Under rating threshold (show) Corruption sounds like an interesting concept, but at the risk at being yelled at by you I agree with everyone who has said that unremovable items are a bad idea. However if you give me back my death ray I will flip sides and yell at everyone along with you.

+ - !

(26)

Developer response from delosford

They're not unremoveable, which is why the complaint is ridiculous and kind of demonstrates people aren't really aware of what the mechanic they're complaining about even is.

avatar for HarveyJ
HarveyJ

Aug. 26, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) Also it doesn't matter if it was mentioned once, twice, 5 times, or 100 times gimmicky items that can not be removed (and so long as it remains in it's current state there is no way to remove it) are really dumb and so is the increasing presence of all this silly supernatural stuff.

+ - !

(21)

Developer response from delosford

Right, because Clout is clearly devoid of such things. Like Relics. Also, how did you manage to read the forums and still not understand the mechanic at all? It's not a "gimmick" it's "excellent game design", and frankly I don't actually care whether or not you agree.

avatar for HarveyJ
HarveyJ

Aug. 25, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) And considering how long some features have taken to be implemented (which itself is completely understandable due to your busy schedule) introducing an item that can't be removed until another update is added is a bad idea. I'm against these gimmicks, but if we are to have them they should be fully implemented rather than be incomplete and lead to items you can't remove without warning.

+ - !

(21)

Developer response from delosford

So by "without warning" you mean "repeatedly stated in various posts, chats, forum posts, etc."?

Under rating threshold (show) I assumed the game wouldn't do something as dumb as to have something that can't be removed, and suggesting that not having combed over every forum post justifies an item that can't be removed is an asinine defense.

+ - !

(31)

Developer response from delosford

So you really need to read the forums, because it's part of a larger game mechanic playing between Clout and The Lobby, including followers of the Dark Gods and The Illuminati/Knights Templar. You can't just take it off, but that doesn't mean you're stuck with it permanently (though, temporarily you actually are because I haven't added a way for people to become Illuminati/Templar yet in the world, but the code supports it).

Aug. 26, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) You never mentioned it in-game and and only mentioned it once as far as I can tell on the forums (in a thread that gave no indication of being of any special importance). Suggesting that even comes where close to a fair warning in ludicrous. Also it still makes no sense as a MISC item. Can this go back to being a government simulator instead of having this dumb devil stuff?

+ - !

(26)

Developer response from delosford

Pretty sure there's no less than 5 threads on the forums about it, and I've mentioned it in-game numerous times.

avatar for OJ_Jones

Under rating threshold (show) By your own previous admission it is unremoveable until the Knight's Templar stuff is implemented which will be who knows when. PS I want my death ray.

+ - !

(23)

No, it's unremovable until I add a bit of content to let you use the implementation that's already there. It'll probably be in today.

+ - !

Aug. 26, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) So wait, how long until you implement the way to remove currently unremovable items?

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from delosford

It's already implemented. I could make someone a member of those factions manually, but I'd prefer to make some content for it which will probably happen today. Corruption builds slowly over time, though I did also want people to build up a bit instead of immediately removing stuff.

avatar for mosesmalone

Under rating threshold (show) I can't remove an item. Is this the hacker's work or a dumb new gimmick?

+ - !

(10)

Developer response from delosford

Neither. Also, how are you of all people not aware of this? Don't you read the forums? I've mentioned it in-game multiple times as well. Though, really, shouldn't you have been just ever-so-slightly more wary of The Mark Of Lucifer? Honestly now.

Aug. 26, 2014

Under rating threshold (show) I've never seen it mentioned it game and after combing over the forums there are a grand total of two threads that state that there are new items that can not be removed. A third mentions that they might be cursed but says nothing of the sort about not be able to remove them. That seems lie pretty short notice to me.

+ - !

(9)

Developer response from delosford

No, there are more than a few threads that spell things out pretty clearly. Corruption-specific threads, threads about Etherium Rifts, all kinds of stuff. I also mentioned it in-game repeatedly. But please, use new mechanics without knowing what they do and then complain that they weren't what you imagined them to be. That sounds really productive.

Under rating threshold (show) Fantastic game! Sharp, self-aware and hilarious. It's just enough to be a immersive good time, but not so much that it becomes self-important and preachy. (I can't find the adjective for that statement.) One thing though, while I get the feeling the world page was given a lot of thought and care, it seems as if the game isn't affected by it enough. It doesn't matter to the player that the economy is sunk and so on. It would be really impressive if the store and the black market experienced inflation in proportion to the sinking economy and so on. All the same, my favorite game on Kong!

+ - !

(49)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks for the feedback and support! The CPI is not currently modeled, which would be more what you're talking about. Historically, I think the CPI also has a loose or potentially inverse relationship with the price of illicit drugs. However, I do have plans to implement bills that will alter the cost of drugs and perhaps also items (drug law bills and sales tax or something). These bills will ALSO modify costs of other games connected to Clout, such as The Lobby and Campaign Trail (both currently only in the planning stages, but The Lobby should be open in some form within a month at most).

Under rating threshold (show) You could include information about +0, +1, +2, +3 marks in the help page or in the bills page, or in both pages. It took me quite a while to figure out it's abilities effectivness multiplayer based on players clout tier. Thou I didn't figured out yet how exactly it works. I'm under impression that most of the newbies have simillar problems with understanding those marks.

+ - !

(38)

Developer response from delosford

Thanks for the feedback! It does mention this when you first create your character, but it should probably be stated in the help. It's not really important for newbies to know as you can go up in tier without suffering any penalties. Penalties only occur once you reach CT2 or higher. If you're higher than CT1 and play on a CT1 player's bill, you will suffer a penalty (50% if you're 3+). If you're CT4 and act on a CT2 player's bill, you operate at 80% strength. All of the autobalance percentages are carefully designed to balance higher and lower tier players in a fair fashion to discourage griefing and ganking, but still allow multiplayer interaction.

Thanks for the feedback and support! I've noticed a lot of people from foreign countries play. I see a lot of connections from Australia, Iceland, Scandinavia, and South America in the server logs. However, I can't draw and am not much of an artist in general, which is the primary reason for the minimalistic visuals in the game. The secondary reason is to make the game have the appearance of connecting to a MUD through a telnet client. If you don't know what a MUD is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD

Relics are unique items that are awarded to specific characters. If you lose your seat or die, they are repossessed and returned to the pool of relics that can be awarded. Therefore you cannot store them in deposit boxes, and tagging their equipment slot will have no effect.
