I get to page 10 and it just keeps moving to the right. it wont move to anything i press. anyone know what i did wrong? my scripts is EXACTLY the same as theirs.

THIS TUTORIAL WORKS FINE WITH CS5. EVERYTHING worked for me. I completed all of the shootorials exactly as they are written. Just make sure that you are using an Actionscript 2.0 file. Any other problems are your own mistakes (making mistakes is how you learn).

YES I GOT it i got past page 9 wat i did: saved the action script into a folder on its own(make sure same letters and case etc) and then i saved the flash file to the same folder

I had a big problem on page 9 too. It was because I created my own image, and didn't link it to a class, meaning good code wasn't affecting anything. caps matter, spaces and empty lines not a whole lot.

Too bad the shootorials aren't made for AS3. It would be great if they were: it's hard to find good tutorials for AS3.

I'm stuck on part 9, can someone help? I have CS3 and I wrote the code like it said and saved the fla file with de .as at the same directory The ship is supposed to fly across the screen from left too right but it didn't when I Test Movie. Any tips?

Now I have a different problem. My ship isn't even there! Error: "Symbol=Symbol 1, layer=Layer 1, frame=1, Line=1 The class or interface 'ship' could not be loaded." Wha-a-a-a-a-a-a-at?

Yay! My Ship can do the fly!
The Script could be shorter though:
I.e.:
foobar = foobar + 6
Is the same as
foobar += 6
Just sayin' :D
PS: I see you are using a Mac....

I'm using CS5, but My ship just won't move. What's up with that? I'm on step 9, my code looks right, and I have followed the instructions to the letter. I'm even using actionscript 2!

When i do a test, all i get is a blank screen. I have a error that says 'The class or interface 'Ship' could not be loaded.' Help please!!!

am i to stupid for this?... i can see the ship..but everytime i press test, i do have 8 ERRORS...and i dont know how to fix them. first of all well.. i got the german version :D somthing like :Classes can only be defined in external class in action script 2.0... please help me >:[

Okay so I got everything up to page 10 in the Class correctly, (spaces and typing) although my ship still won't move Right when I press the Right Arrow Key. And yes, I have saved all three files (game.fla, ship.as, and game.swf) together in the same folder. And when I converted the ship to a symbol I named all three areas Ship
I keep getting these same two Compiler Errors:
(Location) Ship.as Line 2 (Description) Statement block must be terminated by '}' (Source) {
(Location) Ship.as Line 16 (Description) Syntax error. (Source) }
Please help!

If your ship only moves down and right no matter what key you press, make sure you used he minus (-) sign for velocity when pressing up and left, not the plus (+) sign.
