I think I've figured out the rank stars. For Destroy and Secure, you need to finish the level as quickly as possible. For Defense, you need to FINISH with as close to full health as possible (this means it doesn't matter how much you lose if there are health packs on the field, so save them for the last few seconds). For Cut Power, Intel, and Rescue, you need to destroy everything (including buildings that all civilians have evacuated out of) before you finish the level. I hope this helps other players who are confused.

This is a really fun game. I do wish that the method to earn stars on each level was more clear, and that the 60-medal badge didn't take so long to earn. Despite those complaints, I still give this one 5/5 for being so much fun to play.

It would be nice to have an indicator on your aiming cursor that let you know that the shoulder weapon was ready. The combat is so intense that it is difficult to look back to the corner to check. Other than minor tweaks, this game is amazing. Great game play, nice medal system, strong mechanics, and nice storyline. *****

Can't get the hard badge because there's no way to know what to do to get the stars. Tried going super fast, tried killing everything, tried not taking damage.. still no stars. :(

What I cant figure out is how to get the game to send the info to Kongregate :S It seems the first level works occasionally for kills, but survival and everything else doesn't send to the acheiments/highscore list.

For more stars on the Secure and Defense missions kill as many as you can. For Rescue missions, you also need to kill all enemies, speed doesn't seem to matter. The "lose 500 lives in one level" is about HP, in Survival mode with the Repair Droid that's easily done. Killing a boss with a single strike is doable to the last boss on a stage, done easily with Nuclear/Orbital strike on the 1st lvl.To kill 25 infantry use any rail legs & run them over. To Complete a lvl with shoulder weapons remove front cannons. Having them equipped but not using them does not work. To kill 125 enemies with miniboss, use its weapons or run over stuff. Buildings count too. I did the "Boss run with light machine gun" using the Homing Cluster shoulder weapons as it has a lot of damage & short reload as it's helpful fighting off rockets and helicopters. To finish a level with less than 10 HP, attack the last boss until it's really low and get hit until you're under 10 HP, then kill boss fast. Hope this helps!

Best weapon combination: Big laser cannon + High caliber cannon. Annihilates everything without taking even 1 damage.

As much as I love the game, there DESPERATELY needs to be checkpoints. It really sucks having to do EVERYTHING all over.

It's rated by time, damage taken, buildings destroyed, and enemy units destroyed. It also registers the time it takes you to complete each Mini-Boss.

ALSO, the framerate and lag seemed to actually go away when I turned the quality up, which seemed to make performance towards the gold stars much much easier. Hope sharing my experiences here has been useful to someone.

so...anyone else like how the story says "one day we were attacked out of the blue. The next minute we're forming a resistance on a distant planet with me, a civilian farmer, as one of the top soldiers"

It seems some of the side missions give 3 stars if you kill all the enemies. This didn't work for all of them though.

Ok, the way the stars work in the side missions is how many enemies you kill, no moatter how long you take, or your HP levels.

Perhaps one of the better mecha games on this site... I love it. As for the minimap idea stated earlier, I had no problem following the compass right at the bottom of you're weapon bars. Any way... I loved it!

how do you get rank in side missions? I barely take any damage, slaughter everything, and still no stars? not even bronze? why?

Lol at the turret in Goliant III that is placed in a narrow path blocked by a wall that can't even attack you because its too far from the wall.

great game, very enjoyable! my only pet peeve is that when a game has "kill x number of y" or "collect x of z" or "die x times" medals / achievements, it should show your progress towards them. also, a minimap would be nice, or at least buttons more convenient to reach than O or P. those are just minor annoyances though, still gave the game a well-deserved 5/5.
