I really wish there was a way to turn off candy canes. Reloading my page 3+ times just to be able to half-see the blinking upgrades is not really my definition of fun... :/
There's definitely something going on with the auto-save. It has happened two or three times now that I'd log in, buy some stuff and log off, only to relog the next morning to the previous stuff unbought. This represents lost income on sometimes lenghty periods of times. It's very frustrating...
Hi! The auto-save interval has been increased to 30 seconds not so long ago, to make losing the savegame on browser crashes less likely to happen (unity tends to do that). This may cause some stuff bought in the last 30 seconds of a session to not to be saved, if you close the game too quickly after buying stuff. Hope this helps!
The milestones, evolve and hivemind menu are flashing like epileptic stroboscopes from the '80s. It's really hard to make out what's in there... I guess it must be a lag issue? Although I don't really understand why...
I was a bit disappointed finding out there were no extra levels after 3X :( Pretty cool game, though!
If I may offer a few suggestions, I would drop the current level-like menu for a more classic one. I guess you are still developing the game to add new tracks, so I'd just have a more standard menu that would allow you pick whichever level, possibly with a difficulty rating of sorts. Also, that menu could show what score you had on each level (depending on precision? % of completion?) and an option to just hear the tunes (maybe only if the level was completed? Or not). Also, instead of forcing the tutorials before each levels, I'd just condense the tutorials so they show all kinds of rhythms and mechanics and make it a separate playable thing. Maybe with its own menu, depending on what mechanic you want to practice exactly...
One of the rare music/rhythm games on here that has some accuracy to offer! Good job!
I haven't made it to the end yet, but here are some ideas for more varied songs/rhythms/challenges:
1) Have songs with irregular bars, like some 5/8 or 7/8 once in a while to mix things up. It would make the beats become north/south and the syncopations east/west.
2) Make it octogons instead of squares and allow diagonals for funky sixteeth syncopations.
3) Have some hexagon-based levels for some 6/8, 9/8 or 12/8 ternary tracks.
If you want, I coud maybe provide some tracks for a sequel if I'm not too busy when you are getting around to it :)
heheh I'm actually composing a 5/4 piano track right now with 'swing' timing, so the grid is skewed with the vertical lines now being at 60 degrees. I think / hope it's gonna be fun! You have got some great ideas, and I've already been planning for all of them, except the 5/8 which makes north-south become on-beat. That is truly evil haha. There is actually a lot of really cool maths behind the concept - think about how a hexagon or an octagon would sound like, and you'll realise that all regular polygons will fit into an integer number of beats, due to the formula for total internal angles in a polygon: 180 * (n-2). Get in touch if you wanna help me compose!
Some part of me wants to hate this game because it is so simplistic, some other part of me actually hates this game because I feel like an unproductive, time-losing slob playing it, and yet some other part of me can't stop playing it again and again. So, reluctantly, I say good job on such an addictive concept. :P
Seriously it looks awesome but the lack of a comprehensive tutorial make it a pain in the ass to even consider just trying out. Sure, there are the guides on the site, but they're unappealing walls of text...
Is it just me, or does the village only grows when I get new houses (and maybe mansions but honestly there's no visual difference)? Or are we just focused on the residential district, and all the industry happens off-screen? In any event, it's pretty much just rows of empty houses in the woods.
Also, the first-person thing (once you find it out because it really isn't that obvious) is a nice idea but it's kinda pointless and uninteresting with the village being rows of identical and empty houses...
Somehow the calculations seem off in regards with achievements. I had 400 oil companies which got me ~1.1 septillion $ every ~15 seconds. I buy 100 more, so I should have the profits for those (I don't know exactly what this would be) + the profits x2 effect from the 500 oil companies achievement. But with 500 oil companies, 1 make ~1.5 septillions $. I'd think just the achievement should have brought me to ~2.2 septillions, plus the profits from that additional 100 companies x2, I thought I'd have at least 2.5 septillion $ every 15 secs. Is it just me or do basic maths not apply when you rake in so much money?
