Just got the hard badge! The tips from other players on the different patterns helped a lot, but here's one I didn't see: there's one pattern of crisscross small bullets immediately followed by larger bullets. People are making it harder than it needs to be. Between the 5th and 6th "points" from the right hand side of the boss, there's a space large enough to hide in, and nothing in that pattern or the "pulse" pattern will hit you. No need to move in and out of the bullets, just sit there until that pattern is over.
I don't care for games where you're forced into one outcome. I might have enjoyed it if there were multiple endings. As it is, I'm not going to bother to finish it even for the 5 points from the badge. There's enough "bad news" in real life. I don't want to help create bad news in a game. :-(
There's a bug with the Wyrm Drill. It worked great when I first altered a wyrm, and I have 2 block wide holes down into the depths to prove it. Now, when I try to drill, it randomly stops drilling at the worst times (usually when something is chasing me). It quits working in the middle of the same rock/dirt/whatever substance I've just been mining through with no problems. (Sometimes it won't even mine through topsoil.) All of a sudden as I'm mining, I hit what seems to be a wall, and then the wyrm drill will only drill if I change direction, and then only one block in the new direction before I have to change direction again to make it work. This leads to some very bizarre zigzag tunnels, and usually to my being killed by golems or being unable to uncover the thing in need underground. On my last trip down, it even mined a few isolated holes diagonally from where I was standing without mining the block right in front of me. And yes, the wyrm is fully fed, so it's not that.
I can't fix a bug I can't find - and I've drilled a LOT with the wyrm drill without this ever happening. Does it have something to do with your save in particular? If so, send it to me, otherwise see if you can figure out a consistent way to make the bug occur and describe the steps to do it.
It would be nice if you could do manual work in the store as well as the fields. If you've bought upgrades to the salesmen selling price, it's beneficial to sell that crop in the store rather than with the buy all button. Salesmen are slow, though, and it would be nice to be able to speed up that process.
It looks like you are only meant to get one purple "suit" for your whole game. Because of this, I recommend replaying the first few levels from the beginning until you get the "mini suit." It decreases your size by 30%, as well as reducing the damage you take. The size reduction is a permanent advantage when dodging bullets and rocks later on.
It's easy to beat the hard version of any one-on-one level - for your first move, just go after the same planet as the AI goes for. The AI will retreat, allowing you to conquer your first planet before it can conquer one.
For those who just started the game and feel like it's difficult, keep going a couple of levels. Once you start upgrading, it gets very easy. I'm most of the way through the first campaign on elite difficulty, and I've never had a bomb dropped on my main gun. One thing that I've found to be helpful: if you upgrade damage, firing speed, and reload speed, but don't upgrade accuracy much, you can point your gun at the middle of the left side of the screen and you'll cover the whole left side with bullets.
Don't know if the dev still pays attention to this, but I would really like to see a new version of this game. It's fun, but not balanced. I've been grinding away, trying to get all the heroes to max level. The problem is that the xp cost increases with each upgrade bought, and the heroes don't have the same number of upgrades, so I have all but the wizard essentially at max, but I still need 3 upgrades for him, and the next one will cost over 600k xp. More info is needed in the game about how xp is accrued as well -- is it the damage the heroes do? Or the number of tiles collected for them? Many of the upgrades appear useless because they are duplicates, but some of the duplicates increase the power of the skill in question. This should be stated in the game. If this game were balanced, with all of the info available, it would be really fun to play around with optimal combinations of hero colors. As it is, I'm probably close to giving up on upgrading that wizard.
This game has a lot of bugs. Usually I can only complete one or two levels before I have to refresh the game. It requires you to create an account on a third party site to play most of the game. And the part of the game that is available on Kongregate is really, really easy, even with all of the difficulty levels activated at once. Normally I enjoy Civilizations Wars games, but this one was an exception.
This game is kind of frustrating because it's so luck based. I've seen it go on and on with no bullets left, and I've seen it end really quickly because of having no ships on screen multiple times. Also, 3 times now the game has lost some of my progress, resetting me to a point where I don't have any of the final upgrades. :-(
I'd tried over and over to get "brilliant" on level 15. I'd tried various strategies, only to fail. Finally, I managed to kill the ninja boss before he could get to the gems. "Home free!" I thought. "Not so fast!" my computer replied, and froze and automatically refreshed the page with just a couple of waves to go. >:-(
I have a problem. I have solved all of the puzzles I can get to, most of them multiple times to make sure I didn't miss anything. I have a blue lock blocking my way in the room with the scrambled words and the raven in the window, and all I have is a yellow key. The walkthrough shows a blue key in the second chest in the room with the two large gear puzzles, but there was nothing in my second chest. Is there something I'm missing, or do I have to start over?
