Well at least the game is generous enough to allow you to restart from the boss if you make it there from level 19. Having said that, the boss fight felt a little anticlimatic at full health, but that's fine as it helps justify the medium badge's requirements.
...I really don't want to consult the walkthrough as don't remember needing it for any other of the cube escapes, but honestly the cow part is pissing me off.
I'm sure I might be able to eventually figure it out on my own, maybe...but it's seriously frustrating me.
I love the lateral thinking needed to beat this game. The light bot puzzle was the thing that had held me up the longest but once I made it past that it didn't take me too long to figure out the rest. In hindsight, the solution to Yacine's puzzle is ridiculously easy, though I think my brain was overthinking it and the first two required moves did seem a bit counterintuitive at first.
I have to say, that ending is one hell of a Pyrrhic victory. I suppose it doesn't leave much room for a third installment.
So something I was thinking about as far as mutagen distribution goes if you're looking to spread out your mutagen (after getting your hatcheries and expansions back to acceptable levels).
For the two powers that don't cap (lepidoptera and frequency mutations), the spread goes 1/n for the first distribution, then 1/(n-1) for the next until you put in 100% of the remaining for the last mutagen dump. Practically it'd work like:
- 1/3 for the first
- 1/2 * 2/3 [of the original amount] = 1/3 [of the original amount]
- 1 * 1/3 [of the original amount] = 1/3 of the original amount.
Of course, 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 = 1
It works for any number of divisions but I figured that the example I gave was a way to give a brief practical demonstration of how this works. Of course, you'll need percentages instead of fractions but the conversion should be trivial.
Okay. Completing it again wasn't that hard. I just apparently didn't have a clear enough mind to do the dominoes earlier. Also, I think the dominoes were optional to begin with. Also, I was moronic with the comb for...I dunno why.
Ha! So after struggling a bit to figure out how to center on a place for the triangulation puzzle, I figured out that being able to just draw lines between the four places (diagonals of an imaginary square) allowed me to center on the location I needed.
In essences, the lines were meant to represent radii of the circles at these locations where said raidii would be perfectly parallel. I love this game.
"Engineering is hard" in the game mostly because detaching parts seems a bit harder than it should be, and the later drawing design recommendations are cluttered and confusing.
@aquatorrent: The way the box puzzle works is multiplication. The first number is an inverted symbol for 9 (that is, 6). The second number is 237.
6 * 237 = 1422 (the code for the box) From there, you just have to enter the equivalent of 1422 in the symbols.
I beat level 8 by building up fatty acids and sending out a ton of toxins at once. It hit 100% just before I was overwhelmed by diseases. Of course, I had kept my defenses maximized before then.
It looks like you need 50 fatty acids to produce enough toxins to win.
Well, maybe it does.
