Nice game. Very MTG. Unfortunately the amount that is on the screen is too much for my eyes to take with the smallness of the screen. But I can see that the fullsize version is available, so I will no doubt continue exploring this game over there :) 5/5

@brian_james - yea, that was just one more game. The speed of this thing is glacial, and thats just one of the problems.

I'd say that this game is difficult, not in the normal sense, but it is very grindy at the start, making it difficult for beginners to test different strategies. I might be doing this wrong, but after 140 battles I still have trouble beating half of the level 2 opponents. The good things about the game are that there's no actual luck-based grinding in the form of opening different tiers of packs or anything like that, and that there's no excessive focus on PvP. There's no strict sequence of "leveling up", just a gradual feeling of improvement. The emphasis on luck, while being a core aspect of the game, is also a minor issue - there might have been some extra depth in the game if the player could build decks to test against specific typed enemies, and the full-health bonus mechanism sometimes conflicts with the player's main goal of winning.

This piece of shit had to be the last game of the week. There were 2 that reeked so I passed them over for this and now I can't even log in with my Kong ID that I've had for HOW many years?
Worthless. Also the reason I'm gonna have another non-shiny.
DIIIIIIIIIIIIIISGUSTING.

To all the people that may potentially stick with this game due to badge of the day: Yes, this game is luck heavy. A bit more than a real card game, as you cannot re-draw your hand for a sort of penalty like a real card game. It is also, until you get past a low-level grinding hurdle to have some room for deck building, slow paced and limited feeling. Obtaining more and better cards is faster the longer you play though. If you don't feel like sticking with it but do feel like messing about in the game, try going to http://elementsthegame.com/trainer.html

@daexion. Not attacking would only be a bad thing 95% of the time. The only time, and it would also kill cards like antimatter making them useless without even more mechanic changes. ----- @Balbanes: The game is fairly popular as far as flash games go. Pvp was broken for a while though, which resulted in most random people leaving. So they aren't there for pvp anymore. A lot of people also don't like the lag of pvp, so they don't play.

Overall, I don't like the game. I play creatures, but I cannot block. The board position dictates that attacking would be a horrible idea, but I have no choice but to attack regardless. Trying to build a deck with more than one resource type just feels like a really bad idea since every card only wants to use X of a single type unless the off-type is only for activated abilities or you only use low cost cards of the off-type. I don't even want to get into the issues of not getting any resource cards in the opening draw with no option of a mulligan: even decks with a balanced ratio can have bad draws.
The player should be allowed to decide if they are going to attack or not attack

@Balbanes: Maybe your deck is just bad. Starter decks are terrible.
I have never had a problem with the AI getting good draws.

@glitchiness You not liking stuff about the game doesn't make it a bad game. There are PLENTY of decks that interact with the opponent. A whole lot who are hampered by control decks, which FYI, are running rampant for the most part. As for music and sounds, yes, they could use work. However more cards and balance issues are a much higher priority. Upgrading doesn't have to be a choir if you don't want it to. Hell, you don't even need to upgrade cards. It is ENTIRELY unnecessary. Most events are unupped to boot. As for its comparison to other ccg. Most are either crap, or pay to win, or have even more grind then this. If you don't like the game, don't play it.

Furthermore, there's an inordinate amount of grinding to get the upgraded cards, and 90% of the upgraded cards are strictly better. On many occasions, upgraded cards are the difference between a mediocre deck and a very powerful one. Fortunately, a mediocre deck doesn't really matter, since the AI is piss-poor. There's a reason the higher-level AI had powers a human player doesn't, such as upgraded health or marks - they would be absolutely decimated otherwise! The card history does not always stick around long enough for new players to know what in God's name is happening. The sound effects are bland, and there is no music aside from the intro screen, making for an entirely dull experience. There are far better card games on the market, with many of them being just as free as this game. Please, play one of them instead.

This game is simply not good. Matches are completely mindless - each deck revolves around one strategy and mostly ignores the opponent, unless they need to destroy a permanent or something. There is an irritating amount of luck, far more than just card draws, and a bad roll could have dire consequences - for instance, the shield that can freeze attacking minions, and freeze lasts for AGES. With all your minions constantly on the attack, it's impossible to have any semblance of strategy in regards to, possibly, not attacking. Effects are unclear as to when they change - for instance, if some of my light-emitting minions were destroyed, Hope (the light shield) would sometimes change defense at the end of my turn, and sometimes at the start of my next turn, with me having no idea as to the rhyme or reason of it. Criticism is continued in my next comment.

@balbanes: Poison is not an element. Also, if you think only death is useful, then you seriously need to actually experiment. Every element has at least one good mono it can make, and several good duos. And lifes healing isn't as good as lights. The top 3 elements would be something like aether, fire, darkness. Assuming I had to label them. But there is no strict best.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Balbanes: While poison, death, and dark tend to stand out as far as mono decks are concerned in utility and ease of use, other elements do work too in a single element deck. I've been beaten several times, despite good draws for me, by them. I've been beaten even more by mixtures of all of them (and there's a lot of those, including rainbow).

If you do have complaints about AI level 3 and are just starting out, try a mono deck. Death or aether are solid options. Sell all your cards unrelated to the deck if you don't quite have enough. For death, fill it with poison, mummies, dragons, and pillars. For aether, fill it with dimension shields, dragons, some other aether creature, and pillars. 14-15 pillars, 6 of poison/shield, 9-10 creatures. You'll win roughly 9 out of 10 of your games versus AI 3 from what I remember.

Overall, I dislike the fact that my creatures don't attack my opponent's creatures. I'll have one really strong creature while a NPC just keeps stacking weak creatures and that I just have no way to get rid of.

@baltbanes, ai doesn't cheat, unless you happen to mean the double draw/higher hp/triple mark higher ai's have. You having bad draws all the time means your deck is unbalanced; try to tune it down to 30 cards if it isn't already. Not drawing any 0-cost cards often means that this probably isn't the case. ai3, fg (and arena) are the only ai's with an actual decent to good deck; ai4 solely is hard because of the higher stats. If you cannot defeat ai3 properly, you will have a hard time in pvp, as most players can make decks that defeat ai3.

@elitegardist: You can have everything in under a year actually. Also, you don't need to grind, only if you want to get places fast. You can easily just play pvp, events, and get money from the oracle and arena.
