The intro is good, but the idea of a youtube video inside the game is awfull for several reasons: 1. Can't adjust the quality. 2. Can't rewind. 3. Can't pause. 4. Can't replay. Please make the intro a part of the game.
The journey is the worst part of this game. It has taken me 45 minutes to complete. It's really hard to ride that horse and especially on low graphics mode.
Here's some math on level 20 hard: 105 enemies presented in 120 seconds. Each enemy has about 50,000 health. A fully upgraded Meteor Gatling does 9K DPS. Two damage amplifiers add 50% damage. Say the powerups equal one damage amplifier and the dmg waste on a level is 10%. The used ship has 3 slots. The DPS throughout a whole level is: 44550. The dmg done is: ~5,346M. The health is ~5,250M. The required accuracy = ~98%.
It will be nice if the addons could be upgraded. That would also make the last level easier. The final upgrade for a damage amplifier should be atleast +50%.
Sadly the game is unplayable without a mouse.. I am getting really confused of the buttons. There is no visual clue that says: You can't click on the credits button to go to the creators' webpage.
What about your graphics? I think a simple gotoandstop(); bracket would work... Okaaay.. I really like your music, but I think you should just let it play on the mainscreen too. Unfortunately your game loose some playability because of the missing instructions in the game and the awkward ending. Your buttons are just brilliant, because they really afford pushing. And that border.. and those planets when you roll over.. just keep it up. Design all your buttons that way.
When this submit score dialog pop up, I think the game should pause. I like, how you handled that event, so that no more than one dialog will appear at once. "How to make a pause function?", you might ask. Have a global boolean variable, which you pass to those functions. You can then in your enemies class acces it. (Of course the enemies inherits from your main class.. and NOT the timeline!) In your move function for the enemies: if(boolean != true) return; This makes the game pause!
Nice try on an ActionScript 3.0 game. I really like that cool effect, when you die. I think, that you should make it last for about 1-2 seconds more. The description says, that many things changed through the game.. including the sounds. When I play the game, there is no sounds playing at anytime. You might want to test that. About the text.. there is so many other comments about that, that I won't really comment it. Of course it's pulling my rating down, and so does the unreadable HOWZ PLAY page.
Amazing game. 5/5. It really gives a different view on the life. 3 things to improve on: 1. A save option. It is frustrating to start all over again, just after returning to the menu. 2. Nothing happens, when you click 'submit score' at the end. It would be nice to have a highscore display on the main screen. 3. If a memory spawns to high on the screen, it displays strangely.
Thanks for the comment as well as the suggestion. "best Shootorial" might be an overstatement but that still means alot to me on a site like kongregate. I just want to say, I spent some time tonight implementing a pause menu feature and almost completed it, but due to working from an external I managed to detach from it at the wrong time and delete the entire .fla file from anywhere on my laptop or external...So I won't be updating this game at all in the foreseeable future, but I will keep pause menus and other options in mind for future developments.
What? You uploaded a game with a fatal run-time error, you knew about! Here is some hints on how to fix the bug: 1. Figure out when the bug will appear. Keep a track of how many enemies there is on the screen, all the time. The last output you will get, just before the program crashes, is a usefull clue on when the bug will appear. Now find the bug's simplest form. 2. Go on and debug your code. Use binary search, even if it seems stupid. Remember; you don't understand your program. 3. Try to explain what your program does to someone else. It might help to get a new look on the problem. 4. Keep a record of what you have tried, so you won't try the same fix twice. Unfortunately comments have limited lengths. I hope these hints helped you.
I don't think you should upload games, you are not serious about. Why is there a white box at the end? Can you figure out how to put a link on the textfield 'TheFallen5555', so that when the user clicks the text, the user's browser will navigate to http://www.kongregate.com/accounts/TheFallen5555?
Works now.
