I absolutely love tactical RPGs and this is a GREAT one! Loved all the landscape interactions, there's nothing as fun as throwing a roasted pig in a guard's face, or to kick a monk down a set of stairs.
The Gun is definitely bugged. For some reason the damage it does is always reverted by 3~4 points. I don't know if anyone managed to clear the "Megashot" mission - personally I can't kill the dummy with a gun, since its damage always goes up 6850 then reverts to 6847 or so.
Faction system is broken due to the fact you can't have a positive "relationship" balance; Party members AI is horrendous; Game breaking bugs such as total loss of gear after a save, immortal final boss; Gameplay worse than its previous installments due to the loss of free shooting... What else is there to say?
Ah, damn, messed up my upgrades... Let me just reset the upgrades- OH WAIT THERE'S NO WAY TO DO THAT. Well then, I'll just reset my whole game after all- OH WAIT THERE'S NO WAY TO DO THAT EITHER
There are many narrative qualities to this game, but the one that stands out the most to me was how the statue face-planted every time it jumped down a cliff.
For 3 diamond stars: Build archer camp, 3 watchtowers, 2 totem of acc. Upgrade the WT until they're Bastion of Venom (don't put points in poison & corrosive) Build a 4th WT, upgrade it the same. Build an Energy Well, 1 Puddle of the Beast, 1 totem of energy. Upgrade the PoB into an Abyss of Manipulation, get one point of mind switch. Summon zombies whenever your mana is full. Get another PoB, same upgrades, then another Totem of energy. At this point just buy whichever is chapest, TWs or PoBs, repeat until the level ends. Works for all levels.
Fire units are just so overpowered... Just stick a good tank in your front line and they can decimate and entire group of units in a matter of seconds.
I think it's quite ridiculous that there's 17 different types of upgraded towers, but most of them are utterly worthless and you actually just need 3 or 4 to waltz through the levels. It really is just artificial dificulty at its finest.
Maybe I was naive and idiotic, but despite the whole "energy" business I still liked the game an enjoyed playing it a lot. Now that it's completely broken for reasons beyond our understanding and that I've lost my login streak due to the very same problems - yeah, my opinion definitely changed for the worse.
Beardshaker, I absolutely love the art you use in all your games! Add to this some very interesting puzzles that, despite the whole childish look of the game, were fairly challenging and I just fell in love with the game! And props to the high quality sound production too.
Three games and it's exactly the same game engine, the same mechanics, the same planes, the same weapons, the same enemies, the same graphic assets, the same musics, the same sounds, the same menus, etc. I really don't know why this game series deserved yet another badge.
Bonus and coin collection uses the same hitbox as the damage detection does - That's not how it should work if you want to make a good shooter. Enemies also have incredibly small hitboxes.
