Made more money on Level 30 than any other level, even level 40. Grind there for money.
Kinda weird how I can finish the game without fully upgrading the penguins or abilities.
TIP: The upgrades are the same cost even if you bought previous upgrades, so it's best NOT to buy upgrades for a while. I skipped the level 2 and level 4 upgrades for each penguin, saved a lot of money that way.
Upgrading weapon power does nothing -- still takes two shots to knock down the kids even with max weapon power. The turrets are useless, because they always shoot at where the target was, not where they will be.
No instructions, argh. The three cards to choose from (left, centre, right) will replace the card in the same slot in your "hand" (left, centre, right). That was confusing until I figured that out. Dear author: don't assume people already know how to play the card game it's based on!
This is an okay implementation of a bad card game. It's just pure chance that you get a hand of three cards that will be effective. DM, DM, A30 and I just keep hitting "pass" until I win.
(version 1.22) I've tried level 4 a dozen times on medium. I even went to YouTube and followed the videos there for "dungeon defender level 4". It seems the videos there are from an easier version of this game, where the monsters in the lairs on the sides are easier to defeat. I'm about ready to give up.
It's spelled "PRICE" not "PRIZE," that confused me so much in the (holy cow sexist) cheerleader shop, and now I see it in the equipment shop and on every item too. I know this is not an English game, but come ON, you have English voice actors.
Ugh, bad microphone work on the female voice, the audio is clipping. Went to the store, the typeface is almost unreadable and the glow around the letters reducing contrast doesn't help the legibility.
Sometimes when I'm playing the boss levels, and reproducing like mad, the new units will just sit there after I give them orders, or I'll see a circle off the map where I haven't clicked, and the units will start moving towards it. Weird.
Simple, just enough complex to make it more stimulating than yet-another-realtime-Risko. On level 12 when I'm reproducing like mad to keep up against attrition, I gotta look closely for the shapes that hint at the attributes I want. It has just enough
Ugh. Three ninjas came out, and they're tossing stars faster than I can tap 'up' to recover... but they're the last ninjas. I have to abort the game -- and I was on stage eight! I lose all my progress! Damnit!
"This game is refreshingly original." Is that an ironic comment? Animal Raceway came to Kongregate at the same time, and the gameplay is identical... right down to the "you have to grind on dead-simple minigames before you get anywhere." At least with Ducklife, I don't have to keep entering and failing at races between the minigames.
I spend 12 turns with all these options, but the only one I of use is "go to mana cave," and after 12 turns I get one fight (which I would be SCREWED if I didn't know in advance what spells to get), and it says I have 5 years (another 48 visits to the mana cave) before I can get into a fight that matters?
The awful English grammar doesn't help, either.
So... this is the "click on mana cave" game? Why have all this other stuff added to it if all I'm going to do for the first umpteen turns is go to the mana cave?
