Lots of fun, however it's quite easy, I'd like to actually feel pressured to go protect my base. Apparently there's a "Space station is taking heavy damage" message, (suggested from the comments) which I never saw ever and having played this game multiple times from the past and coming back to it, I still have never seen that message

I like how this game added a little bit of time management (enemy upgrades) to the game, so it is not just like any other space shooter game.

My strategy is to just upgrade my cannon and occasionally my engine and focus on taking down the enemy shield (the gold orbs).

It took literally forever to figure out the fact that i could press space to access the upgrades and not need to go to the centre of the space station.

The main issues i see in this idea of mine are- servers have to be able to support a LOT of players, and people may prefer a group 'vote' on what the upgrades are, instead of having a player be human commander or brood mother. I think it has potential as a multiplayer game, but that's just me.

I've replayed this game multiple times over through the years... it's a very multiplayer-friendly concept. Why it hasn't been looked into yet is a mystery. Broods vs Humans. It would be interesting to see a player that uses the gathered ether (human material for broods)- to upgrade the capabilities of the entire team, and based on the upgrade level, a certain amount of players can play as an upgraded ship (like the ally upgrades) the damage they do, the damage they take, etc. This would work for both teams, since broods also upgrade. Also, all the defending turrets could also be players that chose to take control as a defense turret. when that turret is destroyed, they then are forced into doing space battle as another ship or brood. .

Fantastic game dude, love it. I thought that the pacing of enemy increase vs self increase was good, the death was punishing but not game ending, and the AI were convincing, chasing the player as they got to the mothersthip, but prioritizing the base when they were close to it. Very well made.

Great game... still. But this was up for BotD one month ago... oh well, 2 seconds to get my daily badge I guess haha.

The main thing I had to play against in this game was the unresponsiveness of the controls. Sort of weird that a '70's Atari like game doesn't work too hot in the 21st century. Maybe it's because my computer isn't set up for gaming. Though, I don't think I'm going to spring for gaming computer.

Well, I don't see what's so strange on this game being old style, and it having "nothing new"... it's been here since 2008, so it is ten years old already. If it had something new, that would have been strange at least.
I suspect someone is rating down your messages because of your disrespect towards developers and the site, as most people here like kongregate or they would have gone somewhere else, so please, don’t think it’s some kind of conspiracy. It’s just a common opinion.
That said, I wish you a nice day, and hope you find a game you like.

A toggle to shoot would save my fingers from going numb :p that aside i beat it so i'm good now.

The best method for me is attacking the yellow orbs. This gets the smaller ships to focus on you which lines them up to be shot. High risk high reward scenario. You also need to kill the yellow orbs earlier than later as enemy upgrades over time.

Dunno why everyone thinks this isn't a great game... it's just a bit grindy is all. Once you get the second or third shield upgrade, you can just start going to town on the shield orbs.

epic game xD and actually not as hard as it seems! your priority should be maxing out your cannons and getting triple shot as soon as possible. Upgrade your shield as and when necessary (when you notice you're dying easily). Start near the base facing the enemy (who will rotate around the base) but as you eventually get tankier and more destructive, go nearer to the enemy base. Once you're strong enough to take on the orange orbs, start upgrading engine so you're fast enough to chase them. Take out all the orange orbs and continue to upgrade things when you can (for me I did Allied Units sometimes, didn't really bother about the other 120 pt upgrades besides Triple Shot), and you can finish off the big red planet once you take out all the orange orbs

Was a little laggy for me, which made it annoying to play... but I was still able to beat the game so all's well that ends well

Could use health indicators on the enemies... and the base I'm defending... and my defensive installations... and allied fighters.

Good game, if a bit on the easy side. Too bad the site hosting the hard mode under 'bonus content' doesn't exist anymore...
