I agree with Omegnight, that is ridiculous, we should at least start at the beginning of that level. 2/5 until fixed.

Instead of having to start the entire game over after each death...why not just start at the previous save? Then if someone were to die at the end of a stage they wouldnt need to start ALL over but just redo that stage....Just my two cents. Bit of a pain having to redo everything from the start in my opinion. Fun game but that makes personally me give it a 3/5

Umm...is there something that makes your weapon break or disappear because I'm at level 8 and suddenly entirely weaponless.

Wonderful game in most ways I can see, but as Omegnight said in the top comments, the permanent death gets very frustrating. Especially if you've reached a high level. In light of its finer points though (combat, upgrading, controls), I'll give it a 4.5/5

No strategy when upgrading character. Since critical attacks are crit stat + attack, just putting into attack means you hit that EVERY time, rather than like 10 percent of the time. Getting 5 health per level up is an awful idea because going from say, 20 to 25 attack is MUCH more helpful than going from 120 to 125 health. I think the crit and health level ups should give you 10 instead of 5, or else straight attack will be the only way to go.

Spirit world boss was too easy. Charged up, killed em in 2 seconds.
What happens if you keep going, passed your wife into the door?
I didn't notice the door before it was too late.

I need some more direction... I don't understand when you get to level stats, or what some of the item stats even mean.
Also, maybe you could make it so you could choose an item to keep when you die, so you don't have to start totally, completely, all the way over. It would increase the replay value, is what I mean.

@abssoft
You level up when you reach a dead end. There is a minimum of three level ups per level, so occasionally you level up on the very first room. This also means there is a maximum of six level ups per level.
Health is also good to choose ocassionally in order to not die.

Definitely a 5/5, but I have some suggestions on things to add to this game to make it a little better for everyone:
0. Give more of an explanation, or at least leave the tutorial text up for a little longer before it disappears.
1. A confirmation screen before leaving the room after a boss without taking the elemental orb.
2. A full set bonus, i.e. Full lvl. 2 Purple Armor and Weapon gives +20 Armor .
3. A higher variety of monsters/dungeons, and maybe even some random treasure rooms/mimic monsters. Soulbound items that don't go away when you die? Playing through the same 3 dungeons and restarting completely with every death gets tiring.
4. Perhaps a Bestiary, describing the different kinds of monsters. It would add some context/backstory.
Thanks for the awesome game!

Ok I'm still trying to figure out what determines if you level up? and the secret to the level up is Never EVER Choose anything but attack for the level up item.

In reply to Omegnight's comment... this is after all a Rogue-like... it's only fitting that death might have permanent repercussions.
To KintoGames: Great game; brilliantly executed. I look forward to more of your work! Music is awesome, gameplay is awesome, art is awesome. Love it when gems like this show up on Kong. Keep it up!

What is the deal with boots? I'm on level 86, wearing level 4 shadow boots with 39 run speed. Found them long ago and now I never find anything even close. I'm staring at a glowing chest right now that contains a level 0 haunting boots of possession with only 3 run speed. -_-

When killing Fiends, be careful not to run into them the wrong way; they attack VERY quickly, so you can be wombo combo'd into startalloveratthebeginning.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Those damn Fiends. They lure you into a false sense of security by letting you slaughter them by the hundreds with no resistance, and then, BAMBAMBAMBAMBAM game over.

I like the way the soul helms are transparent. I wish the cape was optional so the soul plates could make your body transparent too.

game ONLY saves when you grab a new spell after boss fight. achievement ONLY updates when you save. so you HAVE to ditch chaos spell for weaker spell after level 10 to get the achievement.

Also, just passing through enemies damages them, no need to stand and beat the hell out of them. Just run past them, avoiding damage and dealing it at the same time. Two birds with one stone, eh?

Tips to guys having a hard time surviving. 1) The game has a checkpoint at around level 4. 2) Some brown chests contains better items than blue ones. 3) Increase crit and damage, put only a little in health. 4) If you have no health and mana, go back to already finished rooms and kill fiends and ghosts, they drop potions. 5) Abuse your magic skill. It makes killing everything easier, especially when you have the Pentagram aura.

Pretty enjoyable game, though the only thing I can think of that could use some clarification is when do you get to level up your stats. Sometimes I went through a whole floor without getting one, but then on others I've gotten them multiple rooms in a row.

Tips for beaginners: refresh game start till you get hammer with have best attack, if you have low health dont go foward just go to room with is clear you will find there easy monsters with often drops potions, if you find enyting with lifesteal take it, when meet boss first kill other monsters to make one to one fight then use charge attacks

Great game! I could play this forever. Keyboard commands would be a fantastic addition. Id type more but I must adventure lol

continues seem to be the equivalent of the number of souls you earn, which is every 4 levels. If you don't return to level 4 or 8 when you are out of souls, time to start over.

Needs: less random drops (if certain bosses always dropped a certain item instead of a +1 movespeed +0 damage) ; more variety and fire needs to suck less, also if certain stats rose each time you "levelled" (still not sure how the upgrades work, they seem to pop up at random) having so many stats at 0 for the whole game, or +10 on one for having a ridiculously weak weapon =/.

After the boss fight the trease room should be if you wish to take or not then progress through the room cause i lost my loot from accidental click

So, I saved my game and was at full health and mana... picked up where I left off and was at half health and 3/4's mana... is this standard? o.O

Good game, very dull if you level up attack three or four times though. Bosses are easy. Needs more challenge, less swarms of mobs.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This game is amazing. I have over 100 damage currently and almost 80 critical with 2 purples, 1 red, and 2 blues. One thing I would like to see is an intro so you can understand the description. Keep up the good work!
