I appreciate the attempted advice, but the 'Out of bounds' happens even when I start the game up as the first and only window, and don't touch a single button. Specifically, it happens as soon as I loot an item; I don't know if I chalk this down to the item itself, the fact I only have four prior which means the town then unlocks again, or both.

Developer response from localhero

I'm seeing significantly better initial load performance in the update I've just posted. This may help your issue as well. No guarantees, but it may be worth another try. Again, sorry that this is happening. I'll keep working at it.

Day 3: 'Out of Bounds' error still occurring. I've discovered no way around it. Developer still hasn't taken notice. I'm disappointed that I may never get a chance to play this fun game again, short of a hard reset.

Developer response from localhero

This most likely indicates that the not enough memory was allocated by the browser when loading. This is often an issue if you are multitasking and/or are using a 32 bit browser. It may help to load the game and not make any inputs for thirty seconds. I will continue to optimize the performance to try to alleviate these issues as much as possible but there's no quick fix that I know of.

I would give advice by saying to look at how TerraTech does its AI and camera controls to improve how your own game functions, but then I realized that you already took quite a few pointers from TerraTech already...like the models for the GSO Rock Drills, the Venture Hailfire Rifles, the batteries, so on. Yikes, talk about copyright infringement. Well, I would talk like that, if this probably wasn't a cheap mobile game done overseas where copyright law is but a suggestion.

So my curiosity in walking towards the same space the monsters spawned in that one chest area lead me to falling off the map. Great game, 11/5, don't play it.

The sell value on the red gems turns into a negative integer VERY quickly. I didn't notice until I was somehow giving the heavy armorer gems at -100 coins per every 5.

Developer response from RubbleGames

That's the artisans way of telling you they don't need anymore, but I agree it shouldn't go negative. I'll look into making sure it's always at least 1 for the next update. Sorry about that and thanks for letting me know. UPDATE: I've set a minimum price of 1 per material, it shouldn't cause any problems with existing saves but please let me know if it does.

I noticed that the diamond gain from tapping at the rocks was quietly reduced from 10 to a whopping 2.

Developer response from Tetronomics

Heya JaredSkye001, thanks for noting this - we didn't realize we forgot it in the patch notes! We reduced the diamonds spawning from rocks, as the 10 diamonds was actually a bug. But we are still open to tweaking this value. We needed to address it in our morning patch as the 10 diamonds was breaking our intended game-play curve.

Same as everyone else: after a reset, tier 5 tanks the whole game. What's worse is that I never got a chance to save yet! And this happened on Firefox, so add that to the list of browsers your game has problems on.

Setting a spawn priority for trees to appear on tiles that aren't already player or bot-occupied would take a lot of unnecessary frustration away; I can't count the amount of times trees have spawned on top of me, and I've had to wait at least a minute for the game to process this before I can do anything.

I once had a rather biting review of this game from years back, criticizing the quality and Kongregate's willingness to partner with a notoriously-deceptive publisher to create yet another golden goose hunt to stir up relevance for the site. But, the most obvious happened, and Kongregate staff took down the review, despite what I can safely say was a far more neutral tone than the one I'm taking now.

I think it's safe to say that this got abandoned out of the starting gate. It wouldn't surprise me if this was just ProficientCity's attempt to play the one-armed bandit and make off with as much money as they could in the first month of release; they probably need it to survive being nuked by 7Road.

Played game on a public window, I have web cookies enabled, unlimited data storage. Should be saving, isn't. Got to stage 4 having beaten 14 challenges.

Developer response from MadSheepGaming

I'm really sorry about that. I'm not sure what's going on, but it seems like you're not the only one having issues with saving.

What I can say about this game is that its apparent mechanical complexity with lack of thorough explanation is far from its most egregious problem: This game is horribly optimized! It takes significant CPU to even load the character randomizer, let alone to even get into the game proper.

After a few months of play, and a few significant game updates, I can safely say that yeah, Dead Maze is certainly worth your time. The limited inventory management can be frustrating, but invocative of the feeling of having to work with scarce resources, because, you know...survival game. And the community is astoundingly helpful, the kind of thing I haven't seen on such a wide scale since Warframe. It's a refreshing experience, even if it can feel like a grind at times. The story gameplay only goes up to the end of the second act right now (which side-note, all the NPCs start treating you like they've never seen you before, which is mega-creepy), but more is on the way soon. Either way, it's definitely a fun, hectic, and deep MMO that doesn't pressure you into buying in, a feat I'd say is leagues above anything that junk like Wartune is concerned.

"Just a fix here and there?" Like making save files actually work? Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty big detail to fix. Then again, that's practically this dev's holding pattern; you'd think after the 3rd or 14th time, he'd figure out the whole 'Make the game remember basic functions' conundrum.

It gets worse when you realize that Kongregate has had next to no problems with wanting to partner with ProficientCity in the past. Does anyone remember Legend Knight? PLEASE TELL ME SOMEBODY REMEMBERS LEGEND KNIGHT.

Developer response from ProficientCity

Dear JaredSkye001, glad to hear from you, yes, the LEGEND KNIGHT in R2 servers were closed, but please don't worry, we would not let that happen again in the Wartune, we also would take the further actions and compensate our players if the accident comes.

Coming from, astoundingly, one of the minds behind Transformice, Dead Maze is a fun but admittedly buggy - I bought a Sickle that bugged out, never broke, and gave me infinite kicks - survival MMO that actually does a pretty darn good job at what it sets out to do. I haven't gotten far into the story aspects yet, but coming from the perspective of a writer, I think it's a pretty solid read if you're into that, aside from the few eskew points of Engrish that pops up here or there. As someone who played Transformice A LOT when I was younger, the devs behind it have a knack for making a game that feels fun and fair to play even if you don't buy into it. So I have high hopes for Dead Maze, and I really do hope there's a good future in store for it.

And none of my prior rant even goes into the incredibly poor customer support going into this: is it just me, or does PC understand how much they might have boned themselves on this? Because I can't think of any better explanation for why they've seemed to completely and suddenly abandon communicating with their customers. They've been scummy in the past, but never outright scavens as to go radio-silent. Especially considering their "VIP" subscriptions, the three letters grinded into meaninglessness by these freemium shovelware titles, automatically re-opts whether you tell it to or not (at least according to player feedback as of this point. Might make a forum thread to ask about it.) So we have a situation where the developers may have possibly abandoned their title before it even released out of beta, and has left dozens of consumers stuck on a payment plan with no internal help to cancel it or any information how to. That seems painfully convenient...

A lovely example of how deep the free-to-play Asian MMO market dips of late: they're ripping off of EACH OTHER now, which is frankly as impressive as it gets. As for a review? I'd really just be repeating myself; it's Wartune as everybody remembers it, being pretty, but lacking in substance. The town-building aspect is, as always, a cheap way to gate your power scale to enforce the pay-for-power mentality that the system was always based off of in order to even stand a chance climbing the PvP rankings. The only real interesting part about this game is the name itself: Wartune wasn't the first, but it was certainly the most affluent of the 'Freemium' MMO market that brought it to such mainstream here in the West. And seeing how Road-Squared has been comfortable with ripping off successful western developers in both art assets and story concepts, as well as THEMSELVES from time to time, I'm just waiting for the (hopefully) inevitable bombshell between them and Proficient City about this.
