how to beat the dog... 1) let him jump then go under him while he is in the air, shoot his butt 2) let him jump over you again and shoot his butt 3) jump over him when he charges and shoot his butt.

To all those complaining about the difficulty: it's supposed to be hard to show that he loved the one who died so much that he would risk life and limb to bring her back from the dead.

I would like to credit the voice actor in this game. Although it was only one gasp. IT WAS LIKE WOAH!
I think the message is saying that you have to learn to let go. Just because you can go to the underworld and get someone back doesn't mean you or them is going to last when you emerge. Kinda like Dante's Inferno I guess.

Okay, this is a great story, sure. I think I understand the ending from the comments, but damn, dude! You messed up with the gameplay. Some would call this a "fast-paced" game. I call it harder than hitting a grain of sand with a bow and arrow from a hot air balloon while trapped in a cloud. The story was good, the graphics were fine, but the gameplay was horrible. The enemies were too fast and too strong. The first time I got pissed off was the part when you first drop into the underworld. Remember, the room with the two bats and the snake? Talk about beginners trap! Seriously, if you don't get out of the way, you die. In the first half a second. Then, you have to turn around in midair and shoot the bat flying at you, followed by landing, turning, and shooting at the snake and second bat. Even after I managed to figure that out, I spent 10 mins pulling it off. But it's symbolic, right? I agree. However, that is NOT an excuse to make a game impossible.
Next: Enemies.

That is a very saddening game. I loved it, the soundtrack was moving, the Greek mythology behind the return, and in the end, the ultimate paradox. You never went through that whole journey, only in your head. I wish to rate it infinite/infinite, this moved me and I hope it moves others. I have no other explanation of feelings.

Rsowowaa, this isn't a game. It's a lesson. Morale: Do not dwell on what is past *Behind you* and instead look to the future...and NEVER LOOK BACK to the past.

@MarineDown, When dog jumps to edge, those zigzag things, it turns back and then shoot it to back... you must shoot it to back :)

Wow this game is amazeing.. It makes me feel almost the same as it did when I played loved.. The gameplaying is about the same you walk around dodgeing obsticles and jumping over.... But the plots are very different.. Besides the sub concious thing.. Ahh.. typos.. But great game.

Stage 3 of mourning: bargaining. Maybe if I go to the underworld and kill a bunch of snakes and spiders and shoot cerberus in the ass and spit in Hades' eye and get her soul from Charon and don't look back at her DEAD spirit as I leave the underworld no matter what I do, she won't be nothing but a corpse any longer.
Unfortunately, that doesn't work. Just a dream.
... but right now, I am just so irritated by the gameplay that I don't want to rate this. I wish there was an option to make it a little slower. This was an excercise in frustration for me, and not worth the story, although it was a good use of the medium for storytelling.

Great game! I loved that it wasn't too easy and the ending was cool! The thing that if you look back your love dissapears was cool. 5/5

This is obviously a story of someone losing a loved one.... This game really relates to me because my girlfriend drowned when she went to Canada............

Perhaps I'm just greedy, but it irritates me that people highly rate a game with terrible game play just because it has the semblance of a story (that we should be able to take as a given). I guess I'm not so irritated with the high rating as I am with the fact that it probably does deserve it; goddam no one seems to care about making games that connect with the player, so when we're given just a pittance of nourishment in this category we overlook the frighteningly bad effort overall.

This... May just be one of the best games I have ever played. This game is wonderful, and a feel others should see it. Thank you, Mr. TerryCavanagh, please continue making games like this one. Five out of five.

stop complaining about this game being too difficult...the bosses arent too hard...the puzzles are all just timing and precision...the pitch black episode of the game is to help display the story so others can understand what is going on in the game! i find it annoying how people just play a game for badges and awards...they never look deeper into games like these to understand the meanings...people who do look for deeper meanings in such games can see that TerryCavanagh obviously made this game so that it showed an emotional story.......such can be shown in games like immortall.

seriously....if your going to make a story based game, dont make some parts so damn annoying...i really want to finish the game but my annoyance of particular parts is hindering me from doing so....

It's a spin off of Orpheus in Greek mythology, look it up on wikipedia if ya want a better understanding. Although it does have a slight psychological theme to it, it really isn't all that dramatic. Doesn't even compare to the psychological extremes that The Company of Myself reached in it's complete utter isolation and sadness. That said, the horrible gameplay and crummy graphics alone turn away many players right at the get-go. That, and it gets annoying quick. They most prolly don't even understand any of the meaning behind it, nor would they care. That's why the rating is so low. 3/5
