Whilst there are many other great f2p MMORPGs, Runescape has been my favourite for at least 5 years. There are no dead ends in runescape, always a new place to go, a new weapon to craft. I cannot see why people give Runescape such a bad name. Obviously, it is not graphically amazing, but if you play video games for the graphics, you aren't playing video games properly.

I've been playing runescape for around six years now and I still come back to do more on a regular basis. It's an amazing game, and while it's not the flashiest it has an incredible amount of depth. Not being limited to a certain class is also nice, it allows one character to do anything in the game world and there's almost always a way to get something for yourself. The only thing that bugs me is like many mmos once you get to higher levels you're pretty much limited to grinding to get reasonable amounts of xp in a skill and that can get tedious.

If you are here to play RuneScape, you won't find it here anymore. Not for quite a while! That said, RuneScape is still very much alive. If you miss playing back in the day, we have OldSchool RuneScape which takes you back to 2007 with new content and constant updates. Or, if you want to see if you still have your old account, or just want the better graphics, you can play Runescape 3. Both variations of RS can be found on Google rather easily. PSA, you can also play RuneScape on your phone. Happy Scaping!

ive looked back at the last 100 comments and noticed not one person has mentioned that this game gets updated normally each week. (mainly members updates but still it updates) Also level 136 member here ^^ (check my hiscores on the normal rs website if you want, my display name is bappie) been playing it since 2006 and im still nowhere near maxing out all my stats, very long game with so many different things to do. and Terenco12345, there is a limit to leveling up, all skills go to 99, except dungeoneering which goes to 120, the max combat level on a F2P is 126 and max for member is 138.

RuneScape gets bad press quite often from people who have never gave it a chance. RuneScape is not graphically amazing, true, however keep in mind it's a browser based. It's also got quite a lot to offer non paying players (and what do other games, EG: WoW offer you? Up to level 10?)
One of the greatest things about RuneScape is, unlike other MMORPGs, it doesn't solely revolve around combat. You can do a hell of a lot of other things without having to even touch a monster - a lot of freedom without the restrictions of combat.

This game is overwhelming yet relaxing and thrilling. I think this is a game everybody should try at least once, and it has earned 5 stars from me.

If you have food, you can run through the stronghold of security for a free 10k, four emotes, and the best boots in f2p. Also, the stronghold of player safety will give you another 10k and the best gloves in f2p until you reach 40 ranged. Go through the barred doors and open the chest in the middle of the room.

It seems as if this game is still getting traffic here on Kongregate though is not working. Fortunately for those of you having issues - the game is still available. There are now two versions the older version (that you would have played had you played in the past, with all of your progress still there), called Runescape 3, and a newer 'reset' version created from a 2007 backup that everyone started new on, this oldschool (OSRS) version was created for players who did not like the Evolution of Combat update - it is also MTX free. Both versions have F2P and P2P, membership can be obtained with $$ or ingame gold. Runescape 3 may be found at Runescape.com, and OSRS may be found at Oldschool.Runescape.com

This game has been around for a very long time, but if your only playing as a f2p then you will see bot spam in every major bank telling you to go to websites to buy money, not only do the bots spam in major player areas, the bots cut all of the yew trees and steal all of the fish. Other than the STUPID bots, this game is pretty good. It definetly deserves atleast a 4 for staying loyal to its players and being affordable to would-be members.

I hate people who continously go 'It's not about grahpics it's not about graphics!' when you say their favourite game has bad graphics and then they themselves go on to say RuneScape has bad graphics - I thought it wasn't about graphics... 'Mario's the best game ever you don't like Mario because you're a graphics whore!!!!!!' then they say 'Eurgh RuneScape like gayscape that game has crappy graphics' and they laugh at you.

This game has way better graphics than probably all other games on this website, yet it's rated lower because of them, it has way better gameplay than most games on this website, yet it is rated lower because of it. I mean, COME ON? Why is it that people rate this game low? There is nothing wrong with it!

As I know, Most MASSIVE MMORPG games get downrated for this reason or that reason, but they don't give it a chance because they are a newb at it. Give it a try. See if you like it, if you do continue. If not stop reading this comment. You are just wasting your time if you don't like it. You don't know if you like it if you haven't tried it yet. Wow, what does WoW let you get up to for free now? Level 20 and basically all it is combat. In Runescape you can get up to 126 for free, and theres alot to do without combat, just like Eambo as said. I would like to end it with, DON'T HATE MMORPGS YOU HAVEN'T TRIED YET, ITS JUST SO ANNOYING. That is why the rating is so low, but it is so fun.

It's not the length of the comment that counts. It's about: 1) People suggesting things that have been suggested countless times 2) Suggestions that are poorly considered through 3) Anything related to Runescape needing badges 4) Gibberish, scam encouriging, links no one gives a shit about, or have a dedicated forum thread 5) Poor grammar 6) And anything else that suggests that you are somewhat retarted and didn't put much thought behind your comment.

Weebelz, you just prooved my theory of Jagex not working hard enough wrong.
For one week of going back to this game after a long time of seperation I noticed the high amount of bots. I said to friends that Jagex is getting lazy with the game but I was wrong (And a bit stupid, they update this game constantly). So I started reporting every bot I saw, and now guess what? An update for less bots! Perfect, just great! Thanks Jagex! (5/5 of course)

@Spear Sorry, but this game will never get badges. It would be hard to impliment the in the first place, and we want people to play Runescape because they want to, not because there is some reward.

This game was really well made i had played this for about 2-3 years and it doesnt bore me at all people only rate it down because of the graphics its not about the graphics games should be rated on how the gameplay is like after the super nintendo people loved the games because of the gameplay not graphics they games were good and so is this so why is it that many "kids" rate it down because they don't do anything try to play a earlyer console and to see why those games are superior than todays games im not saying the older ones are better but atleast try them out so you kids can see why this game is loved by many people because the gameplay is everything in a game without it there is no game to play thats why this is low on ratings because so many assholes think its all about graphics go do your self a favor and hang yourself while real men and women get the enjoyment of playing this great game i rest my case

I had an account on the original runescape, level 78, then i had a level 105 about 3 years ago with the quest skill cape, i logged in today to look at the changes and my 105 isnt even considered good anymore haha.

Kerroscene i remeber that 2 when the old graphics use to be so corny but kool. I got killed by a unicorn they used to be like lvl 20 now theyr like lvl 15.

jagex put ALOT of effort into this as if you think of it, how big is the land of runescape? how many items and and other things are there? how many npc's are there and their wide ability to of features to talk? to put all that into a game and to make it work must have took a lot of effort and research i am proud to play such a game and say i like it!

I love the healing system of food. While your guts are being stabbed you can just eat a swordfish, in one bite i noticed, and be A ok!

well ledinuks4, it seems you're pointing out the same thing, "ass holes" which will be found everywhere, and you sucky computer which can't process runescape well. nothing about runescape is bad except the things you or your stuff makes bad.

I have never and i mean never! Okayed a game as good as this! It needs more than 5 stars. I'd give it 10 stars. Epic quests. (more better than WoW quests and star rise.) Really cool music. No wonde it was rated most played mmorpg in the guiness world records 2007. Click + if this is all true. (been playing for 3 years. Its great.)

I actually agree with mathias that grinding is a big problem but with all the things to do who cares? I stop playing for a year and come back to find new stuff to do, it's addicting!

Tip for the poor. Since the trading place has been updated you can fill your inventory with clay and go to fountain and turn to soft clay. It is very cheap and earns money fast.

If you are having problems getting to the game, scroll to the bottom of the Runescape page, click "Continue to full website," then click the 'Play Free Now" button in the top right corner. If you have a Runescape account, you should be able to log in. Any issues getting the game to run are likely because you need to update Java.

the beginning of the game, I mean before you enter rune scape it's self, sucks personally I liked the old rune scape beginner guide. The one were you ran from one destination to the other and figured out how to work each skill. That one was fun but now it's a crappy guy fighting a dragon in a small dungeon which to me is not fun. I think that the beginning to the game is it's major down fall so to all you starters that read this comment please play until your a level 15 at at least 4 things trust me after that (unless the skill is completely useless) things will start getting better and better
