No ingame tutorial. found the video after a while. found the pause video button after being already frustrated by the faster-than-read-speed of the video. The video does not explain step by step. I guess you need a UI designer to make a good tutorial.

Much more harder than Codex of Alchemy and Manufactoria. In the way that you have to invent the things, which you need first before using them, which is a task too.

I've finally figured out more intuitive controls. The current controls have never suited me and so this is my idea: the silicons and metal would all have sepertae keys (1,2 and 3) then the vias and select tool (4 and 5). The shift functions should be delete (for keys 1-4). This means when making a mistake, you can correct it with the shift key immediately, and it makes deleting silicon more controlled.

Aigh, I'm so close to finishing the 8-bit SRAM! I just figured out that using the same enable for reading and writing each latch is really dumb...

I wish that I could figure this game out but the tutorial is pretty much useless. instead of easing you in it just throws everything at you with no explanations whatsoever. In short needs several small tutorial Levels not videos with better explanations.

I always wanted to understand the basics of transistors and how computers work and I'm sure many others do too, the problem is this game is a bit danuting at first and most people will dismiss it first hand. It really needs only 2 things done to make this the success it deserves to be, first a step by step tutorial from the basics, like "when this wire is positive it allows current to pass through this wire" and second you should allow the user to switch connection pads on and off themselves and play around at first to learn how things work.

erm, how do i do this -watches tutorial- oooooh
level 2: eeerm how do i do this -reads a comment- ooooh
level 3: i give up :'(

doing good till lvl 5.. build a dual fixed frequency oscillator?? the game really makes it hard on you when you dont even know what it is your are trying to build..

y'all are prolly sick of hearing from me, but to help out with his cheat sheet, the PNP/NPN thing can be confusing to ppl who don't know circuitry. red or yellow will conduct the same, either one can cross under metal without shorting out (unless there's a via to connect the metal) if it's yellow with a red gate, that's 'normally closed' which means the yellow gets power until the red gate has power applied to it to block current. red with a yellow gate is 'normally open' which will only allow power through the red if power is applied to the yellow. one little trick, two yellow gates one after the other means it needs both, but two yellow gates on the same spot, opposite sides, will accept either on. aka an 'OR' ;)

My Cheat Sheet:
N is Red,
P is Yellow (Press Shift for Yellow.2 Annoying, I know.)
NPN (AND logic gate) (Conducts through N when P, which is on top, is active and N is active)
PNP (NOT logic gate) (Conducts through P when N, which is on top, is inactive and P is active)
So, in a NPN, P permits N to pass.
In a PNP, N blocks P from passing.
This means all your PNP and NPN connections will form T shapes.

gotta use 2 comments for it, but got bored and sandboxed a bit. dunno what use it'd be yet but was fun coming up with it lol. it's a 4-bit serial data transmission, only one data line::eNrtWlGCqyAMlIw/e4a9wv6/s7z7X2RbBFFIQsC6rS21/nQyJGIYAnT+mb+//ruv

You should add a score calculations that count gates and "via" connections - less is better.
And a table of records. "Economy should be economical"... (c) L.I.Brejnev )))

I loved Alchemical Engineering and thought I'd take a look at this one, but... this one's just too much advanced engineer stuff for me, not enough gameness.

I agree with wxcvbn999, this genre of games should have it's own tag on Kong. This one, manufactoria, codex, and also tile factory and light bot 1 and 2. call it 'programming' or something. Thumbs up for this part of the comment please, because these kind of games provoke more deep logical thought than ANYTHING you'll find almost ANYWHERE.
(...and YES, got level 14 with only 4 cells. :D Took a day and a half to find the ONE little gate I needed to add, and where, to fix the whole thing...)

This 'game' is both confusing and inadequate. It screams out for more information at the beginning on how/why a transistor creates ones and zeros. Where is ground/earth? Simply adding a tutorial video does not suffice (it only adds to the puzzle). What you need is a story at the beginning like all other games telling me how to conqure the land of, say, Mount Sillycon. You are like a mom trying to make me wear pants, when all I want to is to walk in a dinosaur costume. This should be more fun! 3/5

Guys, there are pause/play buttons in the top right corner of the tutorial so it doesn't go so fast. Also, "constrictor"? Nice.

This game lacks a proper tutorial or guide, which, unless you know how these things work (which most of us don't), it's very hard to understand with what's already in the game. However, once you get the hang of it, this is a really great, albeit hard, game. 4/5

Perhaps in a future remake of this game, you could give complete beginners some helpful tips on how to create things beyond "if" and "if not" gates. I can't imagine how you're supposed to create a power-on reset generator using only those two components, but I'd be willing to learn if the game would only teach me.

Hold shift to delete metal or draw P silicon. I too wish this had a better tutorial, because this is something I want to learn about and this would be a good way to get rudimentary knowledge as a starting point. Refer to NotJack's top rated comment for very important information. And refer to wikipedia's articles on boolean operators and logic gates to find out more clearly what your objective is.

i wish i understood the specifications better. I tend to be just looking at the verification screen to figure out what's going on. I'm now stuck. I'm not thick... but i can't do this game beyond level 11 (and i can't do 10 either). Maybe if i had studied electronics or maths to a higher level...
