From a statistical perspective, I don't see what intercept offers that crit does not. The only difference is that the swap/rest/weak attack (generally) is in the hands of a player, which, if you get right down to it, is an emotional issue, and crit is a strategic one.
@pwnedage you "strongly" disagree? The best players seem to be erratic or err on the side of damage. Getting to know your opponent can help, but "having some control" over another person's swap is a figment of your imagination.
@mobile, crit happens. Just like miss and intercept. "Intercept" just makes you "feel" like you're in control, when, in actuallity, its usually a highly unstable situation where you can take a hit and kill the target in one hit, or they have no energy. To me, crit isn't so much different than getting intercepted or missing with that perfect quick shot.
@reggy, that's the "wink's of luck" switching/weak attack/power attack/rest guessing game that the intercept button adds to the game. There isn't a good way to determine whether you'll see a pilebunker or signature slice. I do swap out, but I don't "always" swap out.
I don't mind the critical of pilebunker. What I mind is the fact that I need to sacrifice Vanhessa to whatever non-starter character she meets (basically), and hope she doesn't get pounced on by a tiger with stupid fast hard hitting, even when you flee skills. After that, and a couple winks of fate and winning comes pretty easy. But it's tough to have two go against players with three strong cards when you have still have a starter.
Playing five card helps.
I think the starter deck size is OK, but it takes a lot of time to get the cards that you keep getting beaten by and would like to replace your starter cards with. While some might call this the spirit of gaming, arduous leveling or something, I'd like to see some way forward that doesn't arbitrarily cost 30-50% losses (yes, I know some people have a lot more trouble.)
I need better cards. I'll probably stop playing until I get something else good. It can be hard to keep going with starter cards and a few "badge cards." I'd say more badge cards would draw more players in... Otherwise it'll be while... 4/5
