Now that's a pretty cool game, short and enjoyable, and has some replay value. Tip: after completing the game for the first time, choose "Retire Quietly", which means you start over but can keep one squad of your current army. No, you can't accumulate an all-elite force by redoing the campaign five times, you can always keep only one squad. Take a Walker for maximum firepower and versatility. Also, always keep at least one squad of Light Infantry throughout the game as these are the only ones you can deploy every turn. Also, one squad of Rocket Infantry is a good idea in most encounters. If enemy has airpower, pick Rocket Sentry. Samurai are also pretty good. I don't bother with Aerial units myself, except if I see the enemy has nothing to shoot down aircraft. Other units to avoid: Sentry, Tank, Shield Drone. For special qualities, I prefer extended attack range or anything that increases damage.
Snaks is right, the hairpin curves especially in China are really unfair because _you_ have to slow down to ~150mph to avoid crashing, while _everyone else_ zips past with 200mph. I'm in the lead, I'm in the lead, now comes the curve, *zoomzoomzoomzoomzoom* I'm back at 8th. RAGEQUIT!
Pretty nice game, but there seem to be some bugs in it. #1: when dying after killing a boss with buddy, you don't get the buddy. #2: I found the last robot part and got the lightsabre on the same day. I tried to kill the wizard, died, and lost the lightsabre. :( Now how am I ever supposed to win?
Three negative points: First: too much grinding. I am stuck on level 10 and can't even count how often I played level 9. Second: Bosses have too many HP. Especially the 2nd one. Even if I could figure out how to inflict enough damage before dying, it would still be just a tedious war of attrition. Third: seriously, too much grinding!
Ugh.... I was beginning to think the "Jingle Bell Rock" was a loop that would repeat endlessly until you get the gong. At long last I finished it. But still, some of the songs are really awesome. My favourite is God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Anyway, 5/5, that was clear from the first song on!
The game is alright, though a bit longish. I have over an hour of playtime logged already and haven't even gotten 50% of the parts. Kong could really fork over a Hard badge simply for the amount of time it takes.
At first it's quite a grind; I took the Dart for the copper bonus and scored maybe 5K on a good run, often much less. But when I could finally afford the Looper. Woo hoo! Much more satisfying. A three-sixty will take care of any Dusters in the vicinity. Though, I find it a bit unfair that Dusters and Turtles can still deploy poison gas when they are already Going Down. Anyway, once you get past the initial grind it's a pretty good game.
Urgh. Nice concept and general idea, but so boring in actual play. The whole game behaves like in slow motion. The level 10 boss fight was so tedious that even after hitting him the 2nd time I was tempted to just quit and be done with it. Speed up the whole gameplay maybe 50% or more and we'd be talking.
What the hell Kong? I was about to post a surefire strategy to beat survival mode, and it wouldn't let me post it due to "unacceptable words or phrases" - without actually saying what was so unacceptable. Sorry, my mind isn't dirty enough to figure out what could possible be wrong with what I wrote.
Yarrrr. It's pretty hard, but mainly due to the erratic movements of enemies and hostages.
Anyway, here are some hints for level 14: grab the first radio bomb and blow up the north wall immediately, when the grenadeer (launcher guy) is still near it. That should take him out. Then take the 2nd radio bomb and repeat with south wall, time for the 2nd grenadeer to pass. Kill the regular guards as usual - I found it best to strafe them from long range, as that gives you more time to dodge the return fire. If you clear out the top left rooms first without blowing up more walls, you will have some breathing space and a natural choke point in the centre of the map. Don't ever let a grenadeer see you, as he goes all native and will usually kill hostages with his nade salvos. Usually your best bet for the rest of the level is to keep taking out the grenadeers with radio bombs from the far side of a wall. Still, there's some chance involved, so - good luck!
If you got transformed into a Cube, purple or otherwise (there are also red and green ones), you cant revert - just wobble over to the exit and play the next level. Oh and yes, I agree with those other folks here, Birdman Tribe Leader is definitely the best character - flies and has enormous attack. Yesterday I favoured Cleric because of Cure, but the BTL doesn't _need_ cure. Awesome.
If you're a klutz like me, go Cleric. Excellent melee capability (Staff is fast and does a lot of damage) and practically infinite hitpoints (Cure). I don't even know what Pray does. :P
Ah, I loved Worms, but this is even better. Oberth Slingshot + Nuclear Weaponry = Epic Win! Though I have to admit, I completed the first 15 levels or so before even realizing how to change weapons. XD Silly me, I know. Then as soon as I figured out how to switch weps... all gold. More badges!
To get the Hard badge: equip your smallest hull, max out main engine, tanks and fins. In flight, do NOT use the onboard boosters at all! Also actively avoid the accelerators. CUT YOUR THRUST (with Down arrow) often to reduce your speed (you still need the biggest engine for fuel efficiency), especially in the low altitudes before the view zooms out. Collect extra fuel cans on the way but nothing else. When a cluster of obstacles appears right ahead, cut thrust and drift away to the side instead of trying to navigate through the middle.
Your main fuel should be good for about 270K ft if you pick up just a few cans, so don't worry about your boosters.
@Itachik, to kill Waizer: I can only give you a hint for Stark One so far: just max out your Passion and keep spamming Power Attack on him. That inflicts about 100 damage on Waizer which is well enough to stun him. Repeat 5 or 6 times and you come out totally untouched. He'll never have the chance to move.
Nice game, but I've had a bug: pressing Shift usually does nothing. Only after pressing it several times does it bring the map screen. Even more annoying is that then the map screen won't go _away_ anymore. Once I even had to reload the whole page, i.e. restart the game to get rid of it. So eventually I played it through without looking at the map.
Awesome game, I had hours of fun! I went for Stark One with dual longswords, focusing on Speed, and Martial and Innerforce skills. Also Intimidate is a great debuff to have; and for foes with very high Protection, like Wazier, the cheap and easy Power Attack (with maxed-out Passion) is the way to go. I guess I might as well replay it as Wildcat.
One more thing, it would be nice if there was a "Full Attack" button (maximum number of attacks vs. one foe) to speed up combat, and if looting went a little quicker. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
