Pretty good except it's glitchy, doesn't register achievements right (maybe it messes up when you try to submit score, because I've done that twice and it hasn't registered my progress for achievements either time)
Pretty good, a nice improvement on the first game in terms of variety and depth. My biggest criticism is that the difficulty seems to oscillate too wildly - sometimes it's a breeze, and sometimes enemies are coming at you faster than your weapons can possibly fire. I also disagree with hiding the mission requirements until you unlock them - some are pretty unintuitive, and it would be nice to know about them from the beginning. Finally, the hints seem a little weak as rewards (although admittedly I haven't seen all of them yet). Maybe some of them could unlock cheat codes (that would exclude you from earning missions, naturally)(disregard this if some of the later hints unlock cheats).
Oh, and the game seemed a bit long, too-- I think a shorter main game would allow for greater experimentation and exploration, as well as turn this away a bit from the endurance match it is at times.
Ah... like achilles, this game is sort of hit or miss (though pretty good overall). It's still infuriating to get ganged up on by multiple enemies. My biggest complaints for this game in particular are that your henchmen will go running after enemies that appear off the left of the screen, forcing you to either let themselves get beat up without your help, or backtrack to help them (which wouldn't be so bad if that didn't cause MORE enemies to spawn!), and also that there is no way to deselect moves you've purchased to focus your fighting style. It'd also be nice to choose what moves you want to have for survival and gladiator modes (plus episode 4). Still, thank you for giving us this entertaining game!
Pretty interesting game. The web physics, while imperfect, are certainly deep enough to give an involved experience, and the enemy variety is good. The strategy that worked for me was: Working from the middle, build vertical strands close together, then connect them with tight horizontal strands. Once you're done with a patch of this tight webbing, extend it to either side with more tight vertical and horizontal strands. The idea is to focus on building a small amount of strong webbing instead of covering the screen with weak webbing. With this strategy your web should never cover more than half the screen (although in the beginning especially, it's OK to put a few strands through the empty space to catch a few extra flies and ladybugs). If holes appear in what you've already built, keep your cool and rebuild before you worry about expansion.
I'm interested in seeing more original games from this developer. Keep it up, man!
I think the damage needed to be more consistant, enemies shouldn't be able to kick you multiple times and keep you stunned indefinitely (because of which the third boss needs rebalancing), there needs to be some way to deal with 2 enemies ganging up on you without getting killed, enemies sometime aren't stunned when you kick them, fix being unable to hit an enemy when you're right on top of them, some kind of story would be nice (even just a single paragraph of text), and be able to kill the last boss without needing your invincibility after dying multiple times.
...buuuuuutt other than that it was pretty good :) The combat felt visceral and fun, and the imagery (heads chopped off, spear through the skull) was awesome. When things all lined up and you're mowing down row after row of greek soldiers, it's an experience. You just need to deliver that experience more consistently.
There REALLY needs to be some way to actually tell when you can eat a type of dog, and you need to stop getting eaten by things physically smaller than you.
This game is a unique and entertaining experience. It's almost hypnotic the way the synchronized music and action seem to blend together, and as they chase your cursor around it's almost like conducting an orchestra of some kind. Losing instantly if you click is very annoying, though (I've accidentally clicked several times). I assume it's to prevent cheating that would be easier if you could click, but, looking at the "high scores", it's obvious people cheat anyway.
A pretty fun game. My biggest criticism is that it's practically impossible to attack your opponent before tech level 5, even on "normal". I know you're suppossed to balance attack and defense, but in practice it amounts to sitting behind your turret defenses all the way until you're on level 5 and you've saved up enough for a super soldier or 2. Still, pretty fun the first play through,
A pretty good game, and an innovative puzzle concept, but it really, really, really, really, really, really, (you get the point don't you?) needs a save or continue or checkpoint function of SOME sort. It is infuriating to have to start all the way over form the beginning, especially with all the little ways things can go wrong in this game. I understand that this sort of game is going to be largely dependent on random chance, and after all that's a large reason the bonus powers are there. But it creates a very steep learning curve. Some notes: 1. It should be more clear when there is a gap in the ring, many times I have put in the final piece and lost because I couldn't spot at first where the pieces didn't match up. 2. There needs to be a page, perhaps in the instructions but preferably able to be referenced at any time, that lists out all of the possible special combinations and what rewards you get for them. I was puzzled at the seemingly arbitrary points and rewards.
Another good entry in this unique series, but it didn't really seem to lead up to any solid conclusion. Any one of these episodes could effectively stand on its own.
An innovative and informative look into the structure and nature of entertaining games. I'd recommend any aspiring game designers to watch this series.
An interesting game, though one that perhaps could have been done better. For instance, the ability to discard two cards at once would be a helpful addition, because you often get stuck with useless cards based on your luck.
