Upgrading Software is too $$$ to give no other bonus. Specials would be cool(research):
Control Panel: +10%/20% dmg and 25%/50% range to all towers
Browser:+10/20% dmg to Spam/Spy/Adware/Trojans
Email Client: Lets you gamble 20% $ once/wave, with a 15/30% chance for 2x back next round!
Documents Folder: 10%/20% Interest per wave
Game Folder: New Game Tower: Shoots a missle (long range/homing/non-virus)that moves thru your maze to attack enemies (collides with your programs so has to path thru). 2nd upgrade: +missle speed.
Messenger: New Messenger tower. Doesn't shoot at threats, but rather shoots a "message" laser at another Messenger 2 to 4 spaces away, anything in the gap gets damaged. Second upgrade increases speed.
Media Player: +5/10 seconds on timer.
Registry: 20/40% discount on upgrades.
Recycling Bin: Returns +50%/75% of a towers cost (+ upgrades) when "trashing" them.

I think this game has a lot of potential, but it's too simple. Love the graphics. Some thoughts:
*Didn't like how the programs refund for their base cost no matter the upgrades. Once upgraded, I felt like I was being punished for replacing them with a different program .
*Some waves felt so pointless. $10 for a full wave?
*Towers need to upgrade more efficiently, maybe have ultimate versions fully upgraded?
*Intruders should take priority over other threats. One intruder left over from a level, can last forever because the waves kept coming and take the attention away from it (forcing you to keep a tower repaired). The game stopped being fun and eventually the next set of intruders arrived!
*REALLY need more money. Normal became impossible. I couldn't even build a proper maze before the threats became too powerful for my current towers to take down and it just became a constant stream of threats that wouldn't die (and therefore no money was coming in to upgrade).

I love this game. It is a nice change in scenery from the hordes of other TD's on this website. The AI of the "security risks" is unique... Not necessarily a bug. I personally like not having to funnel them down in the very beginning... It frees up more cash to focus on one or two tough towers. But that cash is definitely needed... This game is absolutely relentless in the amount of cash you get. Sometimes, there just isn't enough. I don't especially like that feature. The graphics are nice, very well done, but the edges should be taken off of the towers. I understand that they take up a square place on the grid, but the AI can pass through the edges of each tower, so those edges should be invisible to the player as well. The upgrade system is off... Either less money should have to be paid to get the upgrades that show up now, or more powerful upgrades should be presented... IMHO, it should be both. I really like this game, despite the tweaks, and I believe it should have badges.

This is obviously not an original base idea but putting it into a security system was a good idea and has been done quite well.
Needs more enemy types though.

basically if you can get to the point where you can line firewalls on the front line and upgrade, its sooo easy after that, just back them up with 2 or 3 anti-virus

I got excited when I read the description, but then I found myself playing another defense game. Cool idea for a game, but I’m not crazy about defense games. I did like how this one was sort of real-time, though. I just don’t like sitting and watching the little viruses wander towards the bottom of the screen, only indirectly being able to affect the play. Let me delete them directly, or try to hack the hacker, in addition to turrets! That would be fun!

if you can't beat the easy setting, then you shouldn't even be on the internet...
i mean it is so simple...
--------------------
Score 569991
threats killed 490
Software lost 6
Money spent 1620
Security tools built 109
----------------------------
not a single one got even close too the bottom...

Thank you to all for such useful comments. I slightly updated the balancing system, so bosses and viruses are not so hard now. Upgrades gives more damage rate as well.

hmm.. it's really unbalanced. I mean - there is no point in upgrading. Upgrading reduces the cost/benefit-rate badly.. It's +50% more dmg (calculated from the lvl 1 dmg!!!) and +100% hp - so after 1 upgrade it's cheaper to build another tower. Who cares about HP? Get some firewalls in the front and you are save from hijackers. Upgrade the software which the viruses aim at (it's always the same) and it's save from instantdeath and can be repaired.
I also killed all bosses except one - the virus. How? Well, the AI is stupid, it only recalculates its path when finding an obstacle on the old path, which mean you can send them back and forth.

I like the idea - it's an evolutionary step from DTD rather than a copy, and the theme is cute. Its failing is that the mob HP/cash/tower power/tower upgrade balance is basically broken. Most TD games use some degree of exponential scaling of all or most of those. This one seems almost purely linear, and while that may be deliberate to encourage a different strategy, it puts the player at a disadvantage.

I don't see this game as a DTD copy, nothing like that. They use almost the same "background", but this is way more refined. Loved this game. *5/5*.
Anyway, I think that the softwares at the bottom of the screen should be more useful. Dunno how, but it would be funnier than just being you "lives".
And something else: The bosses have too much HP. Even in Easy mode, you need to juggle them for killing.
