Grind and upgrade to win. No strategy, skill, or tactics required... this is basically an idle game with an annoying need to reposition the mouse constantly. Cool artwork - a polished turd, but a turd nonetheless. 3/5, and that's being generous to such a lackluster effort.
Mediocre gameplay, but a highly polished effort nonetheless. No major innovations over the first installment means that this sequel is just more of the same - upgrade to win, no skill/tactics/strategy required. It's a 3/5 title... cut down on the grinding and it might earn another star, but don't feel bad as this is a shortcoming common to a lot of upgrades games.
Dunno why everyone is rating this so highly. Must be a bunch of rednecks on Kongregate lately... though that _would_ explain all the idle game popularity too I suppose. This is basically a slow-motion, upside-down "Missile Command" clone but without any loss conditions. Dripping with the least amount of effort possible, this slapdash of clipart and aggravating keyboard synth music proves that poop from 1998 which has been going stale for 16 years can still be a hit on the internet. 1/5.
Yet another "circle strafe and shoot a group of enemies with different guns" simulator. Nothing innovative or groundbreaking... there's not even any obstacles. Your guy is just running around a rectangular area with no walls or cover, which is a very poor survival strategy IMO. They must only send the stupid ones to fight off the bugs. This could be a good start to a better game, but as is it's yet another unremarkable 2/5.
Fantastic game. Visually stunning, mechanically balanced, and best of all the developer actually updates it! Easily a 5/5 effort as it was originally uploaded - I want to give it 10/5 now with the adjustments that have been made. Gameplay gets a bit repetitive once upgrades are maxed - I think the game was better with fewer talent points. I'd suggest some kind of randomized modifier to alleviate tedium. Perhaps customizable wingmen? Randomly generated equipment? Enemy modifiers per wave (like 10% resistance to a spell school or arrows)? I'd love a sequel with more strategic/tactical depth.
This game has decent graphics and some nice features (like dropped powerups persisting after you leave a room) but don't be fooled - it's a lazy effort with tedious gameplay. The second boss' bullets CANNOT BE DODGED. Ranged enemies are frequently placed in inaccessible corners. Enemies spawn right on top of you at times. Really, it's only difficult because of the ridiculous amount of cheap shots. Upgrades don't fundamentally affect gameplay or tactics, and for hundreds of rooms you'll be using the same strategy of circling a group of enemies while shooting them. This is a grindfest which tries to offset the boredom of repetition with a fast pace. 2/5.
Ummm... The current high scores for survival mode are in the 500-700 range. I'm at 2000+ points and am having no problems being overwhelmed. Did I break the game? Does survival actually get HARDER at any point? As is I can continue this pattern perpetually.
It's great for what it is, but "semi-idle" games are just as pointless as idle games while managing to be marginally more annoying. Maybe be able to alter equipment loadouts between levels to emphasize certain stats? Perhaps selectable skills that you could set to fire under certain conditions (such as damage spells which would affect enemies spotted with over X amount of HP, or healing spells which would fire when you dropped to X amount of HP, etc.)? You could then have stages that cater to specific stat and ability combinations which would invite players to actually PLAY a game rather than just hold a button and click a few times in between. Also an "auto grind mode" where it would automatically replay a certain level without input would be a heck of a lot better than the current psuedo-interactive grinding. A 5/5 game in a 2/5 genre.
Waaaaaaaaaay too many suicidal enemies really brings this down. Firstly, if these people are just going to blow themselves up on my convoy why do they shoot at me first and give a chance to foil their mission? Secondly, WOO! SO FUN to have 15 enemies decide all at once to suicide on me and give me NO CHANCE OF SURVIVAL! 3/5, but moreso for being poorly balanced overall.
Good lord, it's not even a game at this point. The unlocking isn't anywhere near epic. Why title it as such? Why even upload it? This deserves a 1/5 right now (12.12.2013) but I'm not voting yet in hopes that this "tech demo" actually turns into something. Between stuff like this, the TONS of idle games, and just the lack of effort/terribleness of the general stuff hosted on Kongregate in the last few weeks I'm starting to wonder why I come here rather than some site which actually SCREENS what's uploaded.
This game is a low effort version of "Plants vs. Zombies." While that is to be expected with the ripoff title (and even the font I think), the mediocrity doesn't end there. The upgrade system and tactical aspects are merely extra clicking, the game is designed to force the player to sacrifice units, and many of the graphics are poorly rasterized. Everything about this title is unremarkable except for how ridiculously derivative and half-hearted it is. Why be innovative and make something FUN when you can just slap-dash crap like this together and hope that peoples' expectations are low enough to think it passable? 2/5.
Yay, this same exact game posted by a different person! Now I can get back to not playing this poorly-planned POS where the player has the option of either zerg-rushing-to-win, stalemate, or outright loss! Yep, you read that right - essentially all the high-tier researches and units exist only only to trap unwitting players into trying to play strategically and thus losing. Since someone besides the developer uploaded it this time (he deleted due to low score last time) there's NO HOPE of the balancing or the various bugs being fixed - for those of you still gullible enough to play this, be aware that closing the game causes you to lose ALL MONEY. Voted 3/5 last time in hopes this game would be fixed. Giving it 2/5 this time.
I love "breakout" games. Despite this being a mind-numbingly slow take on the genre, being riddled with bugs, and with a shallow upgrade system which applies only to virtually useless "bonuses," I slogged through the boredom to finish the first 8 levels. On level 9 my character bugged out and got stuck at the top of the screen while the balls eventually bounced away until I died. I thanked the gaming gods that I had a reason to stop playing. Rename this game "Medieval Gimmick Tedium: Broken Edition" and I would give it five stars simply due to how ridiculously accurate that title would be. As is, the very few interesting innovations are so utterly ruined by how they're implemented and the gameplay itself that I wish Kongregate had a NEGATIVE star system. I would literally consider taking a poop to be more fun than this and could probably create something more people would enjoy in the process. 1/5.
This game was epic. I managed to play through ENTIRELY, stealing literally every item from literally every enemy and didn't die a single time. Yet I could never pump my equipment to max due to lacking certain items - I thought the developer messed up. Now, after finishing, I find I get to do it ALL OVER AGAIN just to pick up the rest of the stuff I never got. Ugh... after putting roughly 20 hours into this game already? No thanks. This attempt at shoehorning in replayability and making me realize I wasted my effort the first time through brought my vote down from 5/5 to 4/5.
That was meant to be Chaplin... >.<'
