BTW, the machine gun sucks...
It costs 2500 for a 200 damage, delay 6 with good range. --------- An upgraded Uzi costs 500 for a 120 damage, delay 6 with less range. 500% the cost for 50% more range and 60% more damage? No thx!
Its so-so. The key to unlock is that you have to have a fully upgraded dude of EACH gun type (or melee type), AND in each path. A few of them diverge... such as the uzi that becomes an assault rifle OR a shotgun path.
recopy when low:-------------The key is to realize that upgrading your lazers is USELESS. It's MUCH better to spam lots of basic ones that use little power and do good damage, instead of one big lazer that eats tons of power for weak damage. Seriously... TRY IT! Upgrade every 5th one to a Pulser to shoot down missiles and you will be fine. Use ONE upgraded missile launcher to be able to deal with Motherships. But otherwise, a bunch of basic lazers are good enough...backed up with a few repair stations.--------This strategy allowed me to beat the last mission, which I couldnt get much past 10 minutes on otherwise.
Hints: The blue airships are CRAZY GOOD! Their platform works as a decoy, and they absorb SO MUCH machine gun fire that normally easily hits your main gun. Start with your best gun and try to survive the first wave if you can (for maximum XP initially for damage upgrade). If you cant tho, add 1 blue guy in front. My favorite config is 1 machine gun of whatever type, 1 damage booster, and as many blue guys as I can get.

This game sucks. What I hate is that my energy usage all the sudden spikes up for no friggin reason. 2 maxed energy makers with battery? No worries... then all the sudden my 4 lazers apparantly need ALL the juice... they didnt need it LAST BATTLE. Energy use is EXTREMELY arbitrary and you have NO IDEA how to effectively know how much you need.
Be nice if it said: Lazer 1 = 50 energy per second... or whatever. And why do energy makers keep making more and more and more energy over time? I just dont get it.
Guide: Make sure your anti-vehicle goes FIRST! WHen you kill them, infantry come out, so you dont want to kill them late. Set Artillery to Strongest so they will target the big HP vehicles first. Start with a few EMP and then many Artillery... they do decent damage vs early infantry and cover your vehicle later.
NEXT, Mortars are the key to the game. Upgrade them ASAP for more damage AND SPLASH! They go right behind the artillery. Behind them, machine guns. Use SAMS for anti-air...dont try to use many machine guns.
FOCUS on upgrading 1 tower instead of spreading it out. 1 big one has same damage/cost ratio, BUT lots more range and splash.
MICROWAVE tower sucks. Avoid it!
First, you need to play once and create EVERY combo. From then on, you can reference the Combo Sheet in the pause menu.
Next, your score is LARGELY based on how fast the next wave comes. So click Next Wave as soon as you can.
You should do a 2 pass system... where each tower gets to attack the baddies twice. That means build on the most narrow strips between paths.
Once baddies get to your 1st Pass, click NEXT WAVE.
The goal is to avoid IDLE TIME when your towers are not shooting... AND ensure that the towers are not double-booked... which means they are shooting their second pass guys while the first pass guys are in firing range.
Use lots of CONFUSE towers. A single Slow tower should be the first one the baddies hit. I would NOT upgrade to slow splash. It hits each baddie as it goes by, so you get the same net effect.
Slow doesnt stack, so you only need 1.
Get some STUN towers too and a few teleport, as some mobs are immune to Confuse.
So by level 10+, my strategy is:
First, do a single upgrade for one gem type.
Then, lay down a couple of the upgraded gems of that type. You have to rely on sword/fireball to survive. After you have about 4 gems laid down, Upgrade a SECOND type of gem, then start laying those down. This keeps one monster mob that resists your first gem from crushing you midgame, as the second gem towers will get them.
Continue in this manner until you have 7 of each type of gem. If it goes further, you might do the same with a 3rd gem type.
There is a LOT of stuff they dont really tell you.
First, once you upgrade your gem category, you have to PLACE the upgraded ones. It has NO EFFECT on existing gems!
Second, upgraded gems cost more.
Third, you can only have SEVEN of each gem type on screen.
Fourth, certain colors do more damage to certain creeps than others. A single gem strategy has big problems due to this.
Finally, when you upgrade a gem category, they are more expensive to place.
Bonus: If you place 1 gem over an existing one... it OVERWRITES IT!
Another note: On the Single Tab fights (like only infantry, etc), you can build MORE THAN ONE unit of that type at a time. So you can spam out your entire infantry line in 2 seconds.
HOW TO BEAT AIR LEVEL: Use your XP to train the First skill... it does NOT increase how many units you have on screen...it increases your GREEN UNIT count. At level 1, 120 enemy vs 55 you with buggyness = loss. I leveled it to like level 12 or so, and it was 190 Green vs their 120 red. Easy win!
Prplcheez, people put their badge accomplishments because they are stupid idiots. I like to get badges and all because it is a goal to strive for. However, filling up the comment board with nothing but 'badge reports' really is the height of idiocy...
Do NOT build next to your tree. Start with 1 Tornado as far from the tree as possible...right next to the entry bridge. Next round, add 2 Vines as close as possible. Upgrade those and keep upgrading Towers.
At around round 10ish, you may want to repeat the pattern. This puts baddies in perpertual slowdown and Area effect damage.
Note: Vines work FINE against AIR! (no anti air needed)
Make 2 towers right next to the bottom of the entrance. This forces baddies to come out one small space at the top, which makes them bunch up.
Then, make a semicircle around those 2 blocks, something like this: .)
Then, you make a bigger semicircle around all that building and continue doing so.
The semicircle approach is MUCH better than vertical/horizontal lines because it forces the bad guys to stay in the range of your main guns a lot longer. Create your main guns (stick, area effect) in the middle of the semicircle.
Finally, as you get better, find ways to add a WHOLE square worth of room in certain places and corners to add the Electro Plates which slow down baddies.
I recommend the Archer. You have the range of the mage, with increased speed. As you pump DEX, your speed goes even faster! DO NOT train your first basic shot. It adds a bit of damage, but WAY increases the energy usage. Pumping DEX and better Bows will be most of the increase anyways. Trust me on this!
