Does anyone know if this actually had an ending if you get to level 80, or does it just go on forever? Because I don't have the patience to sit through 40 more levels of this. Oh, it's a very fun, original, and educational game, but it gets tiring after a while, and the difficulty seems just a touch to high (on the later levels, at least).
I think this game may be overambitious in it's complexity, although perhaps it's just that I personally can't keep up with it... but either way, I felt like things were happening too quickly for me to keep up with and worry about the whole color aspect of the game. Also, it's very difficult to control the firing of the 4 turrets at once. But I think CyrikRiand had left a much more thorough review than I could :P
Cool game, but it is WAY too harsh to lose everything if just a single GM happens to walk by when you're not looking, especially given how long it takes to get up to high levels. Would it hurt the game in any way to just lose a bunch of money and a few levels instead of having to start from scratch? The text of the getting caught screen doesn't even say anything about losing the high level account - you should be able to resume playing with the high level character with a month added to the date, even if all your money is lost.
A pretty cool game. Most of the levels were pretty easy, but entertaining nonetheless, and a few were real challenges. I think the last level calls for a bit too high a count, though; 99 hits just takes too long. You could've made it 50 hits with slightly smaller paddles for an equivalent challenge.
God... the more I try at the stupid hard badge the more ticked off I get. I mean, seriously! Does it need to autosave? Why can't you just start the day over if you mess up instead of needing to restart from the damn beginning? And how come you can't tell whether you got any achievements until the level is over?
REALLY needs a quit to menu option so you don't have to refresh the whole webpage everytime you need to restart while trying to get to the hard badge. It's a fun game until you go for the hard badge; then it kind of just gets annoying.
Wow... I am blown away, and I can't wait for the next two installments in this series. The light effects are spectacular (which they should be for this game!) and the ambiance is incredible. The voice acting is immersive if very slightly overdone. The darkness biting you if you don't chase it away with the flashlight? Classic horror genius. And the scene selection is very fitting for such an "artistic" style game. The one thing I noticed is that it's impossible to actually die; the screen just flashes red, but you can keep running into a monster for five minutes straight and never see a game over screen. I haven't decided if this is a good idea or bad; on the one hand, a lot of the fear goes away once you realize you're immortal; on the other hand, a similar loss of fear as well as a break in immersion would probably occur if you did die and had to restart from a checkpoint. Plus, thinking you're ABOUT to die can be a lot scarier than actually dying! :D
A neat game. To make a little suggestion, though, you might be able to get more involved in the music if the action was directly tied to the rhythm - say, if the appearance rather than the disappearance of the orbs was tied to the music.
A good experimental game; I'm not the biggest fan of the genre, but the gameplay here is good as well (I particularly like the low penalty for dying, start right back from the same screen), and It's an interesting take on the story of Orpheus, which is probably my favorite myth. Ending was a bit sudden though. I don't just mean it was unexpected, I mean it happened in a flash and I only saw it out of the corner of my eye, but then I was back at the title screen and didn't have another chance to see it. Other than that, great.
Far from perfect--Mainly it's not a very smooth playing experience. And losing if you lose just one ball is pretty annoying. Still, for a first time effort it's pretty decent.
In the level with the fork between the endings, you can get stuck if you shift into the floor and have to restart the whole game. There should've been a simple restart level option like there was in shift 1.
Good game. My only comment is that I think you should be able to replay previous missions to gain more XP; if you get insufficient bonus XP, that can accumulate into a defecit that just gets worse and worse.
Even though most of the commentors are being unhelpfully rude, it's true that the computer seems to have a definite and annoying statistical advantage on their die rolls. If this is unintentional you should look into your randomization code, and if it's intentional you should think about changing it. Still, it's the closest flash to risk I've found yet, so you get points from me there.
I like the blob physics, but in practice the game is too easy on the early levels or when there's a dna powerup, and too annoying on the later levels when there's a ton of viruses and no DNA. The boss was pretty interesting, though.
