A source for jameslovecraft's comment: https://www.indiedev.gg/threads/art-theft-the-case-of-kaus.3791/ with a link to more. To prevent confusion: Kaus and Hanzo Kimura are apparently the same person.
For any new players: the game doesn't explain this very well, but (like in SUPERHOT), time slows down greatly when you aren't moving. Don't rush around in a panic, but stand still when you're going to need to dodge bullets (gives you more time to react). Also, you don't start with a gun, but that guy in front of you has one.
@Kingtrax4 It can certainly feel like that sometimes, but this week alone has BotDs for Monster Clearer, Home, Medieval Shorts 2 and SUPERHOTline Miami Deluxe, none of which beg for your money. Of course, it's easy not to notice the BotDs you already have, and almost all the games badged since the hiatus are Kred-hungry...
For those finding it to be unresponsive: apparently, playing on a 144hz monitor forces it into "slow mode"; if you can change your monitor's refresh rate, it might work better. Not very convenient, but hopefully this will help someone.
@Charleville: It's too late now, but the Import/Export option under settings also lets you save (just copy the code there into a text file, then copy it back when you want to continue) and doesn't rely on trusting the normal save system. For slow games like this, it's usually best to use all the save options and see what works for you, because there's so much progress to lose if something doesn't work right.
@KeeperBvK: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_of_Thrones_Ascent says "On October 5, 2018, it was announced that Game of Thrones: Ascent would be shutting down on January 3, 2019." Not sure how accurate that date turned out to be, but given that it's over 5 years ago, it's not surprising it's not working right now. Guess the BotD decision-making process doesn't include checking if the game still exists.
Even though you pick up snow instantly when you press space, holding space slows you down and prevents firing, so you might want to just tap space while kiting (when you move to a new square) to you can gather while moving at almost full speed.
Also, I got the medium badge right as I hit yeti level 16. If you die at 144 kills, like I did, due to not being able to pause, knowing this might make up for the lack of an in-game kill counter.
@berzerker2: Is it popping up the "Goal is closer" message? I sold 18 of each and, for the first 17, that message was the only hint at it making progress. Then I sold the 18th and got the reward.
Actually, because the slowest achievement is total saved money, you'll want to upgrade the Space job (the highest-paying job), as well as buying speed boosts as others have suggested.
An alternative to fullscreen is to zoom out (in Firefox, this is ctrl and - or ctrl and scroll your mouse wheel); doesn't matter so much here as they do have a fullscreen option in settings, but at this point I wouldn't trust Kong not to accept other oversized games that mightn't have fullscreen.
@archerbob For me, two rhymed. I rejected the one with a made-up word but not the other one, and the game told me I'd helped the hero. Maybe you didn't notice the real hero while rushing to make money before the day ran out? It can be easy to miss.
@archerbob: you don't need watermelon seeds (and they're not particularly good gifts anyway). Instead, try this: after digging some squares to plant stuff in, open the shop (tent icon in the bottom right), click the PLANTS button (looks like a banana), and buy and plant beans (others work too, but beans give good food for their cost, grow in just an hour and last two days before wilting). Then, when you harvest them, go back into the shop, click the SPECIAL button (lightning bolt) and buy a lot of salt, then go into your workshop (hammer and saw button on the main screen), click the food button (the bowl) and you can cook beans on the first page. Save some beans for planting more later, though, to save buying new seeds.
Funny how bored the default character looks. Fitting too; I'm sure there'll be lots of people looking just as bored getting this BotD.
Hopefully, at least, they won't lose their progress before getting the badge like I did. Once was bad enough; I'm skipping today's badge.
Oh and, yes, there SHOULD be an option to use the older and better layout instead of needing to edit the page in your browser, but we have to deal with the Kongregate we have, not the Kongregate we want.
@kellcey If you're using Firefox, press F12 and click the Inspector tab to the left. Find the line saying "sticky top-0 z-100" (it'll highlight the banner thing if you hover your mouse over it) and delete that line; it only stops the banner following as you scroll and leaves the version at the top of the page. I'm not sure how to do it in other browsers; for Chrome, you might need to use DevTools.
By the way, for Firefox users who want to stop the top banner not scrolling off the top of the screen but don't know how: press F12 and it's the Inspector tab to the left.
Also, I notice that, despite all the supposed improvements, comments still don't seem to support simple linebreaks. Guess I'll test a couple of possibilities here, just to be sure.[br][p]If that didn't work, this will look stupid.
