@ DJStatika, Achilles froze as did the enemies though they were still able to attack me and I died about a minute after the freeze bug.

Freezing bug still not fixed. My first time playing it now and while I was running I killed a spearman, and an archer was behind him spamming. The game then froze with a swordsman behind me. This was on stage 3, hope this helps with fine tuning it! Seemed like a decent game otherwise.

TIP MUST READ:If an enemy proceeds forward you can jump and slice their face. INSTA-KILL (with the exception of the shield raising swordsman)

Seen many comments but none have said this epic one. THIS.IS.SPARTA!!! Anyway the jumping on enemies to end them seems a little bit difficult to actually land on them. Also , bosses has bigger range than Achilles , makes it damn hard to kill them after you fought tons of archers/spearmans/swordsman :/ I hope you guys can like lower the damage or range :/

Emperor- How did you lose an arm?
Spearman- He...He knocked me over, and jumped on me!
Emperor- How did he knock you down in the first place?
Spearman- He...It was really quite appalling...He kicked my brothers head at my chest.
Emperor- Then to stop this fiend's means of battling, I shall have all my soldiers beheaded, so that this man cannot stun my guards!
The next day the Emperor had all of his troops beheaded. He forgot 1 little fact however. You need a head to live.

end of the round, 10 arrows in him, 20 people around him, You are not worthy enough to shine my shoes! We got a badass in here!

I dont like starting from stage 1 after losing all 3 lives, demotivates me to continue especially after failing a few times on the boss in chapter 4.

2nd, while at first the controls felt very...out of control,I've realized the 2 aspects that cause me trouble, 1 of which does a little, and 1 that does a lot; jumping finishers, and forward attacks. Finisher causes some because you directionally jump when an enemy is grounded, but not straight jump, as your character will jump to them. With forward attacks there's no way to tell whether a slash or a shield bash will occur. The game claims it has to do with distance, but I've already traversed empty fields attacking and my guy performs both regardless. It appears mostly random. Why not make controls slightly more complex to remove that ambiguity? With shield bash vs slash, for ex, why not tap forwardx2 > atk to do shield bash? Or hold atk for shield bash and tap for slash? You could absolutely make the controls more complex without becoming at all overwhelming, and imo that would be A LOT better than just guessing what's going to happen every time you press a button.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I might do a few of them, particularly putting your lives back to 3 when you start a new level. I might do the time limit on the leg break too. I don't want to make the controls more complex though, double tap to run wont really add anything except the ability to spam shield bashes, which will make the game easier, but not more fun. And my version of these games are more about timing and tactics, rather than the "dial-a-combo" thing you often get in these games. I think there is a glitch with finishing off people who are a fair distance away, will try and fix.

Another comment (because I like this game and wish to see it improve). Two more things I'd like to mention; the first is that maybe you should put some sort of time limit on how long leg breaks last, as when one thinks about it becomes apparent that being able to permanently incapacitating one enemy and move for away can easily lead to someone simply being left to fight one enemy at a time. Granted, that would move much slower than otherwise, but still. Add to that the fact that on most difficulties (the harder the difficulty, the quicker enemies get up on average) you can just kick heads into people then finish them and at least on lower difficulties and you have a dreaded scenario; high scores that go not to the most skilled, but to those willing to invest the largest amount of time, as with any amount of skill those two tactics on the lower/lowest difficulty could easily lead to incredibly drawn out sessions where the main question is how long someone's attention span is.

this game is fun, but i will only play in once or twice. It forces you to get better at it and learn certain combos and what they do. but add a little upgrade aspect in there, like a upgrade start weapons. Then maybe a touch of power which upgrades all attacks and weapons, like head kick, sword swing, and upgrade picked up spears. If you added that in, i would rate a 5/5.

This is the only upgradeless game I've ever loved. Here are a few tips I've picked up.
As mentioned in the game, the further away your enemy is when you melee attack them, the more damage you'll do.
Spears are extremely helpful when you have two melee enemies attacking you at once. If enemies gang up on you, find a spear, and throw it. Save spears for this purpose, and try not to throw them without a good reason. If you save more than you need and have some left over by the end of the level, use them up on the last few enemies.
Save a spear for the third boss: I was able to beat him without taking any damage, I just kept pressing K.
Spears are good for fighting one enemy at a time, because you can keep them at a distance and do more damage. However, swords are better for fighting several enemies and once, when you need to dispatch them quickly.
This game takes skill. Keep your mind and eyes open.

For me, it seems the controls are completely unresponsive, for example, I try to kick a head that is on the ground, I have to press kick 3 times for it to actually kick the head, and when I try to do executions, it doesn't do anything

Alright, another thing (that I don't think has anything to do with the developer); seriously, I just spent the time to get 167 kills in arcadian survival mode, and it didn't report. The only score up there was my first try that was 58. Why does kong do that? This isn't the first time it's done it to me either, but still. Oh yeah, and as for being able to go for forever in survival; ok, lop off someone's head, use it on almost all meleers to knock them over and then just finish them off, and then pick up a spear and use that for archers and everything else. I mean just poke em', don't throw it. Any time you manage to accidentally get away from your head-ball (that's what I like to call it) just either kick enemies over and finish them or run up to them, knock them down and finish. As I said, I got to 167 in arcadian that way, and by that point I was mostly just screwing around cause I was getting bored of slaughtering ppl by then.

Another thing; why would you make you number of carry over from one campaign to another if each you only have to restart each campaign when you get a game over? With how it is now you may as well go on ahead and let the enemy kill you every time you move on to a new campaign, because if you go on with only 2 or 1 life rather than doing that you run the risk of getting further on in the campaign and getting a game over then having to restart anyways. That's silly. You're lives should reset after each campaign.

Excellently executed, my only bad comments are the freezing and that I think you should only allow only two enemy soldiers to overlap because there were three swordsmen on top of each other and it was literally impossible for me to kill them. It's kinda like in warlords.
There are never more than 2 enemies in existence at a time. To kill 2 on top of each other, i would recommend one of the following: a) Use shield to get close then break a knee of one, then back away and then kill the other. b) use a running shield bash to knock over one, then kill the other c) use a jumping attack to kill one of them. d) Throw a spear at them

Man, the issue with all these games is that it feels like your character is out of control. He's randomly facing people and swinging in whatever fashion he feels like and randomly not finishing enemies off when I (at least try, due to that randomly facing enemies thing I mentioned earilier) to jump on them and not facing towards enemies I want him to face towards and it all feels sluggish as heck...I believe this has been an issue with many of the games from this particular developer, as almost all of them have felt similar so that means almost all of them have felt really difficult to control with any real level of accuracy and predictability. If there's some trick to it, I have yet to figure it out in any of the games.

he froze after throwing a spear in chapter 2 level 3 and is now after being killed once, 2 archers are shooting at him but he still wont move.
hmmm, i thought I had fixed that. I guess not. Please try switching off autodetect and setting all quality to high or medium, and let me know if it still freezes

Archer: I'll stand back here and shoot arrows blindly!
Spearman: Meh, I'll attack you if I feel like it
Swordmen: DIE &!^(# DIE! -flails sword wildly-
Seriously though, The swordmen don't let up, and if you get two on chapter 5 at the same time, you're screwed.
I suggest don't let 2 gang up on you. If they do, use your shield to get close, then break a knee. Or, kick a head at them to knock one over. Or throw a spear. Running shield bash is another way. Or jumping attack if you can time it...
You mean for kills? well Ive had thousands of kills during testing before it was on kongregate. So you lose :) I think a real test of skills is the "Random" survival mode. I challenge you to beat my score on that, which I will get in a minute....

I remember the good old times when i would play Achilles at school. I loved it, and now that there is a number 2 i am SO happy :D. Will help to report bugs if needed. Great Game!

DJStatika, my old friend...Been a fan of many games you have created and this one would be the installation continuous of the First one.
The gameplay and game control is fairly simple to operate as most of your game are made. But, as manac94 pointed out there seems to be a bug when you hit (K) Swipe/Sword attack to many times. The character locks up and is a sitting duck until he gets killed. I have also experienced where the character starts to flicker and then the enemy start nailing each other in the back. The archer has killed the swordman in front of him.

Hope this pic will give you a idea what we are talking about Archilles being locked into position.
Hi BriarKing, thanks for the feedback. I think the freezing is a problem with having bodies set to v.low in the graphics options. I will do my best to fix it today. In the mean time, try setting bodies to low or medium.
The spear is embedded in someones skull it would take too long for him to remove it. Also, if you could you would be able to kill everyone before they got close with 1 spear!
