what i most like about this game is that you have nearly not to control your followers.
in most of these kind of games you have your camera flashing around the screen all the time trying to keep on whit your units, but in this game, there is completely no need for that, first click settle, raise land, then click attack and sit back.

I love that you recreated this game, I loved Populus and admit I first played it on the PS1. Not a PC lad back then! I was skeptical that you could flash that old classic, but it was a great effort, I've bookmarked it and got populus up on Amazon to rebuy! Excellent stuff 5 stars.

@hypnotech: press the 'omniscience' spell button again - you're spying on the AI. @valsimot: no, but the music is free so it probably has been used elsewhere. @sirbite2: check out the tactics guide for better strategies - the first level is very easy *after you get the hang of it* :)

Fun fun. ^^: I liked the original Populous, and this is a fairly interesting remake of it. Simplified, and still amusing. 4/5 Rated down one star due to the clicking terrain being a pain in the neck to decypher when it's going to go up and when it's going to go down... Just when I thought I had it, it seemed to change the rules on me again, so I gave up with it. Luckily, the mouse wheel works for that.

@ericbloedow: thanks for the report, I've just looked and that is a genuine bug. The pause is expected (the game redraws the entire playing field) but the reward is currently broken. New version coming soon.. @frozenicepak: yes he is, take revenge by beating him... :) @mrlousy: yes the achievements do stack (if you look at the achievements page under 'options' you'll see a multiplier next to each one.) You can only get the reward for each level once (so you can't play level 1 ten times and get free thunderbolts), but do level 1 and level 34 and they'll be 10% cheaper.

It's a nice tribute game, and one of my old favorites, but even I can admit that this is a broken mess. Enemy AI doesn't even react to swamps, so if you put one under the enemy flag, their heroes just drown before even attacking you.

Note to anyone who hasn't played any game like this armageddon is for when you are winning and flood is for when you are losing... both destroy every building on the map and grant you population for them

Hate the way the AI keeps lowering your land as a tactic. Makes it hard to really enjoy the game as a god. It's like you are just a repairman. This is on the hard difficulty btw.

Populous is the best game ever. But this just sucks, sorry!
Everything happens very fast and confusing. I cant controll anything and after a while i win. My people get stuck little puddels. I cant click anywhere because that alters the ground. There is no way to view stats of houses and units. Women are destroying houses with cricket bats?

This game would be much better with a way to designate raise/lower land. Without that ability its really an exercise in frustration. You are essentially gambling that the computer will interpret what you want to do. So far, for me, it doesn't do that very well.

Well... It's looked great on the tutorial, but i begin to play the normal levels, and on the first i already stucked. Why? I passed around 5 minutes creating houses and blablabla, and other 10 fighting, and either my people or the enemy don't stop growing! In that way, the battle will finish never. 1/5, sadly

So, no way to turn off the dizzying constant cycle through combat so I can actually target and focus on things. Very poor UI design decision there. 1 star.

I'm a little confused, I had 80+ people and 400+ buildings. The computer had 10 people and 50+ buildings. I triggered Armageddon and aside from all buildings disappearing, I dropped to 1 person? The end battle was ultimately 1 vs. 1. Why would anyone use this?
