Good game, but I need an explanation before I'm going to rate it a 4 or a 5: Is this game based on defender or the other way around? 'Based on' is an understatement here.

wave 30/40 in the easy Marathon is bad joke isn't it? How should it be possible to beat such an enemy with such an amount of regeneration? the only weakness is ice and I have no such a wizard...

Absorb + regen makes the game into trial and error instead of strategy. I just spent the last 2 hours playing a marathon and then was unable to defeat the last boss cause he kept absorbing and regening my lightning...
Obviously, I'll use different mages next time, but that's not so much strategy as trial and error.

nice game. altough the absorb theme i would enjoy a time controler so you can speed up it a bit because sometmes get pretty boring to wait them all die.

Great game, even If I must agree with grendels comments. And one more thing: In the old "Defender" the units changed there clothing as they leveled up, why is this not part of this game?

the game has become quite funny... a little bit unbalanced still, especially when one is attacked by hordes of enemies, nevertheless the game as become better and actually playable. The idea with the skills is fine. It would be nice to see on which rank the warrios are... to move unity would be nice and perhaps also how the enemies move at the beginning of a level. This would make it easier to use tactics.

the absorb function is not a game breaking feature. its a strategy game for a reason. try new tactics instead of whining, would be too easy if there werent some intentional stumbling blocks.

The absorb ability is really annoying because there is no way to prevent your mages of the matching type from attacking it. If there isn't going to be a sell function, there should be a way to stop your own mages from attacking, or at least have them stop automatically.

Markku: Of course they are going to continue to fire. You summoned them to destroy, that is exactly what they are doing. But I do agree that this is a pretty crappy thing, just takes a bit more thought to get around it.

This is insane! How come my highly-trained Master Mages keep firing when they must see that the creatures are absorbing the fire and gaining health??? This is a game-breaking issue.

It's a nice improvement in depth. However I encountered a bug in which I could not click on any of my dudes while playing one of the easy levels.

WAY better than Defender. You did a great job when you went to improve that somewhat crappy game. Where that was only worth 2 or 3 stars, this gets the full five from me.

Did you remove the custom map feature, or does it have to be unlocked? The map editor was one of the most exciting things about Defender.

You really disappointed me...I though it was going to be something different but when I started playing this it was just like Defender with alot of the UO creatures but poorly colored and redone and the map looks just the same like defender...And the name...Defender/Protector? I dunno man I was really upset.

Again, making tough enemies with absorb thats useful in 90% of the rest of the level is just cruel. Zero damage is fine, absorb is way over-powered. In a level where I have three types of towers powered up nicely and evenly distributed, and its absorbing from TWO KINDS, and auto-repeats, I'm totally dead. That's poor game design or sadism. Probably both. Having a 'don't attack this round' button would be fine. And 'oh look, you're dead because you picked the wrong towers for the very last enemy' is NOT tactics or strategy.

Btw, yes, it's a tower defense game. That's a genre now. Accept it and don't use it to rate the game down. "OH Fancy pants is great..but it's just another platformer." etc.

Not being able to sell units sucks. "It makes the game easy" is no excuse for not including it. I got to wave 40/40 at the end of a marathon run and I lost. Why? Because the boss has regen and absorbs lightning. Now, I only had like 4-5 Purple Wizards and up until then they'd been serving me well and were NOT, of course, "poorly placed".
And the only reason I was out of lives BEFORE the boss came is because some flying skulls came along that seemed to absorb EVERYTHING.
Absorb sucks. Not being able to sell units sucks.

I've spent about 40 minutes so far playing and I must say, this game is absolutely amazing and is a great game for anyone who enjoys strategy with a bit of role-playing elements thrown into the mix.
I also really enjoy the stats tracked. It all most makes you feel like you're wasting your time for a reason.
At the moment my best score is 16,421, my gold spent is 3,160, my maps won are three, my total kills are 1,140, my tiles paved are five, my levels gained are 73, and my men hired are 38.
Does anyone else wish to share their stats?

The absorb skill on the enemies is absolutely retarded. Having to play something over several times simply to know the order to deploy isn't exactly interesting strategy, just repetitive annoyance.

Great game, It seems like you could make the easy levels a tad bit harder. also, I found myself with lots of people ready to upgrade, but not enough cash, maybe you could make it so defenders need less money to upgrade and more experience

Insaniac: use the SPACE BAR /omg --- ypsksfgos: NO SELL there is a why it adds to the strategy and this isnt an easy game. Its in deep so the pedia is there for you to learn --- Jacen, you are stupid learn to build, read the pedia/tutorial.
