This is a great game. Especially if you think of it as a proof-of-concept. Meaning you could expand this game with more features and mechanics and it would be even better, but still pretty good even as it is now.

Good game, but I donĀ“t know if the fireflies are good or not, because there are too many moths, but if you eat the moths quickly, that solves the problem, very fun game, keep up the good work

Once you have a decent web structure set up it's all about food management. A single firefly or queen bee left unchecked can end your game in seconds, especially if you get caught with your metaphorical pants down while chewing on a butterfly. Simple yet deceptively difficult game, absolute blast to play.

Having a full on sandbox mode where you can spawn all creatures, switch between golden and regular webs, etc would be cool, instead of just bees

Dragonfly through right through the centre of my web.... Whole thing collapsed, and I'm left with a couple of little strings in the corner...

i tend to focus on 1/2 the web just spamming lines to catch stuff, waiting for the other 1/2 to break.. then i build the empty 1/2 up from the corner with tons of closely spaced diagonal lines forming a strong structure.. eventually letting the original 1/2 i worked on be destroyed to make room for the strong structured one (if you dont, one line can break the full web)

Kasic, you can catch birds in your web if you build it right.. and the ONLY way to lose an entire sector, is if the main structure lines from wood to wood break, so dont have a structure line that spans the entire distance

The game is bs. Bugs just break your web and then you die. Doesn't seem to matter how you build it, if a big one flies in and clips the edge you lose the whole sector.

Getting the hard badge :
- build the web in that order -> bottom right, top left, bottom left. It should be made up (by scribbling, the fastest method) with tiny triangles. Do not go over 3/5 of the area with the web ; not defendable.
- Eating priorities from best to worst dragonflies (faster everything), queenbees, then fireflies, then bees (if enough health), then ladybugs.
A good indicator of a well constructed web is a caught hummingbird. If you've got 2 and your web is as big as you need, you don't really have to worry about the bat.

Excellent game, with only a single major flaw. Unfortunately, it can make the game unplayable. That flaw is lag. I was literally waiting 10+ seconds for my spider to follow each command. That's a long time, when you have at least one firefly summoning every moth on the planet. If there is any way to fix that, it would be much appreciated.

I had a real tough time rewriting this. Your medium difficulty badge description is infuriating. Just putting it out there. You admit we'll see the badge as harder to earn if we don't read your tip in the badge description. It just looks lazy. BOTD doesn't need you trolling people. I am salty, thank you for noticing. Next time, don't drop the salt all over my day.

4 fireflies just came at the same time just a few secs after i got to their level...... i felt a bit cheated since moths just SWARMED my net. the game would have been pretty much perfect if either moths or fireflies spawn rate was lowered, or maybe a cap on how many there can be cause i can definitely see it being a problem later on in the game. but otherwise it was great and interesting considering how simple it seems

To anyone criticizing on badge of the day today, the game is 11 years old. Think of how far gaming has come and give it a grain of salt.

1/5 boring, slow and unfair. you rely on rng to even play the game. both bars you need to even play the game require rng to be able to use. limited sound design. graphics arent good. heres some fixes 1) make the web bar increase over time instead of relying on rng. 2) have an earlier indicator for where flies will appear/have them take more time to reach web 3) get digyourowngrave or kongregate to delete this game. easiest option seems like 3, but who knows. 1/5 randomly win or lose; not a good idea.

Okay, Bat, I get that I'm in the way of your flying path or whatever, but after my entire web gets destroyed, it's really rather rude of you to wreck my last remnant of webbing in the corner.

I think most of the problem is insufficient web due to shortage of food. so, build square grid (cover whole area) to get more flies.(and build web as much as possible) from stage 3, your grid will be quite dense, and your major mission is devour bugs as much possible. devour bugs, and build web fast, an so on. since dragonflies are useful for eating bugs fast, so eat them frequently.
priority of the bugs: big animals -> queen bee -> firefly -> stag beetle/dragonfly -> fly -> ladybug

At level 18, a bat finally decided to fly into my dense corner web. 8 or so bats before him were clever and chose the empty space.

"Eat a bat"... Hmm, I think the Hard badge should have been named "Ozzy Ozbourne", or at least have his name in it. :D

huh, my web is 10 times stronger when it looks like an actual spider's web. I guess those little guys are little genius architects.

love it when one bee breaks a strand of web, and breaking that makes the strands it's connected to not have enough support and it just ends up breaking your entire web. Love it soooo much. otherwise a very fun game.

Rain king advice is good. What I did to get the bat is to start in one corner and making a tight web (lots of small triangles = strong web). This structure can withstand a lot of small bugs, even a horde of moths. Ignore the other parts, if they break it's fine, less area to worry about and you won't get overwhelmed by fireflies moth combo. From there you can expand when you have spare web and weave around the edges of the screen (branches). Save one corner to weave golden web and reinforce with regular web.
