5/5 for me. when i can't sleep, this is my go-to game on Kong. i can part zone out, part be strategic and it's fun every time. i agree this is far more entertaining than the standard versions of golf. THANKS!!!

countless versions of this game exist and this is by far one of the best executed versions i've ever played. kudos to the author for top-notch work. clones of standard games are usually quite ho-hum but this is a really polished and quite beautiful version. nice work.

Oh FFS, not another moaning posting about Zilch that's not in the Zilch game comments area! Download a life already. This game is not "luck" based because there are only a limited number of pre-programmed set card groups - it is not random. If you play long enough, your scores get better because you subconsciously learned their order from previous plays. Zilch is not "luck" based either or rigged, it's purely random, and the people who moan it's rigged don't know the difference between luck and random-ness, and being human, tend to remember their failures more acutely then their victories.

Actually, I complained a fair amount about Zilch being rigged because as far as my testing showed (to me) at the time, it WAS rigged. While this game is luck based, it also has a fair amount of strategy to limit the variance of that luck (namely in the form of Jokers), and you're not playing against a CPU opponent.
That was the argument most people had against Zilch. You were pitted against direct opposition and then faced with two clearly different sets of "luck".
It's nowhere near as spirit breaking if you simply lose to luck in an unopposed test of skill.

Great game and addictive - but would be more so if hands were truly random and didn't repeat. I have seen patterns repeat EXACTLY on a number of occasions now. Until it's truly random, just 4/5 from me.

This is my favorite card game at Kongregate.com, and I can tell that a lot of thought went into creating this game. Thank you, Crystal Squid!

@kactus. I love your logic. I also think the same thing. People will like the game more if they win. It makes complete sense for a Developer to rig a game to win.

racefan12, you've got a good point there, I didn't think of that. Also yes, prev comment was in jest, as you can tell by me returning to play some more :P

the joker adds that subtle 'hey, why didn't someone think of this -before-?' element to a classic game. Nicely done :)

I'm almost positive your comment was in jest, but I'd just like to point out that the type of people who complain about Zilch being unfair are the type of people who would never play a game largely based on luck (like this one) unless it had badges.

It's funny, no-one is complaining on here that they drew the most ridiculous impossible hand ever and that it must be rigged. But look at the Zilch comments and you'd think it was from the comments even though the code has been posted for people to inspect. I conclude that this game is rigged in favour of the player because someone must have got the worst hand ever but no-one has complained yet.

Pretty good concept. It's much easier than solitare, which would make it more relaxing for casual players. There doesn't seem to be much reward for playing harder though. 4/5

The world most definitely did not need another computer solitaire game. Dear god no. However, if such a beast had to be made this is how to do it. Slick and smart. Reluctant but well earned four stars.

Nice implementation of a "clasic" ... addictive.
AUTHOR ... suggest you make the "reward" for playing harder levels greater (typically highscores are on easiest levels) ... eg bonus at end for rounds compleated: Easy 1k, Med 2k and hard 3k x no of rounds compleated. Also, higher rewards for long runs, esp on Hard (as you can't see what's comming!).
All levels need more reward for really fast play - eg, i'm always getting between 330 and 360, so not really much difference.
Perhaps give double score for card if same suit as previous? (encourages you to try and take suit runs etc)
Also, can we not capture more stats in the high scores etc (eg longest run, quickest game, highest single round score etc - you have the stats, just pass them thro to the kong highscore table etc.)
Anyway, I'd give it 4.1, so it's got 5 star for encouragement!
