Despite having graphics that are straight from an Atari 2600 (I actually owned one as a kid) this game imparts more emotions and feelings than most games with the best graphics. I muted it at the start because I was watching something, and I forgot to unmute it until I was almost done, which sucks because just having the rain made for such a great atmosphere. When I got to the girl, I thought you just had to outrun her. Took me a minute to realize I died every time I turned around. Then I remembered the story of Orpheus. The 2nd half of the game when you're walking back is just brilliant. You have to get by everything without looking back. When the girl was following me, even though it was just pixel graphics, I felt very...haunted, and yet loved by her. Incredible that he was able to create such a game using the simplest of methods. Goes to show that it's quality, not quantity and that sometimes, more really is less.
Good god. I just got the hard badge. Every single other level (with the exception of Nebulosi Nidus, that one was a massive pain in the ace) isn't too hard. It's just time consuming because you have to get the exact perfect angles and timing for everything. Then I got to the mother f*cking Tower of Glory. Nothing in a game (flash/console/anything else) has EVER made me rage as hard as that did. It took an hour and a half, 1 almost broken mouse and 3 cigarettes to finally get the Thunder and Ace finishes. Every other level was just about patience and timing and took no more than 2 to 20 minutes tops. But the TOG is the most evil, twisted, and sadistic level ever programmed into any game..... ever. Overall, fantastic game that I love. With the exception of Nebulosi Nidus (2nd most rage inducing level), I enjoyed most of the levels. So, despite having the most difficult, evil and sadistic level ever made, it's a really good game.
Annnd ANOTHER TD game. Sigh. Despite the fact that I think there are way, way, way too many TD games...which all get badges, I have to admit that Kingdom Rush changed my mind about TD. I've always hated them, but KR is an incredible game that became one of my favorites. It seriously changed my view in TD games. Hopefully this one surprises me just as much.
This is a great game with one flaw that ruins it for me. How quickly you die. You can only take 4 or 5 hits before you die. And since you have to be close to the zombies to hit them with a melee, you're going to get hit. With how easy it is to die, losing half your cash and 2 hours is a pretty stiff penalty since you only have a total of 36 hours.
Pretty good game. I like the concept and multiple ending are always good. The one thing though is that it would have been nice to be directly told we need to eat 4 of a certain something for that breath type. It took me awhile to figure out. Also, it does get a bit repetitive since you're really doing the same thing over and over, just with different breaths. All in all though, not bad.
I love how his voice gets all weak and hoarse when your beam is low. This was a really great game. The boss fight was actually the funnest part. My only issue was that my mouse kept going off the screen, so I couldn't move and then I'd get hit. 4/5 It's DAMN DINO TASTIC!
Ok. I just got the medium badge and, I have to admit; this game grew on me. It wasn't until about level 13 that I actually began to understand the controls. Basically, while you're holding A, you're in focus mode. While in focus, press an arrow key in the direction you want to dash. If you wanna go up and to the right, pressthe up and right arrow keys at the same time. After you've hit the direction you want to go, hit S. Press S while in focus will make you dash. Hit S multiple times to do multiple dashes. The circle has to be 2/3 of the way full to dash. It will be red when it is. Getting close to things that hurt you, will increase your focus so you can dash. On one level you have to cross a very large gap while ninja stars shoot across it. You have to stay close to the stars to keep your focus up, but make sure not to hit them. Once I actually got the controls down, I actually started to have fun with this. + this if it made it any clearer at all.
Know what I just realized? The whole Focus thing is taken directly from the game Focus...I mean it's identical. You even use the focus to get through lasers and it surrounds you with a bubble. No matter how long I play this for, I just cannot get used to the controls. They are just horrendous and completely and utterly ruin a decent game. The badges are just chore badges.
I'm actually surprised. I only played the first stage and it was better than I expected...fun even. Too bad the badges were taken off. Also, this is the only game which Kongregate itself has a comment on. Of course it can't compare to the console series. Been forever since I played the PoP games.
I gotta join everyone else here. The controls are just...horrible. Half the time I can't do what I'm trying to do, and the other half I have no idea how I just did what I did. How did this get badges?? It's too bad because if the controls weren't so terrible, it wouldn't be half bad.
I would enjoy this game..if it wasn't for the damn robbers. I couldn't even make it to the first town because I get ambushed by 4 of them. Even with the rifle they have a ton of health, so, of course I die. Why did you need to put robbers that early in the game? It's 4 on 1 and they must have over 100 health each..how am I supposed to progress with that shit?
Finally. It only took me 3 tries, but the last 2 or 3 levels are so stressful. You're constantly having to feed the birds, throw people, cars, trucks, vans and tanks, defend the nest, dodge helicopters all while trying to not look at the health bar. So glad to have the badge. I really did not think I was going to make it to level 10
It is hard to find a game that pisses me off this much. Level 9, I get 4 helicopters..but you can't grab them, and there were no vehicles at all to destroy them with. It's so damn cheap how it gets insanely hard right before level 10.
BADGE GUIDE: This should work on Hard as well. Start with 2 Dart monkeys. As soon as you can, buy a cannon and put it at the start of the map. Upgrade both slots of the cannon to max. Save up for a 2nd and 3rd cannon and upgrade both to max also. After this, buy a tack shooter, put it near the middle of the map and upgrade both slots fully to make it the blade shooter. Lastly, buy the Ice Ball and again upgrade it. Now this part is optional, you can do it before or after buying the Super Monkey. Buy the Monkey Beacon and fully upgrade it. It will give you access to the secret weapon. After this you're gunna want to save up for the Super Monkey. In my opinion, the only way to get that hard badge is the Super Monkey. Once you've saved enough, buy the SM, put him in the center of the map. You're going to want to fully upgrade him. It's expensive but very worth it. From there you can kinda just do whatever you want. Always make sure to have tacks ready to put at the end in case any get by.
Despite being a waste of a webpage..I spent over 15 minutes clicking that damn button. ...why did I do that? Good god. I just had to get to the end...and that is probably what the dev was going for....well played developer.
Ironhide, you have really done something amazing. As I've stated multiple times in the past, I usually hate TD games. This one though, is amazing. So good that I beat the entire campaign and am now trying all the Iron and Heroic Challenges on normal. And they are hard as hell, so the fact that I'm continuing to try to beat the I/H challenges is unheard of for me. It's gunna be awhile till I get that last hard badge but, damn, this is just such a great game.
I had to let this game grow on me. I thought it was terrible at first. But, after getting used to things and adjusting to it..it's actually a really fun fighting game that reminds me of Newgrounds Rumble and Super Smash Bros. Cool side note, I took Hypergon's last life out with a dark energy charge...it was a pretty badass way to get the final kill in the game.
I owe an apology to everyone, my horrible coding at the time has made this game nigh impossible with faster computers and flash players now.
