This is one of the hardest RPG I've played, but its not frustrating at all. Its because you've managed to achieve a level of balance in every facet of this game that most game companies would be drooling over. I'm more than willing to wait for however long it takes for the next chapter. The wait will be worth it.
Sort of agree with Icantlose. Its more like you have trouble drawing younger aged people. When (please not if) Mardek 4 comes out you may want to think about making a few base sprite faces for kids and working from those.
Not too sure how far into the game I am to be honest, but so far it lacks any sort of feeling to the escalation. There are weapons in the shops that are over ten times the amount of gold I have and some are less than a tenth of what I have, the HP of enemies in the same battle are all over the place, and I have no real idea what level I should before going into non-random battles in dungeons. Try giving the player some kind of scale so they know if they need to train more or not.
It'd be nice if you could see an estimate of what skill level you need to be to craft something. I've been increasing blacksmithing forever and it my chances are still zero.
Is anyone else running into the glitch where your towers just stop firing? I'll get almost all the way through a hard level and everything will just stop firing for reasons unknown to me. Any thoughts on it?
There is an interesting ending, but man was it a pain to get to it. The last pixel after you get first set of wings is on the top right of the map where those little stubby platforms are. Go up on them until you can't anymore, then there'll be a platform off to the right. Fly to it then back to teh last peg platform. You should be able to get that last anooying pixel now.
Here's something that might help speed some people along: When you can, upgrade dual gem, bouncing mastery, and mana gain mastery. The multiple hits start granting a lot of extra mana early on and the dual gems are powerful just in terms of attack.
