The problem I constantly have with this game is just that it's so dang hard to get started. My celle moves so damn slow even with yellows that a glacier could outpace me, much less the homing missiles that start shooting at me within one space of the start. Sure, I could blast asteroids for 12 hours to build up a decent celle, but even with ~8-10 hexes I feel like I can barely operate.
The challenges and time trial idea is stupid. All you have to do is muddle around until you complete the level, make sure you know where the magnets were and then restart the level, putting everything back. That's not a challenge, that's repetition.
#1: pull door, remove pants, sit toilet, shit. #2: remove pants, shit. #3: shit. (sweet and simple) #4: pull door, sit toilet, shit. #5: die (also: Kill). #6: fart lightly, 'take pills' ... Then wait til the timer runs out. #7: After doing 6, wait a few more moments on the victory screen. :) #8: Rather then typing play, type "shit". #9: 'pull door' and wait. #10: Collect all of the other poopy endings. :) Please repost this, rather then the other one. Here is the list of Easter eggs/other endings: A) remove pants, die B) Fart C) Fart lightly, Fart lightly (yes, twice.) D). Type 'look'--this is listed as an easter egg, because not everyone has played a text adventure before. :) E) Break Door F) type: Don't shit your pants. G) remove pants, break door. H) Remove pants, fart. =D just so you can remember! ;)
I didn't like not knowing when my screen was flipped. Although I saw an animation when it flipped originally it appeared to flip back but still retained the flipped controls. Movement of the window across the screen was too fast, IMO, and instead of seeming challenging seemed annoying each time it happened.
Sooo many things on screen at once with no point except to click and hope. I would have been more excited by the opportunity to try clicking the atoms to explode them and kill baddies that were walking around to come after my base a la a tower defense than to click, pray and have the inane "story" progress.
After a while solving the levels is a chore. First: turn all 3-ways on the edge so they don't point out. Second: turn all straights on the edge to be parallel with the edge. Third, turn all nodes on the edge towards any 3-way neighbors. Fourth: connect all 4-way nexuses. Fifth: finish the level. Repeat. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a "lock this piece" function so that you could see what you were sure about.
I like the game but wish that it were more responsive, had a mini-map to show you what you've explored and I completely disagree with the way that XP is allocated. Sometimes the most important person on your team is the guy that spent the entire time dodging hits and healing everyone else, but in this system that guy gets the shaft!
For the record, I'm REALLY disappointed that my level got reset. I worked hard to get to 30 in the hopes that when badges were added that I'd have at least one already in the bag. Bummer.
I like it a lot. I wish I could take a few cards out of my deck, though. For being so low on damage you'd think that the shotgun from Blast 'Em might lower the attack power of an opposing monster or something. Mi-Go Surgery doesn't do much more than the 0-point doctor but the cost is a lot higher. I go back and forth over whether I like the fact that only discarding my most powerful cards will get me back to sanity. From a game play side it sure hampers me but it's true to the Mythos feel. I think overall I like it, though. After all, why should I be able to perform a Mad Experiment if all I'm willing to do to regain my sanity is to stop shooting people with my shotgun?
For a next version maybe do the follwoing?
- Let us pick our starting location.
- Show us arrows indicating which country infected their neighbors
- It makes sense that vaccine development might start before a germ causes many symptoms, but only if infection levels are REALLY high.
- Borders should close a LOT slower and facility closures should make sense given the resources in that region.
Grrr. I wiped humanity off the pitiful planet and didn't get the badge! Does it determine the hard badge by score? I let my parasite fester for RL hours before coming back and lost lots of points. (Forgot to pause when afk.)
I'd like to see a Dodge option (costing 5-10 action points?) that gives you, say, an additional 15% chance to avoid an incoming attack. Sometimes I want to wear down someone's action by forcing them to try and change ranges or I have nothing to attack with but don't need to rest and think it's unlikely that they'll try to switch.
