Consecration increases damage against enemies that have a strength against your Heroes element. After three consecration boosts (which can be reduced by the Elemental stat on your Hero), your heroes effectively have an elemental advanage over two elements. (please + to keep it up, so many people ask this.)

I was wondering if you could include a description of the effects of the inflictions that units inflict on their enemies, as all of us are not avid players of the series.

There are 26 Storyline Quests (takes a while). Do not use melee units. Max your hero's Ranged or Magic Use accordingly. Save heroes with good unit pairings regardless of element -- there are items that change elements later in the game.
With 38 Magic Use, 22 Elemental, and 14 Base attack power, I cleared most maps with only 4 units placed.

I really think that Melee units get passed over because they are useless against flying, maybe make them only able to hit flying units. I suggest instead of being unable to attack flying units, give Melee units a penalty while attacking Flying units. ( -50% attack rate, +15% dodge rate etc.) I would love to use Melee more but honestly they just aren't worth it right now. I feel like I'm missing some of the game. Anyone else feel that way?

This protector's really good, just a few things that I'd like to see: 1) Selling units in battle. I don't know how many times I've placed the wrong unit or just wanted to change it, but I couldn't. I've actually lost because of this before. 2) Customizing unit's AI. Like say always attack first or last, or attack weakest or strongest or ones without the status effects that you give, or attack every other one. 3) More info on stuff. Preferably in the protectopedia like before, but as long as you can see more stats on your units and enemy units, it'd be good. 4) Make melee soldiers worth a darn after the first two missions. Either make them stronger, bigger range or some that can hit flying. Anyway, this is still a great game, and I hope you make some of these changes in Protector V at least. 5/5

the looks of it is like candy for the eyes and is just so far above and beyond what has come before. the music, just so much better. drew me in when I was letting it load up. About to start playing a game in a series that has shown me that some developers, well a developer, that I've followed can not just stedily improve, but improve drastically with each step. Even venturing out to try new styles and do them well. Thank you kind sir, for putting your talents on display for all of us and not taking over the world... but it would be an awesome world if you took it over....

A wonderful game, and the best Protector to date in my opinion. If there's anything I could suggest to make this better, it would be to expand the Protectopedia to include more details on gameplay mechanics: such as descriptions of special abilities, and even the basic stats of units. I still don't even know exactly what most of the abilities do, just what I can guess using common sense. Overall, though, a great game, and deserves my 5-star rating and favorite. Keep up the great games!

I'd like the protectopedia to be more precise about the different things ... Like what is consecration ? I don't have a clue there.

Get a hero with the Protectorate's ranged units (patroler and defender) ASAP and use that hero only for the rest of the game. Put all level ups towards ranged for both you and the hero. Those are OP due to consecrate, which negates any weakness your element has to any mobs.

Great game, more indepth strategy needed, also nice RPG style upgrading. Overall definately worth playing for quite sometime. Also "lol" at the "Time Wasted" heading for time spent on game :P

I'm not really sure that items that increase steal chance actually do anything, even when equipped to cutpurse and gentleman.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Black_Death1400: The steal bonus only applies if the unit itself can even try to steal in the first place. Get a hero who can recruit cutpurses.

@BLYXX: it's not Kong "borrowing" from other sites; developers rarely host their games on a single website. Why would you?

One thing I found wrong in this game, well more of an inconvenience, is that the talents are ordered randomly. This leads to a lot of excess effort when looking for how to acquire talents. Maybe you could group them by how they are obtained i.e. all acquired from consumables in one group and all gained from quests in another.

Buying the Investor talent off a scroll gives a +5 gold per completed quest talent. That means you need to do 400(FOUR HUNDRED) quests just to recoup the initial investment in the talent scroll! O.o

Great game! The one thing I wish is that there were some way to sort items. Even the ability to highlight which items will, say, change my hero's element -- without having to laboriously search through dozens of roll-over texts, since you can't tell what an item does by looking at it -- would be an improvement.

Me too Ascander, originally I had intended to do the same for this.. But it became obvious having a coloured sprite for each unit in each element would require so much art, time and file space it just wasn't possible. Let alone the restrictions of flash. Even with 46 variations things were getting slow to work with. If I'd elementalized them all in the way Protector III does I'd be looking at 230 individual sprites, about a 9mb filesize and a very high cost just to have coloured clothes on the units... If you then imagine having 4 levels so that they visually improve on level up... 920 sprites. Obviously I had to come up with another solution.

from PatoFeliz (I didn't see it here in comments):
To what you asked about “elemental” in protector IV. It means that improves the advantage you make with elements. Let’s say that you are fighting an enemy that is cold, and its weakness is fire, and that you would inflict him 50% more damage than usually. With an improvement in elemental, you make 52% of extra damage. And it applies to weakness too. If you attack this enemy with cold, let’s say you would have a 50% damage penalization for hitting him with cold. With “elemental”, this penaliation is reduced to 48%, and so on with every skill point you invest.

Simple suggestion: When you earn a new Talent, it should glow slightly or stand out in some way the first time you visit the 'Skill' page after being awarded it. It is a pain to mouse over all the different talents to find the one you were just awarded and see what it does.

Can you at least be semi-literate if you're not happy with a game? Using text speak like h8 just makes you look funny to others.

This game needs an in-game explanation of all the terms.
What exactly is "Gold return"? Interest on remaining gold at a wave end? More gold given to you after a mission? More gold per kill?
What about Steal? Is that a chance to increase gold drops from monsters?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i agree. the real challenge of the game is trying to find out what the elements really look like, otherwise you can end up using physical instead of energy

needs a sell unit button desperately. i dont want to have to buy a piece of land just because i put down the wrong unit. other than that 5/5

You should only be leveling up your basic units for the first 2 damage increases (Which is 3 level-ups). Usually end up getting 2 swords, 2 crossbows, 2 mages, and then end up with 4-8 archmages by the end. All with only 3 level-ups.

This is an unusually awe-filled Tower Defense-type game. Instead of small tanks and only one selection you have many choices to choose from. This game has a good back-up to decide what type of soldiers you will seem to use most which I find stupendous. The only problem I find wrong with this game is the fact that you can't get rid of unliked soldiers.

if u can get ur mage an item to change her from energy to fire...it obseletes crossbowmen for flyers and there are few enemies that you will barely hurt

One of the best tower defense games out there. Upgrading Protector to a game that has skill upgrades outside of levels...that was a phenomenal decision. I am one level away from beating the entire game, and I'm not sure I want to be done that soon... :)

I forgot to put this in the last comment, but please, please on the next game put a way of sorting your items in the store house. I waste so much time looking for the element switch items.

Consecreation helps the unit to beat enemies that have a strength against its element. Example: If you use consecration with a cold unit, it will do more damage to enemies with a strength against cold.
