Really rather boring, bland, unoriginal and just plain dull. I've had to suffer through bad games when new graphical technology was introduced before and it looks like I'll have to do it again now on Kong.
Apparently I'm supposed to click and drag a "puzzle effect" over the to the "creation bench", whatever the hell that is. But I have now successfully determined that dragging anything in the puzzle area to any pixel on the screen does all of exactly nothing. Congrats on not tutoring me about anything in your little 'tutorial'. My best guess is that you don't actually want me to play your game. Well sir, you have triumphed in that regard!
My gun did 18 damage. Maybe it only did 1. Or maybe it did 17 trillion. Why does it matter? All you do is point and click. Not to mention the game is just a giant advertisement for something I can't remember (nor care to) even though I just played it 15 seconds ago.
Arrow control for shooters like this has always, and will continue for eternity, to always suck. I want to play this game but the touchy keyboard controls just kill it. Mouse mouse mouse.
Max toppings and Icecream and charge $6.50. This seems to be the max you can charge and still raise popularity. Once maxed, you can charge upwards of $8.00, maybe more, play with it.
I know it's been said, but it's all just too damn random. Also, and I'm sure this was by design, but you engineer the AI opponents deck to take maximum advantage of whatever 'quirk' is in each battle. All this does is make it even more compartmentalized and actually *less* strategic. It removes all real choice. "Ok, my weakness for this fight is (A). My opponent is taking advantage of it by using strategy (B). I can counter and maybe win by using strategy (C). No other option is viable, this is no strategy (D). I need (C) and that's that. Oh wait, I didn't draw the proper cards in order to deploy strategy (C)? ...refresh. You either use the perfect card combo that is needed for that fight or you lose. There is next to no wiggle room.
Addendum to prior comment: restarting does not get you the Medal badge because even in my new game I still have all the badges and thus cannot earn any more.
Another game in which beating it before it gets badges screws you. I now have to (I believe) start over in order to get the badge for the Medals because I already have them all. Also, quick tip, bring Fireman and Veteran to the final fight, use Bug Repellant, and only use the normal attack with the Alien Gun.
A gem. This is the type of game that deserves whatever praise it gets because the devs obviously earned it. Crisp production value, lack of bugs, and obvious playtesting. Many games on Kong start as really good ideas but end up as a total mess, this one saw itself squarely to the finish line. Aside from a few design errors (imo) ...such as orbiting the solar system 4 times and crash landing on Jupiter for a total of 0 damage...there is very little to gripe about here. One last thing, bravo on the difficulty. Getting all the awards is hard without being annoying....even top-value $60 mega-games still get that part wrong...often. Bravo.
