guys moves too slow, gameplay is uninteresting. Try have a higher difficulty curve. Seems lieka a nice engine/base for a potentially interesting game, but its just not interesting.
any key != spacebar. Make the functionality any key, or change the text to spacebar. Make it more clear that the error message is a timer, and round it off to a consistent decimal point (tenths place I say) instead of having the .666666667 at 2/3...
Maybe it was jsut my machine, but the game was laggy and the character jumped instead of wlkaing smoothly. This game concept requires precise movement.
Excellent first game. Looks like the shootorials work. I would add some level segmentation, and an alternate WASD control scheme. Put a quick instruction page in there, as I missed the Kong text below the game. I felt that the diffficulty was not ramping up, except for bosses. Try varying the enemy color schemes and/or shapes.
