To anyone who thinks there's no tutorial... instead of starting with the clearly-marked BONUS mission, try choosing single player from the menu and and playing the bootcamp there.
Sometimes, the controls don't respond - worst with jumps. Maybe a solution would be to set a flag when jump's not pressed, then if it's held down when jumping's possible (and the flag's set), assume it's been pressed right now (and maybe the keypress was simply missed), so jump and clear the flag.
Hope that makes sense; I was just trying to type something more useful than "jump button doesn't work sometimes".
