Just a suggestion, but when something is selected on the left side, it would be nice if it was shown in some way (outline, glowing, etc). Also, though it might be beyond your scope, a paint bucket would be nice, to fill in lined in areas. Ah. One last thing: an outline of what you have replacing your cursor when you are over the canvas.
