Well, I always valued Spiral Knights because it was a game where you didnt need to spend real money to get ALL the content. If I understood that right, the newest patch ended this advantage over probably all other games. Those who do not spend real money wont be able to get special items from Expansion Missions.
If that is so, its a real shame, SK was unique. Now it will slide down among all other "F2P" MMORPGs.
Is the invisibility of projectiles part of the games difficulty (meaning its intentional)? Because it is quite frustrating, you get hit all the time without ever noticing what hit you. Enemy projectiles should be either a different color. Or at least a white border (that wouldnt conflict with the visual art style). Black projectiles with black tree or black explosion in the background simple cannot be seen.
Some elaboration would be awesome.:) Upgrade damage output of the dinos (it takes way too long for them to break down large meteors), more upgrades, more dinosaurs (both the count that you can have on the field and types)... I believe you could easily get over 4* rating if you elaborate it a bit more. Maybe even 4.1.
@cankat917 Sure, it wouldnt work just because you said so.;) But I didnt expect many reasonable answers, most people that play games dont have even the slightest idea about how they work. Its multiplayer = cannot work.:)
@MaTTyTL: Not necessarily. Stacraft, for instance, is a multiplayer game too and its possible to pause it. True, the game concept is completely different, but I can imagine pause function to work in Spiral Knights too. Since you can only have 4 people in a party, it shouldnt be too much of a problem to come to an agreement about pausing the game. Its not like pausing a depth instance you are currently running would cause any disturbance to the world outside of the instance.
The upgrading should never stop. When you run out of upgrades, the game starts to feel like you hit the limit and there is no point in playing anymore. If there was a way to always improve your defenses, the game would last much longer.
But I spent enough time playing it to give it 5/5. :)
The game has some bugs and I had a hard time deciding whether to give it 5/5 or 4/5. In the end I decided for 5/5, just because I had fun all the way to the end - and thats what matters most. But dear developers, test your games a bit better. :) There are some elementary bugs that anyone experienced shouldnt miss. But other than that - more games like this, please. ;)
@TopMaster360 Linux doesnt support Flash or Java? Interesting... If you are using linux, switch back to Windows because in my opinion you lack the knowledge required to run linux. If you didnt, you would know that Java is so favorite because the same code can run on pretty much any device, assuming Java Virtual Machine (JVM) exists for that device. And I will bet whatever you want that JVM for linux does exist.
What the hell... It totally blew my mind, but I have never played this kind of a game before (means it is very original for me) and it has been done masterfully. I am not a fan of exaggerating, but this game truly deserves much more than 5/5. Amazing work.
@trollbuster1 I guess we all want that, there are people leaving just because lack of new content. And I cant say I blame them, this game seriously needs some heavy content updates.
