy coming at 3/ten minutes or 1/5 minutes or something similar?
Unlike most games on Kongregate, the game isn't really designed to be fast-paced and played constantly. It's intended that you use energy about once or twice a day, potentially extending this under special circumstances using drugs (or perhaps all the time if you're very rich).
The game is entirely multiplayer (some people do not notice this at first, forgive me if you did), and the low energy regen is partially to force player-player interactions. The energy regen rate is also balanced against the gains you can make playing abilities and the other timed actions you can commit or other actions you can take with energy (some timed).
I will however mention that you'll likely feel much less limited as you gain better abilities and equipment. Your effectiveness on bills will go up 3-4x.
No, I am perfectly sane and present nothing except supportable factual information... which is why only the banned and a couple people who don't even play the game are still posting about this. Because nobody else really cares about your lies anymore.
