Forget if I commented about this, but this is the first flash game where I'd love to see an expansion set. If the engine of this game can be easily reused, oh the possibilities...
Good game. Minor complaints: collision detection seems a bit overzealous (probably an artifact of flash), balls being pushed through the floor and being returned through the roof directly into a ball I'm growing.
As a game, Bots Arena shows it's weakness when a comparison is made between the Career mode and the Challenge mode. The career mode, while mentioning tactics, is a completely strategic game. I never once had to maneuver my bots to win the Career mode. The Challenge mode, while mentioning 'strategy' in the opening credits, provides very little strategy and a painful tactical challenge with the extremely limited controls available to the player when it comes to controlling bots. In terms of UI in the bot planning arena, I would give the game a 4 out of 5. However, when it comes to execution of the game, I give it 2 out of 5. Sorry, there just isn't a real game here. (And I'm sorely annoyed that one of my badges must be earned by playing the aggravating challenges.)
After lots of play time, I felt it necessary to re-rate this game to 4/5. The issue: too many repetitive battles. Problem: there seems to be an overpopulation of bandits living off of scraps and 1 gallon of water per 10 members of the bandit group. For a game that relies heavily on numbers and planning, something could be done about making the bandit population more "realistic."
