Another problem: if you build walls too close to the edge, the enemy units will march in past them. This is particularly irritating at the hard levels. :-{
I like the game, overall, but it's way too easy to get "stuck" - where the enemies are out of range of my troops, firing at some building that regenerates as fast or faster than they fire. There needs to be a "stop the madness" button, or a loop detector, or something that doesn't cost me having to re-play the entire level.
18 challenge: fire a bomb sideways into the 2nd/3rd tier. Wait. 29 challenge: Fire a 5 from the 10:30 position at a slight upward angle. Then at a different angle. Get ** and *0 greens.
I don't know anything about Ireland. And after playing this, I still don't know anything about Ireland. Label the counties, put some towns in, maybe some real-time GPS info for when car bombs go off. The basics are there, but it's not really a teaching tool until there's something to learn.
BUG: If you lose on a level with modifiers (blind, hard, etc.) then "restart", the level plays without the modifiers, but the score is still multiplied.
boss (turtle, crab, squid, etc.) fights have a timer at the top of the screen. Kill the boss before the timer gets to 0:00, or it starts shooting and generally just kills you.
For myself, I think the mining powers are important, then the command center, then power, then all the rest. So to start the game, I upgrade the command center for power (and speed, when I have more than 1500 res to start) I build a mine, then 10 mine ships, then power, then mine upgrades, then whatever it takes to fight the level.
For new players, the "sectors" you capture provide different special bonus powers. These are REALLY important. Get them in a good order, so that you have the good ones from the beginning. Also, keep in mind that the early levels are easy, so if you have a hard time with many planets, or few planets, or whatever, get those first. :-)
