interesting game, good difficulty mix. 5/5. and just to reiterate, THERE IS NO DEAD END. I bought the super strength/ladder climbing skill first, and had no problems beating the game. the top comments are WRONG.
I started with the ladder grab upgrade just because of all the comments about how they got stuck, and I'm here to report that I had no problem getting 10 coins to go back for the first skill. Disregard all comments about how it's impossible to win starting with it.
sooooooo old. I mean, I love the game, but I played it to death two years ago. I'm just going to hope they brought it to kong as a teaser for the upcoming sequel... I can dream, right?
I love logic puzzles, so I want to like this game, but I just can't bring myself to. repetitive, unchallenging gameplay in a bland, sterile package. I can't even bring myself to finish the badge. 3/5
controls are really awkward. plus, when I click on a button labelled "Hint" I expect an actual hint, not a link to the walkthrough. still, I'll give it 4/5. fun game.
FINALLY got the hard badges. I've been playing this off and on for the past YEAR, ragequit so many times. what an awesome game to keep me coming back that long.
to keep your health topped up during the hard campaign: if one of your characters is knocked out, dump all their points into health so they heal faster while you use the others. example: a character with 20/100 health will take 4 turns to fully recover, but if you boost their health to 120/200 it'll only take 2. (assuming your remaining characters can win on their own.)
gotta say, a little disappointed with this game. it's not really a sequel so much as an extra level pack for the first one. don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the original, and I played it to death, but as a result this one felt old as soon as I started playing. seriously, even some new bgm would have made this a 5, but I just can't. 4/5
good game, as is 4/5. I'd really like to see some kind of height meter, to show what level I'm dropping my piece on as compared to the highest level currently on the orb. it seems like every turn I'm scrolling around the whole orb to make sure there isn't some higher stack I should knock down; one of the side effects of half the playing surface being out of sight at all times. (not sure if that might be too much extra detail for some players, but something to consider.)
the AI is good, but it can still be manipulated. for example, on level 4, I snuck a small army to the bottom right corner and led his biggest force (150 armies) in a circle around the Aegean for 40 turns while I slaughtered him in Europe. if he had trapped me and sent those armies to the front I probably couldn't have beaten him.
the game idea is good, it has a lot of potential. but the execution is disappointing. the game takes far too long to introduce new elements, leaving things to get stale and repetitive before moving on. taken together with the fact that the individual levels are too short to pose any real puzzle, this means that only about a third of the game is actually fun. 3.5/5
Hmm, yea that's something I'll consider. Thank you =)
