Hey SoulGame! I hope you'll see this and respond. I still can't get the quality settings to change for me. High/medium/low all run at the same quality/speed. I want to reduce the lag in later areas for the survival, but the settings don't actually change anything. Help? I'm running on Chrome.
Quality doesn't apply until your are actually in game, so be sure to check that if you didn't already. Also, if you experiment peaks of lag after a long session, refreshing browser will fix it, but if it lags constantly then it doesn't come from the game. Good luck
@Beerblog - actually, he only passes through a platform if you're holding the down key when he reaches it. If you want to stop falling, just let go of the down key and he'll come to rest on the next platform you reach.
Love the game, but I don't think the graphics setting actually changes anything. The graphics are still high quality for me, and my laptop starts to lag in the "hardcore" section of the endless run because of all the enemies and actions on screen. I don't know what to do since the low quality setting doesn't actually reduce the graphics level. I'm running Chrome, btw.
Also, 1/5 rating. I want it to be fun, the idea is fun, the costumes are fun. But a complete lack of helpful instructions/hints/guides, the worst lag I've ever experienced for a flash game, unresponsive/randomly responsive controls, and bugs galore (cats getting stuck on different levels, having an enemy who killed one cat block the screen while cats on an upper level have nothing to attack, watching 2 of my cats land on a ledge and the last 2 fall in a pit). Awful, awful execution.
Can someone explain to me how you obtain items that are marked by a red X? I thought it might be through chests, but the chests keep displaying empty, and the ones that have items seem to be giving me items marked with ? and not X. I thought maybe it was once you beat the game you unlock them, or obtain them from the wave of enemies at the last boss, but no dice there either. Game beaten, almost all other items filled up, still can't access the red Xs. So how?
@cam: I believe the only way to heal is by finding the correct outfits to dress your heroes in (bonus abilities come from wearing each item of clothing in a column). For instance, the 3rd column of the 3rd page is a knight, which heals all cats 2 points every 3 seconds.
If I play survival mode my cannon is overheating when I die (why wouldn't I be firing as much as I can? I'm about to die!). But if I go back to play a level, my cannon is still in overheat mode to start the level, and I have to wait for it to cool down before I can fire. That's dumb.
I found the accepting and adapting to the reverse firing scheme the game employs made the hard badge fairly easy to get. For most of the levels I would hold the mouse down and fire in one direction, but it's important in the points mode to be able to stay in the middle of the screen and fire in different directions by drifting gently away from your target. I don't like that money keeps dropping and cluttering the screen after all the upgrades are purchased, especially since those little orange enemies kind of blend in with some of the money drops.
75 was very simple after reading the comments. Thanks for the tips. Move a large portion of your jellies to one corner of the board, take over one of the potions, and then send ALL of your jellies to that potion. Wait for the boss to send out a group of jellies, then send your speedy potion jellies to take him. The computer freaks out and flees to the other side of the board once you control the boss, and it's a piece of cake.
cacophony (n): A harsh, discordant mixture of sounds.
I assume you meant to describe the world he's seeing as wonderful and magical, filled with beautiful colors as far as his eyes could see. Cacophony is not a good thing. It amazes me that developers put so much work into gameplay and graphics and art, but can't bother to proofread (or get someone else to look over) the dialogue.
Dude. Oxymoron. Why? Because it's all jumbled up in his head. The colours are beautiful, but they're so intense it's even slightly painful. Most of the errors like this people notice are not errors at all, but are there for a reason. The only true errors are the typos, the bane of my existecne.
On the surface the game is amazing. The atmosphere is terrifically terrifying. But after playing for a bit you realize the mechanics of the ghosts, and it loses it's splendor. The ghosts follow the same patterns every time, and always spawn in the same place after the same amount of time, and are instantly vulnerable (if you have eaten a blue pill). To get the 25,000 badge I simply began the game biding a little time until the ghosts drift toward the same spot north of their spawn area, picked up a pill and scooped up all 4. Rushed to the next blue pill, rushed to the span area, and killed all 4 again. After the blue pills are gone, it's just a matter of avoiding a few ghosts until you clear the board, then do it all again. Got the hard badge early in level 3. If the ghosts moved randomly or chose to follow you in some way, the game could be much better and more challenging.
Twice I've seen a ghost appear from out of a solid wall. The first time I had eaten a blue pellet and killed the ghost. The second time I died because a ghost walked through the wall and popped out directly in front of me. Please fix this bug!
This really escalates quickly. I struggled and struggled to get past 350K, then suddenly I scored 1.25 million. Just the right sequence of combos can make your score skyrocket. Very frustrating trying to figure out how to maximize your score. I had the bad habit of holding up too often and breaking through larger asteroids that I should have been spinning off of. I think a lot of the issue is too small of a radar screen/view screen. It becomes impossible to anticipate moves once you achieve and kind of desirable speed.
First, the game is a lot of fun. The strategy and gameplay is top-notch, if a little frantic. But I have a lot of criticisms:
Too much in the way. Mini-map overlaps the playing field, often blocking building locations. Same with other on-screen buttons. Structure menus are not solid, and you can build through the menu selection. This is a problem when you're holding shift to replicate similar structures. Same thing with pause button, why am I able to build a structure behind the pause button, when all I wanted to do was click pause? The buttons need to be solid, and out of the way, not half-blocking the play area. The structure menu absolutely needs to be solid, as it's very frustrating trying to pick an option/click the structure behind the menu.
Why can't the escape button be used to de-select? Would be very helpful to have a sure-fire way to get rid of the current selection, without having to worry if you'll click on the structure you're aiming for, or accidentally build the structure you have selected.
The game is too frantic. There's a lot of strategy to be toyed with, if only there were space and time to do it. Most levels (especially duels) are easily accomplished by spamming bombers at the enemy base before they can get setup and mount full attacks. But frequently building a base with reactors and shields will lose you the same level because your opponent rapidly becomes too advanced for you to handle.
For the most part I find it to be extremely unbalanced. Duel levels are simple and quick, while defense levels of the same difficulty level I found to be almost impossible.
4/5 because the sheer fun of the action overcomes these issues. But this game could be amazing with some attention to detail. Like not being able to see where you're building a structure on levels with a bright sun in them. That's just silly.
