the first game was so simple but it was very fun to have a tower over twice the size of your foes and to then see it get cut in half ths game has great updates but its just not the same i think its the graphics that realy take that simple feel from this game and the option of maybe a 50 card deck would be nivce 75 is a little too big a minimum its just too much but the updates realy are nice and make the game flow well.

And the opponent conveniently "had to go" precisely when I was going to slay him. That's amazing the amount of honest fair-play gamers who just need to run as they're about to lose.
Hoping this exploit will be changed, I don't feel playing is worth at all till the system is changed there.

Sacrificing 1 to kill 2? I do not like these new "computer only" cards. It's hard enough with limited resources. Killing off builders, recruits and mages should cost ALOT more than 1 of their own...

Sure are a lot of crybabies around this place. The key is deck management. Simple advice follows: 1. Remove the cards that are easily replaced by more effective cards. ex: Knights cost 10 weapons for 10 power while Platoons are 7/9. By the same reasoning, Wall should be replaced by Fence and Tower replaced by Tavern. 2. Recruit/Mage/Builder cards should be maxed at 5 and total deck minimized to 75 to increase their appearance rate. 3. Pick your play style to match your cards. Also, when you discard cards, you can throw 3 at once. This is useful for completely restocking your hand.

Im sorry, but i really tried to enjoy this game. I did for a while, but when it got to the hard levels, i get 6-8 turns in and someone always pulls out a trojan horse and that ends it all, since i wasn't able to upgrade my castle due to the immense lack of resources. It's just incredibly lucky if you win, and there is really no skill involved, except maybe a few experienced decisions. but thats all. its not fun when you can't do anything and you suddenly die.

alright, after my opponent threw down a curse card followed by a sacrifice in every category, i think it's safe to say this game is overly obnoxious and will receive a 1/5 from me.

I just beat hard. Here's a few tips:
1- OPTIMIZE YOUR DECK!!
get 5 builders, recruits, wizards and remove everything you don't like until you have only 75 cards. The goal here is to get to a point where you consistently have more ressources than the cpu. If you have the sacrifices cards, get a few of them and use it strategically.
2- If you get a crappy first hand/the cpu blasts you with curse or something powerful in the first few turns... try again ! Just reset a few times until you have a nice hand.
3- Be patient. The cpu always has the upper hand at the beginning so just try to survive until the tide turns.

...I am clueless how to play this game. But maybe there should have been some deck shuffle cards in here? Because it seems this game would be a pain in the behind to play due to the simple, simple fact that everything is luck dependent. Sure there's a BIT of strategy involved, but luck just doesnt seem abundant enough to make this game on top the multiplayer lists. I say 3/5, due to the matching music and the essence that is captured.

Bug: was playing the 2nd last game of hard difficulty when i used quake it became the opponents (computer) turn, the computer just sat there forever and did nothing, i was about 2 turns away from winning >.>

Great way to make a already good game worse. to many turns spend doing nothing since they kill our resource providers. 1/5

Pointless to play a game when you get to hard mode and there is basically no possible way to win. Not only does the other side have all the resources necessary to whoop you from the get go, but then if you even get close to building up any resources every turn is a sacrifice card. Plus they have all the top cards as well. Down to castles to beat on hard and I will prob never come back to this game again.

The second medium can technically be classified as a hard because of all the quitters that play this game. It's time to grow up kids, losing is not a big deal, because it's just a game.

I got medium badge first than easy... Yeah...
Well, it's because my Opera cookies was still here!
I played this game before badges, always happens .-.

What is with how ABSOLUTELY RIGGED TO SHIT those "Sacrifice mage/recruiter/builder" cards? Like people have already said, it's like impossible to win without severe luck now. I mean if a person has 5 sacrifice mage/recruiter/builder cards, or hell just 3 which they all seem to have, you're down to 1 again after using FIVE of your recruit cards. That's just crap.
I loved the first castle wars. This one, however, pretty much sucked.

I actually really enjoyed the first CastleWars single player. This version is far, far too dependent on luck. The Hard campaign cripples you, and essentially you have to get the right draws while the computer gets poor ones. The minimum of 75 cards (with the corresponding maximum of 5 of each) makes it impossible to get a ratio which would tip the odds in your favor, or at least even things out.
I agree Card Info should be present on mouse over (maybe after a two or three second delay), and leaving a multiplayer game should count as a loss for the one who leaves, or at least a win for the person staying.
Card games are very difficult to make and balance, and AI isn't as easy as it may seem. Castle Wars 2 could be much better, and I encourage the author to address these issues. With additional cards and less reliance on randomness, this could be a deep, fun game.

Decent enough game, although the limit on the income cards should be a little higher at least. Having to restart a hard mode game multiple times just until you get lucky with those cards is stupid and easily remedied by increasing it to something like 10 each.

I just beat hard, the trick is to make your deck primarily defensive. You cant really kill the hard ai without him killing you first, and he has more resources and a well rounded deck so if you have a well rounded deck you are screwed. The only hard part is that the cpu sometimes gets all these "kill two enemy builders/mages for one" and leaves you with no resources. Though he will continually kill all his recruits for nothing, so that makes it not as bad.

kill builder cards are a terrible and frustrating addition to the game. campaign=tediously and unnecessarily hard. otherwise great update on all other aspects. :)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Looks like a lot of effort to make a game ... worse? Looks like a glitch keeps me from making a custom deck. There was no reason to take card info off of mouse-over where it was before and no reason to line up the resource counts and make them harder to track.

Wow the computer on hard mode does the same thing as people online... i was about to win it goes to the computers turn and its been 5 minutes and it still hasnt played >.>

Guys, want a better thing to occur? If the opponent quits how about its just a tie >.> If you win, you can team up with another person and just get keys nonstop quickly. I know it stinks, just choose an opponent who is new and they probably wont think of quitting.

Hard isn't all that hard with a really good deck. Use a lot of the cards to make more resources/increase your resource income. Also don't bother with anything that costs less than 7 to build or attack with. Play as many cards to increase your resource income at the beginning as you can. If you don't have a good income after a few turns, start over. By doing this, when you play on, it's not that hard to win, even on hard.

Someone, I forget who, posted a fool-proof deck to beating hard mode. I beat it only losing once with this deck, so to every body who says "The hard is badge is impossible not even the great and almighty Tasselfoot can beat this crap", just search the comments and stop posting frustrated hate.

best stratige ever
only put in cards that get you recorces mainly crystals bricks and wpns , then add all the card that build your castle and add only the strongest attack cards , either keep doing pixes or just take his wall down and do dragon , that card is beast , 1 dragon owned the boss on hard with no wall for him

I love the original castle wars to death and like many others have said, this game drops all of the original's charm and good interface in favor or looking nicer. I think the towers should grow WAY taller and the cards DEFINITELY should have had rollover text or something better than the horrible implementation they have here. If there ever is a castle wars three, I expect much better than this. 2/5.

The concept is great, the graphics are great, but here's a typical scenario in campaign mode: "Oh look his castle starts at only 13 hah time to obliterate hi- OMG WTF BBQ HOW HAS HE QUAKED ME AND TROJAN HORSED ME ALREADY- WHAT HE'S GOTTEN 2 PIXIES NOW" I haven't even tried multiplayer yet and by 90% of the comments i'm not going to unless you add leaving=lose. 3/5

Can I suggest a badge type? F*cking impossible-120 points because that title has to fit on the "hard" badge. I can't even play my cards. This is ridiculous. The hard campaign is actually an impossible campaign. Can Greg pretty please with sugar on top delete that badge? I'm crazy about badges and will attempt to achieve any badges I know but this one, no matter how many times I try, I can't defeat any tribes.

Great game. My only beef was with the UI...it wasn't clear to me that I had to go to the main screen to organize my deck, and I couldn't figure out how to go back to the main screen and create a profile once I'd logged in as a guest.
And a tip to beginners: focus heavily on your unit cards (builder, recruit mage)
