I've read in the past that the USSR was a very corrupt bureaucratic kleptocracy, where it's nigh impossible to get many things done without bribery, favors or intimidation. I wonder how much like that it still is? I wonder what present or former residents of Russia would have to say about this game?
I like artwork for this game, and it's an interesting engine for building things. But there doesn't seem to be any storyline, and the way the build queue works is annoying. I think you should be able to queue up stuff based on future resources you think you'll have, and then if a robot comes to a queue item that there aren't enough resources for it will just skip to the next item in the queue.
If this game had appeared on Kongregate five years ago, I'd guess that within two months it would have had 1 or 2 million plays. But today, in 2016, it has 87,369 plays after two months. It seems to me smartphones and all are killing Kongregate, and Armor Games, and Addictinggames. All my old stomping grounds. Such is the way of the world . . .
It's just boring. No plot, repetitive gameplay, several annoying features. And the "Little Helper that shoots enemies" is pretty much useless, blindly shooting at nothing every second or two, meaning 95% misses.
Solar cells don't generate heat. They convert light directly into electricity. And to my knowledge wind turbines last a very long time, which makes them relatively efficient in the long run.
Right clicking on one of the sparkling items should make your characters immediately go to use it, rather than giving you an option to "Move" to it. What use is it to move to it? RTS's have been using right click to use objects as long as I can remember.
Here's data from my little experiment. I started by buying all upgrades except the "Money" upgrade. I reached the last boss on day 5. Here's the timeline from there, with the day and how much cash I obtained that day:
DAY5: 2450,
DAY6: 2450,
DAY7: 2450,
Bought money upgrade 1
DAY8: 2695,
Bought money upgrade 2
DAY9: 2940,
Bought money upgrade 3
DAY10: 3185,
Bought money upgrade 4
DAY11: 3430,
Bought money upgrade 5
DAY12: 3675
Each upgrade gave 10% more money. So each upgrade gives a max of $245 more per day, if you reach all the bosses and get all the money from them. The 4th upgrade costs $450, so it would take at least 2 days for it to pay for itself. The 3rd upgrade, at $180, might be able to pay for itself, but chances are you could find something better to spend that on. But first two upgrades are pretty decent.
Boss Slayer has been my coffee break game lately--thank you Awoke! But I wondered about the money upgrade, and tested it. Each level gives 10% more money than if you had no upgrades. Fully upgrading gives you 150% money. But the upgrades get more expensive... I think you'd actually be better off putting the money into better weapons or more health. The equipment is actually a better return on investment, since it lets you fight more difficult enemies and pick up more money that way. The first 2 or 3 money upgrades could be worthwhile by day 3 or so, if you can't afford weapon/health upgrades. But the last two upgrades are so expensive that together it will take a minimum of 6 days (5.1) for them to pay for themselves. The game isn't long enough to make them worthwhile.
Great game, awesome soundtrack, lots of useful upgrades. I only have a few suggestions. There seems to be something wrong with the "Collect" feature. When it pulls diamonds toward you, if they start going horizontal, they'll often continue moving that way instead of stopping once you're out of range. Also, it would be nice if the collect radius got to be much larger by the end, so the last upgrade could pull diamonds from anywhere on the screen. And having double shot, triple shot and multi-shot would be nice, to make hitting enemies a little easier. But it's still great, and I'll have to check out the second game.
It's nice that they turned the Sentry Knight games into a top-down shooter. It makes a lot of sense. They probably already had a lot of the code written. But it would be nice to have upgrades for faster firing rate and faster movement speed.
2 UAV's, shield, minigun, rail gun, and laser FTW! I used tier 4 vehicles 1 and 3 and tier 5 vehicle 1, and tore through while taking barely any damage.
I don't remember seeing this on the Kong homepage as a new game available or anything. I just did a search for Dino Run and I realized this was new and played it. If it were actually advertised by Kong I think a ton more people would play it.
Wow, I cannot remember the last time I played Ski Free. It was definitely years ago, probably before 2005 even. I remember going to computer stores in the 90's and playing it on stock computers, trying in vain to outrun that abominable snowman. And now it's in the intro for Crystal Story II. Who would have though it?
