The overheating isn't that annoying, but there should be an upgrade to reduce it somewhat. I'm more annoyed by the fact that the levels/bosses don't give you huge amounts of crystals - so if you want to upgrade your ship you have to replay the old minefield level a bunch. That is not fun.
Too many upgrades are a mixed bag - like firing off a bunch of missiles at once without increasing your capacity. Why would you even bother getting the final launcher upgrade? So you can run out of ammo twice as fast? No thanks.
It is a fun game, but it seriously needed to be beta tested by some experienced gamers. It would've had a much higher rating and made more money if you'd done that.

Great game - very well polished. With the cutscenes, art, and English (Usually for a game of this quality, I'd expect Japanese origin and poor grammar.), but especially with the level replay value, which keeps the plot consistent. I don't mind the clicking - it's really not that much of a bother. However, upgrades should include weapon cooling and a "magnet" for the crystals. Also, I find myself accidentally pressing "z" a lot, and thus screwing myself over for the rest of the mission. As a side note, that laser level is too damn hard. And when I have to retry it time and time again, I'd prefer not having to bear with the dialogue.

You need hover jets on to hover in space?? Well thats news to me, jets shouldn't be on all the time, should only show when pressing a directional key. because there is no air resistance in space... or gravity.

Sector 3 boss fight, the dialogue with stavros should be skippable. The mission is really hard, and having to wait for that over and over is too damn annoying :\

There's shooters where you can be hit tons of times, and ones where you die after one hit. Pick one and stick to it. Also, if you go with the second option, you need more than a fraction of a second warning for lasers. They can't just appear at the top of the screen and kill you instantly. And don't use unskippable cutscenes if there's a chance you'll have to replay the level, or that you might not care about the story. Basically, never use them.

After mixed feelings on first impression, this game turned up to be good. Nice graphics, decent sound, light story. Speaking of story, using small font with ALL CAPS is not the best way to narrate, especially during the combat.
Also, devs, fix the bug with losing focus on the mission start (player has to click on game after mission starts, otherwise controls do not respond), add way to skip in-mission chatter and write the alternate keys (I, O, P) in the instructions field.

Let us skip the big long conversation for Boss #3... I'm tired of sitting through it, and wrote this comment while waiting for it the third time. :-)

Overheating weapons in a schmup is a terrible idea. Especially one that's of the "spam the screen with enemies" variety. Especially terrible because you have no alternative weapons. So 90% of the screen is filled with swarming enemies and you can't shoot for 5 seconds. Seriously - terrible, terrible idea.
Otherwise, good.

Correction: it isn't one-shotting, but still does heavy damage for something that you can miss seeing among the harmless background asteroids.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The asteroid field levels have the problem that there're background asteroids that won't do anything to you and foreground ones that'll hurt you if you hit them, and it's not always the easiest thing telling them apart. Not only that, the larger ones can apparently one-shot you. So it's possible to die suddenly in those levels.

Moving DOWN and RIGHT at the same time doesn't work. Moving diagonally in any other direction does work however. Please fix this. Also, seconding what omnivar said about adding a coolant upgrade. It's definitely needed, not sure why he was voted down for that...

Nice game but there are parts of the world such as whole Europe that don't use QWERTY keyboard. On German QWERTZ and French AZERTY Z is not near X and C.

um, is the special attack supposed to knock out your shields for the rest of the mission? cause that makes it pretty worthless

Why, oh why, when I have the ultimate fighter, does my gorram fighter feel like I'm shooting spitballs out of a craft made of wet cardboard?

I really enjoyed this game. It was well-designed, although a few wrinkles exist. I think the series has good promise. Even the story is noteworthy (albeit a little cliche).

enemy shields are nearly invincible, enemy ships can phase through asteroids you can't. these are 2 game mechanics that detract heavily from game play. 3/5 overall

Do something about the movement controls rejecting my authority and this is a keeper. Also, I would sugest the missile button to be v instead of x.

Don't give in to whining about overheating - this is what makes this game different, and overall good. Still, needs sound control.

Good game but you need to put in a coolant upgrade or something, by the time I had level 4 or 5 blasters (about the third level) I was spending so much time on cooldown that I couldn't actually fire enough shots to kill the enemy with any reliability.

Do the first level 2-3 times since it gives way more $$$ than the next few levels. That will get the ship in decent fighting shape and then you can go dominate.

i cannot remember when ive enjoy so much a game of this type. very good graphics, story, gameplay and the upgrade system its relly well done. in my personal opinion the special attack is not necesary and let you totally unprotected with a minimun benefit, but its as i see that only. I hope see the sequel soon!!! thanks and congrats!!!

I sided with the girl. I "refused my final mission" by quitting the game. Not cool throwing her under the bus like that, I liked her. And I wanted to punch Quaid in his ugly face. Not cool taking her out and making me work for him, I refused to do it. I won't be finishing this game now, and I look forward to the idea of Quaid getting blown to hell without me.

Also, coolant upgrades are pretty damn pointless if you have to wait too long before the next wave of enemies... It would be better with a timer to see how long a powerup remains, and how long your buffs remains..

Pretty fun except for two things: the text sound is fairly annoying, and the dialog; some times you just don't want to click 10x through a screen. So: 1) Way to mute the dialog sound fx' and/or 2) 'Turn off RP mode (no dialog at all)'.
