"A very cookie cutter shooter" Anything but cookie cutter. Sorry that I took it way out of context Fricknmaniac. I just think this has to be an extremely engaging, well-made game that's way out of most of the others' league.

"Congratulations! You just won the Master Trophy Collector Badge..." But not the one for 500,000 points? Is it even possible to less than 500,000 points from a chain of 1000?

Best way to get the endurance badges (1k combo, 1million points, etc), is to move very little. Take your time...it will take longer to level up, but it will be much easier for much longer, and as your combo score climbs, so will your high score (if you get 1k combo, you should already have 1million points). Also, the best upgrades to get in the beginning are more bullets and faster shot, as they are the only necessary ones for immediate protection/survival when you're going for the long haul like this.

more and more... mouse or keyboard... pick one, blast it! but at least it doesn't lag or freeze on me. better rewards than today's BotD too, in all respects. megaweird, but megacool at the same time.

It would be nice to have a radar, or edge detection so I would know when I am getting close to the border of the screen.

How to get on the high score leaderboard:
1. Max out the +points skill, then work on maxing out shot speed, spread, crit, and pierce. Put spare points into health regen.
2. In the first few levels move as little as possible. Avoid picking up pixels. You should be able to get a 2000-3000 combo without much trouble.
3. The game gets hard when lots of Seekers starting showing up. When this happens start moving in a big circle around the map. Keep some space between you and the edge. SHOOT FORWARDS! Seekers will group up behind you, the threat is in front of you, keep shooting forwards.
4. Eventually there will be a big group of seekers behind you and very few other monsters on the map. Shoot back towards the seekers in small bursts, only killing a few at a time. The rate at which you kill them determines the rate at which new monsters appear.
5. You should be able to stay alive forever if you're not too greedy. I got over 50million points this way before I got bored and stopped playing.

I love this game, I love the arcade style of having no checkpoints and it should stay that way. Don't let anybody make you nerf this game cuz it's fantastic. It's not about luck at lvl30+, it's about having made the correct upgrade choices and TACTICS. People just shoot randomly and think that that's it but you have to be aware WHERE to shoot and HOW to MANEUVER. It's a great game and the highest level I've been so far is 40. The reason I have for saying that this game should NOT be made easier is because: I SUCK and I'm reaching lvl 40. I've seen faster shooters like this with faster moving enemies, harder hitting enemies and less control over your own vehicle. This game isn't that hard at all it's just CHALLENGING. Heck most challenging shooters would kill your after 3 or 4 hits and here, without upgrades even!, that's not the case (not to forget: free health regen AND health regen pickups!). All I can wish for here is another highscorelist with "Highest Level" =)

Using a minimap instead of relating in-screen position to overall position would help both issues, but there should also be clear map borders or the play area should wrap around.

Reminded me a lot of the game that was similar but you had a sword that went *WHOOSH* and *CLANG* and all the enemies were blobs and stuff... =D It did find this slightly more difficult to control but maybe I'm just crap! =P

The build I prefer is based off rapid fire, regen and fire spread. This is a highly mobile fighting style, focusing on avoidance and survivability then score or leveling quickly (which in turn means a better shot at king trophies). I start off with rapid fire - putting a single point in fire spread until rapid fire gets to be about level 4-5 before putting any more into spread. When spread is rank four I put a few levels into regen and a point each into crit and pierce for some added kick (it calculates per projectile). Due to the random nature of the encounters the rest is largely up to you. Peons will disappear and get replaced with wavers, seekers, vessels and packs of king grunts - you WILL get hit. Hopefully your regen will be high enough by then and your rapid fire powerups are plentiful enough to sit and play turret before having to haul ass again. Higher ranks of pierce will be essential to get rid of smaller enemies hiding in packs and to effectively deal with vessels.

if u choose to quit the game rather then end it by dying, u dont get the 500k pts award on kong, but u do get the trophy!

Hard Badge is time-consuming, but not too hard. The only issue I had was that it took a few tries for a King Shield to even appear - the last trophy I needed. For those saying that they aren't getting credit for killing a Fume King, you're probably NOT KILLING IT, you're letting it get too close and having it kamikaze. Also, something that should be fixed is that if you get all the Platinum Trophies before the Gold ones, you do not get credit for acquiring all Platinum Trophies, you need to get all Gold ones for it to credit. That aside, it was a fun game. 4/5

Got to Level 13 and could NOT get any further. That's when I discovered... the Upgrade Menu.
Seriously -.- Could have known about that earlier.....

Protip: max out bullet spread first, then atack speed and critical. Combine that with your dodge skills and you will get 1000 chain quickly

fun until i realized the only way to win was to not move at all. Makes it a shooting dodging skill game into a level as slowly as possible grinder

Absolutely outstanding game. I told myself I was only gonna play one more time 20 games ago. Highly addictive shooter/defense game. Having the power ups makes the game even that much greater. A 5/5 rating means you're a good developer. A 10/10 rating means you're an excellent developer. An EpicShadow/EpicShadow rating means you have the up most potential in creating games. This game is definitely an EpicShadow/EpicShadow.

One of the best space shooters in there. I love the fact that badges/achievements are challenging but not downright insane or purely luck based. I hate those games which have "do not get hit until level 30" badges, where reaching level 30 alone is a feat.

finally i got the hard badge, the last trophy i needed before i got the last 2 was the 1000 chain and i finally got it. I decided to try to make that game awesome, and i finally died at level 31 with 5,000,944 points. great game 5/5

Would be nice if you could access the trophy room, as well as the bestiary, from the in game pause/ upgrade screen. Also would be nice if you could see the current stats for your upgrades ie: piercing and critical hit chances, health regeneration speeds, and the others.

The voice in the intro for this game reminded me very strongly of the Kaminoan in the intro from 'Star Wars: Republic Commando'. Perhaps it's just my rubbish speakers, but I love the (probably accidental) similarity. Anyway, the game itself is great fun to play, and it gets quite hectic in later levels (what with enemies flying all over the place and multitudes of pixels glowing in the background), which adds to the excitement of this fast-paced arcade game. 5/5

Aw i thought there would be a score box for highest combo...... well all that time to get around 2500 chain was a waste lol

I enjoyed this game. Although it is a pretty generic shooter, I thought the levelling system, at least, was well thought out. It was really enjoyable seeing a ship go from shooting slow, single bullet to rapid firing four critical hit bullets at the same time. The graphics were nice, controls were tight, the enemies had a lot of charm, and gameplay was generally exciting.
I found rapid fire and regeneration to be the best skills (magnetism is a good skill if you want to level up quickly, e.g. for the "Get to Lvl 20 badge"; it also helps with staying alive because you are healed when you level up), with a Spread Fire upped to level 2-3 ASAP, so your rapid fire shoots more pellets. A little bit of critical Hit thrown in also helps. In general the level-up system was well-balanced though and none of the abilities felt useless to me.
4/5, keep up the good work!

Pixel Purge is a really fun game and kinda reminded me of Geometry Wars somewhat. Great game! 5/5! P.S. That 'Master Trophy Collector' Hard Badge was, in fact, very hard to get, but kept at it and finally got it(AFTER Badge of the Day for this game ended, by the way...). Regardless though, still worth the amount of effort I put into getting that badge. Platinum Chain trophy was the last one I needed, and boy was that one the hardest of the bunch. I did what some of you commenter's have said to do..by staying in one spot, upgrading Rapid and Spread and staying clear of many of the pixels as possible. That's exactly what I did and got to 1,000x at Level 4 without moving once. Well...I moved an inch to get a shield, but then immediately moved back to the same location.

A very balanced upgrade system... you find that no matter what you choose, you needed something else just as much.
The only problem I have with this game is that when I enter the upgrade select, I usually have my finger on the mouse button and inadvertently upgrade something I didn't want to.

This game is pretty interesting and engaging.
Well. some tips.
First, try maxing out the speed.
Then, the number of bullets.
Lastly, pump the rest to three, after that to six.
Thats how I survived and got the trophies anyway. Enjoy!

Thoroughly enjoying the game thus far. A few very minor suggestions I would make for any future updates:
1. Add a new sound for getting hit when you have a shield. It's very misleading when you're chasing a 1000 chain and you hear the damage sound without breaking your chain.
2. I often used space bar to open the upgrade menu and then released the mouse button, but in doing so selected the wrong upgrade. Is there any way to require a full mouse click in order to upgrade?
3. A link to the trophies directly from the post-game screen would be nice, instead of having to go back to the menu.
Good game! (Oh, and the menu screen timing out back to the intro voice is REALLY creepy when you live alone and are busy typing comments. haha :-))

That extremely long introduction could be summed up with "OH NOES EVIL GAIS, USE YUR LAZER GUNS TO ZAP THEM, PEW PEW!"

Combo isn't that hard. Just stay mid (like for the 60-sec-don't-move-achievement-or-so) and skill 1 in Rapid Fire and all the rest in Fire Spread. Should get 1250+ Combo till level 4 ... (you also get the 1'000'000 points achievement this way on an easy way, without skilling even points).

I'm having a little glitch with the tiny vessel guys sometimes where I get one last unkillable ship coming after me the rest of the game. At first I thought it might have just been a bunch of them layered, but after a good many minutes of attacking it I can't imagine there being that many.

Fun game, but I think it'd be better if when you died, you got to start on the same level.
I'll be honest, it's fun, but not fun enough to go up 20 levels again just to die and start over.
