Pro tips:splash damage can never kill a monster,it has to be directly targetted, take this into consideration when creating your builds.pair upsplash with a fast hitter like an archer.press+button so that a newbie can become a pro

1-5....immune to my only buffed damage type and wasted 38 waves to get knocked down 38 lives from one wave cause they were immune...lame.

This game is seven years old, just be grateful the game is on here.. The graphics are good compared to the others (mage attacks) and the projected stats was a nice feature which was lost among the following games..

Go to this site for a walkthrough on how to beat all 23 levels http://www.online-game-walkthrough.com/2008/02/protector-walkthrough.html . It's specific to the point of placement, what to spend points on and how to upgrade. It even focuses on keeping people at certain levels instead of just going to max. Thanks to it, i've already beaten 14 maps.

Don't think of it taking forever, think of it as having a lot of time to place your defenses during waves. A LOT of time.

The thing I miss most from the newer versions isn't the speed up button, it's the wave bar. Not knowing what's coming next can make some maps take 3 or more attempts to come up with a winning strategy, because something comes along that absorbs all your damage.

I'm not going to type a lecture like everyone else but I really find it highly important to be able to speed up a wave otherwise its a shitty game in my opinion. I hope they make a new one.

thanks for putting the ghosts that absorb energy elemented attacks you asshole, i was 3 waves away from beating a 40 WAVE MAP, and i died cause of those fuking things... FUK YOU !!!

They really shouldn't have given badges to this game. It's too long, too hard, and too tedious. I'm a big fan of the other entries in the series though.

I you find the gameplay a bit slow , try scrolling down the page (or changing to a different tab) , so that the game window won't be visible. Not having to render hero-monster "interactions" can speed up the game (at least for me).

I hate these recent comments that say "add a FF button" and crap. He has several newer games out to maintain. If you want to play a more current, up-to-date Protector, play 4.5. Coming to his first tower defense game and complaining isn't going to get you anywhere.

Love the sequel protector games. But can't be bothered spending 25 hours to get the hard badge for this one :pI'll take easy badge and run. Don't even want to think about how long medium will take.

When the "Best of 2008" medal came out, I had already gotten all the badges for it except this one. I still haven't done it, been putting it off forever because it took me an hour to beat the third stage of the game. :|

And after so many years, there is STILL no fast forward button? You - the developer - must have heard by now of the game's lag and very slow play. Time to add the ff button yet?

On another note. I would also like to register my immense disappointment with the removal of wave preview feature. I haven't played this game in a couple of years, and came back to get the hard badge (couldn't beat last wave, I remember, last time). I do not understand why it was removed. A HUGE part of my strategy involves knowing what str/weaknesses each wave possesses so a proper defense can be laid out. As it stands now, you are left in the dark. If your def is insufficient and you lose, you gotta remember the wave order from last time...come on, this is a very annoying bad "update."

@joannawww, Your question IS answered in the pedia, though not very clearly - "Only one of each type may be active at once." I take from this that yes, you can have multiple effects but each effect cannot be stacked (like being hit by 2 poisons - only the first poison hit will place it until it's worn off and the unit is hit after that with a new poison).

What an awfully slow and lagging game, pretty disappoining after playing the second in the series. I realise that this may have been acceptable three or four years ago, but it is quite frankly unplayable like this. Only 2/5 from me.

I like this game a lot! Can't find an answer in the pedia though - do special effects (poison, slow) stack or only one is active at the moment??? I know that two of the same kind cannot act simultaneously but how about different ones? Thanks and keep making good games!

This is one of my most favorite games. I've been playing since 2008 and continue to play it at least 4 times a week. It never gets old for me. As a novice game designer I would love to talk shop on how it was built or see under the hood or just discuss growth formulas for leveling and enemy creation :P

Even though you press mute SFX it will still make an irritating clink noise every time you go over an upgrade or the sound menu.

Step 1: Start wave. Step 2: Go do something else for 3 minutes. Step 3: When the 'sounds of battle' have stopped, upgrade. Step 4: Start next round. Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 until you win.
