The game is easy but I don't feel motivated to finish it. This is a bad sign.
Some problems that I see: that difficulty doesn't scale to the number of characters you have, the uncontrollable attacks of weapons are annoying as heck and every battle is very similar, just with slightly different enemies.
I commend trying to innovate for the sequel but it didn't really work here. I don't know why but I really don't like the separate boss fights and the grid exploration, which should have made it less linear, actually made it more linear by giving us our next co-ordinates immediately. It would have been better if we'd gotten a clue (or even nothing) as to the next location.
The correct orientation of dexterity and intelligence is the one in mini tabs. So the students that you want to be mages are the ones whose full profiles say they have good dex (and scouts-int).
One suggestions for what is mostly an amazing game: include a means to switch between characters in the sp menu so we don't have to go back and forth all the time.
I like that you can now build a character to your tastes but the skills tree and its usage is daunting. That's bad for a series that's previously thrived on simplicty.
The dungeon design is good but (as with most of your strategy games) I feel that the information given in combat needs work. Important exmaples: we can't see who acts next and whose on what side (this is particularly relevent if you beat the ratmen boss).
The intro movie playing every time we load the game is really annoying. You could maybe play it only when starting a new game or give a button to play it in the title screen.
Some good innovations from the previous, the enemy structures in particular. OTOH the dropped items get cluttered quite frequently and I miss the different speed settings.
Also the difficulty curve felt far too sinusoidal (not an appropriate word but I felt like using it, I mean that the later levels seemed sometimes easier than the ones before for no real reason).
The cover system gives a new take on the genre and the upgrade system works well but there are some things that bug me:
1) The slow bullets and gradual damage after being shot make the damage you've taken, and that you need to deal, hard to judge.
2) This might just be me but the play button was where I felt that the buy button should have been (this caused some problems).
The good: the mechanics make the shapes you're looking for totally different to normal match 3 games and the diversity of candies in varying colours makes it less repetitive.
The bad: Sorely needs an ingame tutorial as it's not reasonable for us to assume that the description tab has more instructions than the instructions tab.
Thanks for the feedback! and thanks for starting the game that many times :D (by the way you can skip it by clicking on the screen) :D
